Chapter 39

Olivia North

"Dammit Olivia! It's been three weeks since I started teaching you how to cook and bake and yet you still don't know how to slice properly? You're hopeless." Mrs. Knights snapped at me and stormed out of her kitchen.

"I-Im so..." I sighed and placed the knife down.

Today's the fourth weekend Mrs. Knight teaching me how to cook and bake. Just like today, the past weekends were full of shouting like:

"How many times do I have to tell you to wash the vegetables first before slicing it?"

"Olivia focus!"

"Olivia I said cut it in half, not dice it."

"I said blanch the greens not boil them."

"That's not how you knead a dough!"

Thankfully, I managed to persuade Nick to not accompany me here at Mrs. Knights while she's teaching me. I know for a fact that I will get a lot of shoutings and curses by the time I accepted this offer that's why I asked him to not accompany. You know the guy, he loses his cool immediately when someone tries to disrespect me.

It's sweet but I don't want him to lash out on his grandmother because of me. That would just add fire to the burning hatred his Nana has on me and I didn't want also to have a crack on their relationship.

Actually, I was okay with Mrs. Knights attitude towards me. I know I've been saying this for quite a while now but I really understand from where she is coming from and I respect her. I've handled a lot of that attitude in Hope that's why I'm used to it. But what I was not used to was the ugly presence of the parrot across me who's currently smirking while slicing potatoes.

She never missed a day in this house. She's always present here, it's as if she wanted to show me how great of a cook she is. Great my ass. That's the only thing she can do great to make up for her ugliness.

I can hear her suppressing her laugh and I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Oh no. Laugh all you want, Becky." I spat out and pointed my index finger at her. She smashed the knife on the counter and looked at me angrily. Pff. As if I'm scared of that.

"I told you to not call me Becky, Olivia."

"Well news flash, Becky, I can do whatever I want. Oh FYI, you hold no power over me." I raised my brow and folded my arms across my chest. I knew from Tessa that she hates to be called Becky. I didn't know if it's just a slip of tongue moment or she really informed me about it.

"Really? I am favored by Nana, anything I do or say are enough powers to me." She smirked.

So she's testing my patience, huh. If she thought she can hurt me by saying that then she's wrong. Gotcha, bitch.

"And I'm impressed, Becky. But please be reminded that there's no permanent thing in the world." I smiled and picked up the knife again to rectify my mistake. I took another carrot to slice then, I looked up at the scowling parrot in front of me and added, "but change."

"If you think Nana will like you then you're insane. She will never ever ever like a woman of your kind for her grandsons. You didn't even know how to brew her tea properly. So I suggest, go back to where you came from princess, because the last thing this family needs is a promiscuous woman like you." She snapped and circled around the counter to stand beside me. She's a bit taller than me so I had to look up at her.

I raised my chin and smiled sweetly at her and played a little of her hair.

"Well honey, I appreciate your concern but how can I go back when Niccolo himself is the one who's dragging me here. Besides he likes how I warm his bed every night. You should hear him call my name whenever I give to him what he wanted. The way I started from his mouth then down to his chin, to his chest then to his sexy abs, and finally to his---"

"You really are a whore, Olivia North. You may be his girlfriend right now but I assure you that it won't be long when Nick finally realized that you're not the one for him and Dylan." She interrupted me and swatted my hand that was playing her hair. Just a little disclaimer, Nick and I haven't done the deed but I just want to remind her that he belongs to me. So in your face Rebecca, I am Niccolo's girlfriend.

"Oh sweetie, I am actually waiting for you to realize that you and Nick are impossible to be together. They are mine, Rebecca and no one can take them away from me even you. So mark my words, get away from them while I am being nice." I took a step towards her until were our faces were inches apart. I didn't care if Mrs. Knights saw us like this as long as I delivered my message to her.

"One mistake, Olivia. Just one mistake and both of them will be the one to walk away from you. Mark my words." She went to her side and resumed cutting potatoes. I just scoffed at her and did my task.

"And I will wait for that." I replied.

I thought about what she said, one mistake... I vowed to myself that whatever this mistake she's pertaining to will never be mine, but hers. I will make sure that I will bring her down first before she does it to me.

I may treat her nicely in front of Mrs. Knights but it doesn't mean I wasn't counting. Just you see Rebecca, try to cross the line and you'll meet who I truly am.

"Are you two done slicing? It's time for us to cook." Mrs. Knights went inside the kitchen with herbs on her hands.

"Olivia, fill the pot with water, I am boiling the chicken. Rebecca honey, check the cake in the oven."

The next time Mrs. Knights calls honey, it would be me.

*******
"Do you really have to wake up so early to help Nana for breakfast?" Nick asked groggily as he tightened his embrace around me. I tried removing his arm so I can get out of the bed but it was futile.

"Livy, you made a very delicious sauteed veggies last night. Can't it spare you to "class" today? Dylan and I need to spend some quality time with you. Nana took all of your time whenever we're here. You don't get to rest or just take a break. Come on babe, ditch Nana today, please." He hovered over me and rested his head on my neck and begged like a kid.

I ran my hands on his hair and when he looked up, I gave him a quick peck.

"Nick, I can't just ditch Mrs. Knights, I agreed to be taught by her so it's rude to not show up and besides I feel like we're starting to get close now, huh. I just wished that Rebecca is not there today. She's irritating and ugly." Of course I mumbled the last part to myself but Nick heard it and laughed aloud. I put my hand on his mouth to shush him but he just removed it and supported his weight through his left shoulder.

"Nick, shut up. There's nothing funny about what I said." I tried closing his mouth again with my hand but he held both of it and placed it over my head.

"Yeah there's nothing funny about what you said but you're so adorable and cute when you get jealous." He explained while trying to control his laugh. I just rolled my eyes at h and tried to remove my hands from his hold.

"I am not jealous. Who says I am jealous. Are you kidding?" Oh no, I can't let him know that I am jealous over that ugly parrot. I looked at my side to hide my flushed face.

"Yup. Sure you don't. So you won't get mad if I ask Rebecca to accompany me buy some stuff for today?" I immediately looked at him and narrowed my eyes.

"Don't you fucking dare ask her out, Niccolo. Or else I will mmmm.." he interrupted me by kissing me. I encircled my arms around her neck and pulled him to me to deepen the kiss. I managed to be on top of him and dominated the kiss then I stopped and got out immediately from the bed and went to the bathroom to get ready.

"Olivia, you tease." I heard him groan and I smiled.

"I'm sorry babe but I have to get ready to prepare your breakfast." I replied and got on my morning routine.

I got into the kitchen of Esme because Mrs. Knights told me that we will be making breakfast here today. I walked in and saw her and Esme sipping their coffee.

"Good morning, Mrs. Knights and Esme." I greeted them cheerfully and they faced me. Esme gave me a motherly hug and kissed me on the cheeks while Mrs. Knights just being Mrs. Knights but still I gave her a quick side hug to which I earned a grumpy 'I told you to not touch me.' comment.

I just chuckled because I'm used to it and I believe she had become used to it because no matter how many times she tell me that she doesn't want to be hugged by me, I still do it.

"It's about time for you to wake up, Olivia. We were an hour already." Mrs. Knights commented and I just smiled.

"I'm sorry ma'am for making you wait. I overslept and Nick was adamant to not let go of me so I waited for him to fell back to sleep." I said cheerfully. Of course I won't tell them what I did for me to get out of that giant koala's embrace.

"It's okay, Olivia. We know how they can be possessive every morning." Esme stated and I blushed.

"So, we are making english breakfast today. Would you like to suggest something?" Esme asked and I nodded slowly.

I looked at Mrs. Knights and she was waiting for me to talk. I took a deep breathe and smiled.

"Actually I was thinking of maybe I can make an egg sandwich for breakfast today because Dylan and Nick were asking me last night for it. I didn't mean to ruin your plan, I just... I'm sorry." I lowered my head and I felt a hand held mine. I looked up at Esme and she was smiling.

"Livy, of course you can make that. I believe it's time for us to taste your sandwich that Nick's been bragging since forever." I smiled widely and hugged Esme because of two things, first she called me Livy, and second, i didn't know Nick was bragging my sandwiches. Oh my God.

But then I realized that Mrs. Knights were here also so i slowly looked at her for her approval and she just sighed and nodded her head.

I smiled and hugged her again quickly and she just clicked her tongue and removed my arms around her. Then I quickly prepared breakfast.

I gave a piece of sandwiches both Esme and Mrs. Knights. They took a bite on it and Esme widened her eyes.

"Wow, Livy. This is good. Now I know why Nick kept on bragging your sandwiches. You should give me the recipe on this." I smiled.

"Of course I can give it to you. Thank you, my mom actually taught me how to prepare sandwiches." I said proudly.

"Your mom, we should meet her whenever we visit you and Nick." Esme said excitedly and my smile faded upon hearing what she said.

"Uhmm, actually my mom died when I was 13 years old. She died because of cancer." I quietly stated and lowered my head, I didn't want them to see the longing in my eyes.

"Oh I'm sorry Livy. I didn't know that she's..." I interrupted Esme before she can finish her sentence.

"It's okay, Esme. It's been 10 years now so it's okay. But you know what, she cooked delicious food too. Too bad she taught everything about her recipes to my brother." I smiled sadly but to conceal my sadness, I put on my cheerful persona and added, "Do you know you have basically the same nickname with my mom?" I directed to Esme and she smiled.

"Really? What was her nickname?" She asked.

"Her name was Emilia North, but everyone, except my dad, called her Emmie. Do you know why Daddy never called her Emmie? That's because his sister's name is Emmie so daddy thought that it would be weird to call his wife the same name he calls his sister. Also, mom was all over our house, she's a very hands on mom just like you, Esme." I chuckled and I remembered something.

"Oh and I remembered that mommy would always be the one who fetched me from school, we always went to the park to feed the ducks even if there was a sign that says 'do not feed the ducks.' or we will go to our favorite coffee shop where she used to work a part time job when she was in college." I smiled at the memory,I can still remember those vivid memories with her.

"But then when she was diagnosed with Brain cancer, dad started to hire a lot of helpers. Chefs, maids, chauffers, and bodyguards. Our once full of laughters home were now full of strangers who does everything my mom did. From gardening to cooking, to fetching me to school, to making my dad's coffee. Instead of her fetching me, I was the one fetching her and dad to the hospital every after her chemotherapy. Instead of her yelling at us about food being ready, she was yelling at no one because of the pain she's felt." I blinked when I felt the familiar sadness I buried years ago.

Oh my God. What was I doing? Why was I telling them about this? I was sure this would just add up to Mrs. Knights doubts about me. Me being motherless in a young age that's why I really am not fit to be her grandsons' life.

I took a deep breath and smiled widely at them.

"I'm sorry Esme and Mrs. Knights, I didn't mean to bore you about my story. Let me just check on the bread if they're ready." I stood up but I felt Esme's hand held mine.

"I am always here for you, Olivia. If you need someone, I am here. I'm just one call away." I held her hand with my free hand and nodded at her.

"Thank you, Esme." I smiled when she cupped my cheek with his right hand.

"The bread is ready." Mrs. Knights informed us and I turned around immediately because I forgot about it again.

Geez I hope it's not burnt because or else I will be a dead woman.
