Annabeth's POV

We arrived at Olympus early in the morning to get the briefing. Seaweed Brain hasn't fully woken up yet so he's leaning his head on my shoulder probably drooling.

Oh gods he is drooling. Yuck! I shook him gently and he groaned. Then I shoved off of me and onto the floor. That woke him up.

"Alright wimps," Ares started, "we're gonna send you into the arena in about two hours where you will then fight to the death until there is only one winner. If you refuse to maim and kill, then there will be something we gods like to call 'Olympus Enforced Action'. I'm sure you'll be overjoyed to find out what that is.

I would suggest though, that you just go along with it and kill each other, because OEA is not fun. For you guys at least."

I nodded along, showing that I understood.

Artemis spoke next, "There will be various weapons in the arena. You will each get to bring one weapon of your choice. Bows and arrows are an exception. You may bring a bow, but the quiver will only be allowed twelve arrows, rather for hunting animals for food, or for killing your friends."

"Now twerps, the weapons will be taken from you and placed in the Cornucopia and you will have to fight to get them. If they are magically disguised in anyway, they will no longer hold that kind of power. Thalia, show me that bracelet of yours."

Thalia reluctantly took the bracket off her wrist and handed it to Ares.

"No when you activate this, it turns into Aegis, correct?"

"Correct," Thalia grumbled

Well if you choose this to be your weapon, it will stay in shield form the whole time. I would not suggest it, but, I mean, you do you."

Artemis spoke up again, "There will also be five medical packs with some non perishables and other important things. It will be up to you if you'd rather have a weapon or a backpack."

"Now the weapons," she continued, "are fair game. Even if they belong to someone else. If you want to stick to your weapon, fine. But if you want to sabotage someone else, take their weapon of choice.

You can also steal it from them throughout the game. We also have a sponsor system. Your cabin mates back at camp can pay to give you vital resources. If you don't have cabin mates, well I guess it sucks for you. Don't try and escape. We're gods. We built this thing. You can't. Plus, there are cameras everywhere and the whole thing is broadcasted by Hephaestus TV. If you really want to have a make out session with your partner, that's cool, but the whole camp will see it."

They covered some more things about the games and finally we were to start prepping.

We all had to change into the right garb. It was some weird, black, dry fit stuff and jackets that weren't all that warm. We also got combat boots which was nice.

Then we all had to give up our weapon of choice. I, of course, chose my dagger(which was 'returned' to me by the magicians). Percy chose Riptide, Thalia her bow and arrows, Nico his sword, and so on and so forth.

Leo grabbed the biggest hammer me could find out of his tool belt. Then he seemed to think better of it and put it back, talking off the whole tool belt and handing it forward.

Clarisse brought forth Maimer, which was predictable. Will pulled out a scalpel sheepishly, seeing as he didn't really have a weapon. Reyna looked at her dagger and her sword and after a little while of studying them, chose the dagger. Good choice, that's what I chose.

After everyone had given something, we were sent to a 'last dinner' of sorts. I sat next to Percy and Hazel, everyone else crowding around the table.

I locked eyes with everyone in the room and I made a silent oath that I would not kill anyone here. I was hoping they were thinking the same thing, though some were smiling maliciously at the thought of a challenge *cough* Nike and Nemisis kids *cough*. After we finished, we were sent to separate underground chambers.

I didn't want to let go of Seaweed Brains hand, but he gave me a reassuring smile as he was pulled away from me.

I waited impatiently for exactly twenty minutes until a nymph walked in.

She told me to step onto the circular platform. I did and it began to rise. I started to panic. I felt sick to my stomach. I bent down, ready to jump off, but I was already too high up. Sunlight pored in from the top and I swallowed down the bike threatening to rise in my throat.

Then the platform stopped moving and I was standing in a circle with the other tributes in a grassy area. In the center, was what I assumed to be the Cornucopia. Our weapons riddled the grass near it and I seek out my dagger. Than I think better of it and look for one of the backpacks. Better to be safe then sorry.

I decided to run for the one nearest to me and then bolt into the trees. The ADHD part of my brain thought it was a beautiful sunny day. What a shame to be killing people in such nice weather. Focus, I chided myself. I almost missed the conch horn.

Once I heard it I ran. In my peripheral vision, I could see that everyone else was doing the same. My mind wandered once more as I made a mad dash for the bag. Ares had said something about a cannon going off when someone died. I hoped I never had to hear that sound, but I was just being naive. Just as I had thought that, I saw someone go down. The unmistakable sound of a canon and I knew one of us was already dead. Then another one. Oh gods no.

I grabbed the pack and ran til I couldn't see the grassy area anymore. It was now covered in blood. I wonder who died.

Then it hit me. SEAWEED BRAIN!!! I hadn't even thought to look for him. No I might of lost him, in the woods or forever. I made that my goal. Find Percy and then figure out this mess of a game. Because if one thing was for certain, I cannot do this without him.

I also did this chapter entirely in Annabeth's POV which is kind of unusual for me but it will happen sometimes.
