The Catch
Clarisse's POV
"No!" I screamed. "Leo!"
The cannon boomed and I suddenly felt very alone. I can't believe I made it. I won. I'm the last tribute.
That didn't make me feel any better though. Twenty-three demigods had to die in order for me to get here. Among them were my friends.
I even felt sad for Prissy. He's never let me down before. I felt like I've let him down though. I don't deserve to win. No one deserves to win.
Why is there even a winner anyway? In a game like this, there are no winners.
Suddenly, I was enveloped in a bright, white light. When I came to my senses, I was standing before the gods in their palace.

"Clarisse!" Ares yelled. He seemed plenty overjoyed that I, his own daughter, had won the games.
"You happy now?" I screamed. All chatter quieted down as the gods looked at me.
"What the HELL was the point!"
The King of the Gods looked down at his feet. What a coward. I hated them with every fraction of my being.
"Look, Clarisse..." Ares started. "I don't want to hear it!"
"Your friends are right behind you." Zeus interrupted. I turned around and there they were.
They were all laying peacefully on beds, laid out in the order they were killed. They all still had their wounds. Leo was still covered in burns and Dakota had an ugly scar snaking around his neck, but his head was on his shoulders.
Seeing them all like that, I wanted to cry. It was absolutely cruel, what the gods have done. They've killed twenty-three of us just for sport.
"They're not dead, you know." Ares spoke from behind me.

What?!? Okay you will get answers next chapter hopefully. This was a very short chapter. I apologize. It's the shortest I've ever written, but I want to drag the story out a little longer. Thank you so much for sticking with my story and voting and commenting. It really means a lot to me. See ya later demigods.
