Chapter 38
Niccolo Knights
Did you ever feel that your life is complete? That you don't need anything else? Well, I am feeling it now and to say that I am happy was an understatement because I am in euphoria, in complete bliss.
Yesterday at Elly's birthday party I saw Olivia's jealousy side. I was glad I participated at that paper dance because I witnessed her jealousy first hand. I know for a fact that she doesn't like Rebecca since they have met at the bake sale that's why I try to evade the woman for her sake.
I also know that Rebecca likes me since we were still in highschool and we always hang out together, we even applied for a wait staff in the same diner. And with that, lots of people thought that we will end up together but they didn't know that I always see her as my sister, nothing more nothing less.
So when I came back here after so many years, I thought that her little crush on me would dissipate but turned out otherwise, especially when she knew about Dylan. She would always offer to babysit him whenever he's staying here, that's why I assume Nana likes her to end up with me because she saw that she's a good woman for me and my son.
Then came Olivia, the one who effortlessly paved her way to my son and I's heart. At first she was hell bent angry and adamant about disagreeing to marrying me. She never acknowledged my existence, ignored me in all forms, hell she didn't even looked at my way, she even slapped me on my face and accused me of being after their money.
Of course I was mad at her because she was rude, arrogant, and entitled. Her words sting whenever she talked because she doesn't care if she hurt someone as long as she says it to you. She also likes to point her index finger to the person whenever she's angry. She did to almost everyone, from her dad, to her brother, to the paparazzis, to her employees, to me, and just basically everyone.
Thinking about it, we had come a long a way. From being the cold heiress towards me to the super sweet and touchy girlfriend. From what I have observed, she's really a touchy person not only to me and Dylan but also to her friends and Zac. She shows her affection to us whenever and wherever by hugging, linking her arms, holding hands, and kissing. She's not shy to show it even if there are lots of people around.
She would kiss me and hug me anytime she felt like it, and who am I to complain, right? I enjoyed it and that's the how I let people know that she is mine.
Speaking of kissing, this morning when she woke me up, she kissed me sensually as if she wanted to brand me as hers. It's as if she's saying to me that I belong only to her, not to any other woman. I don't know if that's her being possessive but I don't care because that means she likes me.
I chuckled when I remember how she was scowling yesterday when she snatched the prize from paper dance, she was so cute and funny that's why I laughed at all the jokes Tessa said, because it looks logical to laugh at it than to laugh all by myself because of the cuteness of Olivia.
"I didn't know cleaning the dishes is funny." I looked at my right and saw Dad leaning on to the sink.
I raised my brows while shaking my head and continued the task at hand.
"That's her impact to you, huh?" Dad asked again.
I smiled at him and nodded.
"You love her, do you." He sat on one of the stools and I wiped my hand with the dish towel and sat in front of him.
"You know dad, this is the first time I felt completely happy and content in my life. It's far from the happiness I felt when I saw my company name in the list of top 10 best in the country. Whenever I see her taking care of Dylan, the way she cling on to me whenever she's exhausted or complaining the additional workload his brother give to him, it gives me the feeling of contentment. And if that is love, then I love her. I love her, dad and I want her to be the woman I spend my life with, Dylan's mother, and the one who will bear my child." I chuckled and looked at my dad for his reaction, he was just smiling at me.
"You know son, at first when I saw in the news that you are dating the North heiress, I was tempted to call you and ask you if it's just for fun. But your mom told me to wait for you to personally inform us that you are dating. I actually detested your relationship with her because of her reputation, but when Dylan started to blabber about her non-stop and even calls her mommy, I thought that this woman is different from what the news reported." He smiled and continued.
"The day we first saw her in your house, she was so shy and couldn't even look us in the eye straight. But when Dylan came, she immediately stood up and welcomed him in a hug, she even reminded him of acknowledging you. That's when I knew that she's a good person that was corrupted by the media. So be her knight son, protect her from all the bad she may encounter, just like what I and your brother do to your mom and Jesse. We love and protect them no matter what." He patted my shoulders and stood up from the stool.
"Is that your way of telling me that you accept Olivia as my girlfriend?" I asked him before he could exit the kitchen.
"Yes, and as your future wife, Niccolo. Your face gave it all away, son. Anyone can see it in your face and actions that you will marry Olivia North and that you love her." He explained when he saw the confuse look I had when he said as my future wife. I know I told them that I will marry her but I know also that they thought that I just said it out of nowhere. I didn't think that my face and actions gave it all away.
But still, I am glad that Dad approves of her. I know also that mom, Tessa, and the J couples likes her already. It's only Nana that I needed to convince that Olivia is not the person she thinks she is. And there's only one way to do that, it's by having a talk with her.
I rang the doorbell of Nana's and it was immediately opened by Rebecca. They are really close huh.
"Oh hi Nick." I was taken aback when she hugged and kissed me on my cheek. I quickly released her and asked where Nana is.
"Oh she's in the study, reading. Come in." She linked her arm at me and I quickly removed her hand and took long strides to where Nana is. I knocked twice and opened the door when I heard a small come in. Rebecca and I came in the room and I saw sitting on the couch and reading.
"Don't tell me that you brought along your girlfriend here." She spoke while her eyes were still glued on her book.
I sighed and sat beside her, Rebecca also sat on one of the couches. Is she going to stay and sit here? Aren't she going to leave?
"I came here by myself, Nana." I gently stated and smiled at her when she looked at me and closed the book she's holding. Good, I want her full attention to me.
"What do you want, Nick? If this is about that woman then I won't talk to you." She stated sternly and sipped her cup of tea.
I sighed. Why does she hate Olivia so much?
"Nana please listen to me. Olivia is a kind woman, she may look like the opposite but trust me, she's not." I leaned my back to the couch and held her left hand. She took it away immediately.
"Niccolo, I told you I won't talk to you if it's about that woman. If you're done, you may go now. Rebecca will show you the door." She picked up her book again but I snatched it from her. Nope Nana, I will settle this today. I promised myself that I will not go until I change your outlook on my girlfriend, just even a tiny bit.
"Nana please. I beg you to listen to me. Olivia is not---"
"I don't like her Niccolo, period. She's not the kind of woman for you. She is not a wife material. Does she know anything when it comes to household? Does she know how to shop for groceries? I bet she only knows how to shop clothes, shoes, bags and whatnot. Nick what I wanted for you is a woman who can take care of you, not you to her." She looked at me in the eye seriously.
I know that she only thinks about me and Dylan's sake and I appreciate it but can she not see that we are perfectly happy with her?
"I know that, Nana and thank you for thinking of us. But please do understand that she is my girlfriend and that I am in love with her." I heard a gasp and I looked at Rebecca who was currently in shock. Yes, it's high time for her to know that we don't belong to each other.
"Dylan also loves her, Nana. Yes she may not know other household chores but she's willing to learn about them. In fact she's learning how to cook and I am teaching her. She is trying Nana. So please try to open your mind and heart about her and see that she's not the kind of girl the media talks about." I paused and looked at her reaction. She just took a deep breathe and took another sip on her tea.
The room fell silent as I was waiting for her reply but when I was certain that she was not going to reply, she started to speak.
"I will teach her how to cook. Tell her that I will be the one teaching her. I will be firm on her and you, Niccolo will not interfere in any way. Be here every weekend." She stood up from her seat and went out of the room.
I smiled widely and ran to her to hug her.
"Thank you so much, Nana. Thank you." She hugged me back and chuckled.
"Don't thank me just yet, Nick. I need to see if she can hold up with me." She said and walked towards the kitchen.
"Do you want an eclair?" She offered and I nodded immediately. I love her eclairs, let me take home some.
Just wait Nana, you will get fond of my Livy in no time.
********
"Olivia, are you okay?" I asked her because she zoned out after I told her what Nana said awhile ago.
Her eyes shifted at me and widened.
"Niccolo, don't you joke around with that." She stood up and went to the window of my room.
"Im serious Livy. Nana said that she will teach you how to cook on weekends. And I think that's the best way for you to win her heart." I assured her.
"Oh my God. I'm scared, Nick. What if she hate me more after she learned how useless I am in the kitchen? Oh my God." She put his face on her hands.
I walked towards her from my bed and back hugged her. I really like how her body perfectly molded into me and her rosy scent that gives calmness to me
"She won't, Livy. Besides I am here to prep you. You don't have to worry, just be yourself and you are an intelligent woman. I remember when your dad told me that that's what he admires to you, that once you put your mind to it, you can accomplish it in no time. So show it to her, Livy. Show her and prove to her that you can do anything once you set your mind to it and that you are more than just a pretty girl." I kissed her neck and she gasped, I bet she didn't expected it.
She turned around and faced me.
"But cooking takes skills. And I don't have that kind of skill, Niccolo." She said sadly. You know, I have a confession to make, I love it whenever she calls me Niccolo ever time she's feeling down or she's complaining about something, or just basically needing me. It feels like all she needed was me and I like it.
"You make hood sandwiches Livy and that's considered as cooking. So it means you have a talent on cooking. You just have to trust yourself." I held his chin with my index finger and kissed the side of her lips to tell her that I have confidence in her.
"But of course if you don't want, it's fine. There's nothing they can do to stop me seeing you. It's purely my decision to--" she cut me off by kissing me slowly.
"I accept Mrs. Knights' offer. Why do you always know what to say, Nick? And please don't you ever ever say that they don't have a say in our relationship. They will be my family eventually so it's just right for me to earn their trust." She told me and brushed my hair.
This woman really has a pure soul. She may look tough and hard to crack on the outside but she strives for acceptance. I guess that's what the media affected her, she wanted acceptance from the people not just she cares for but to everyone.
They destroyed her self confidence by reporting fake news about her. That has to stop, enough is enough. I will destroy anyone who would dare try hurt her and that I vowed to myself.
Then I heard Tessa's knock. She shouted "I hope you two are decent before I open the door. I don't want a repeat of what happened this morning."
Olivia's cheeks flushed and she hid his face on my chest. I laughed and told Tessa that the door is open.
"Thank God. Lunch is ready." She informed us and we followed her to the dining room.
