Chapter 16

Niccolo Knights

I walked out of the elevator and saw Edna, the receptionist of our floor, busy typing on her computer.

"Hello, Edna." I stopped anf greeted in return, she smiled at me warmly.

"Hello, Mr. Knights. I suppose your meeting went smoothly?" she asked

"Yup, but still boring."

"Well I don't think your day would be boring considering that Ms. Olivia is here waiting for you in your office." she said and what? Did I hear it correctly? I looked at Edna with a questioning look and asked, "Olivia who?"

I asked for a clarification because I know for a fact that even when the hell freezes, she will not come to me. But then if she does, maybe Tony's behind it.

"It's Ms. Olivia North. I believe she's one of your important persons in your life right now?" she teased. I was shocked to hear from Edna that it was really the feisty heiress waiting inside my office. Office. Oh, my Lord, Dylan is currently napping. I looked at my wristwatch and saw that it's 12:10 in the afternoon. He would've been awake now from his nap.

I smiled at Edna and walked towards my office with great strides worrying about Dylan crying and how will Olivia handle it.

Before I opened the door to my office, I can already hear Dylan's agonizing cries. As his father, I recognized it as a nightmare cry. So, I quickly opened my door and what I saw was a great shock for me.

There I saw Olivia carried Dylan from his crib and rocked him back and forth, comforting him. She patted his back gently, Dylan stopped crying and leaned his head on Olivia's shoulder. I admit, this is something that I never even thought of. That Olivia knows how and can comfort a toddler, also the way she carries Dylan was as if she'd did it before. What is going on? Is this really Olivia? Or was Edna mistaken this woman as Olivia. My questions were answered when the woman turned around. It was really Olivia North.

She was also surprised to see me but before I can speak, she explained what happened.

"Before you get mad, I swear I didn't do anything to him. He was having a nightmare, so I went to him and woke him up." she explained a little bit panicked was evident in her eyes.

I chuckled, I closed the door gently and replied, "I wasn't mad." At the same time, Dylan moved and turned his head to look at me. He smiled and called me, "Daddy."

I smiled, walked towards them and patted Dylan's head. "Hi, my man, I heard you were having a nightmare. What happened?" I asked concerned.

"Yes. I couldn't fight Thanos, daddy." he said sadly and leaned his head to Olivia's chest. I found it so heartwarming to see Dylan cozying up with Olivia. I looked at Olivia and she was looking at me. I raised my browse at her, and she rolled her eyes and pointed her head to Dylan. Oh yeah, I need to comfort him.

"It's ok, Dylan. You have to eat vegetables, so you'll get stronger to fight Thanos. Come here. You're heavy for Olivia." I said while reaching out to him. I saw realization dawned at Dylan as to whom he was hugging, and he looked up at Olivia. He smiled at her and asked her name politely, "Hewwo, my name is Dywan, may I know what is youw name?"

Olivia chuckled and pinched his cheek with her fingers. "Hello Dylan, my name is Olivia, we've met before." she replied.

This is the first time I saw her in that mood. She's smiling and laughing, not the usual frown marred in her face and the occasionally rolling of her eyes. It's like I'm facing a different Olivia.

"I'm sowwy but I can't wemember." Dylan said to Olivia sadly.

"It's fine, little man." she assured him as she tapped the tip of his nose and Dylan giggled.

I cleared my throat to get the attention of Olivia. She looked at me with a questioning look and commented.

"Do you need water?" she asked, and I didn't fail to see the teasing look in her eyes. I guess this is about my clearing of the throat again. Seriously, why does she keep on noticing the clearing of my throat.

"May I ask what you are doing here?" I asked carefully as I sat on my chair. She too sat on one of the chairs in front of me and sat Dylan on her lap. Dylan took the toy car he left on top of my desk and started playing with it while still sitting on her lap. He was so comfortable with her and vice versa.

"Zac wanted me to give these to you." she said as she handed me the brown envelope.

I took it and looked at its contents quickly. I heard Dylan's giggles and saw that Olivia's tickling him. Oh my god, she really is different today. She's in a good mood and she really looked good carrying and playing with Dylan. Suddenly, Dylan stopped and told us that he was hungry. Oh yeah right, I forgot that it's already lunch.

"I'm sorry buddy, daddy didn't notice the time. What do you want to eat?" I asked

"Fwied chicken and fwench fwies." he said excitedly as he went down from Olivia's lap and jumped excitedly.

"Ok." I smiled as I stood up. Olivia stood up also and spoke, "I should probably go."

"No, join us for lunch. I assume you haven't had lunch yet." I stated as I put my wallet on the back pocket of my trousers.

"No, I'm fine." she said and picked up her handbag.

"Come on Olivia, I insist. Have lunch with us."

"Pwease. Pwease. I want to have lunch with you. Pwetty Pwease." Dylan begged and showed her his puppy eyes that no one could reject. Olivia looked at him and I can see that she's torn between saying no and agreeing. Let's see what she will say.

"Okay, Dylan, as long as your dad pays our lunch." she agreed and carried him. For the hundredth time, I was surprised with her actions. I thought she will say no to Dylan, but I guess no one can really say no to that face.

"I will. Let's go then." I announced before Olivia changes her mind. I saw her struggling to hold her handbag because she's carrying my son, so I reached out to help her carry her bag. She was confused at first but when I pointed her bag, she just smiled at me and said she's fine. As we were headed to the door, we heard a knock and Didith opened it. She looked at me and said that Mr. Uma was on the phone. I told her to tell him that I'm currently having lunch. She nodded and her eyes widened as she saw the woman behind me. I turned and saw Olivia was busy listening to Dylan's blabber about how he likes fried chicken.

I took the opportunity to introduce my secretary to her.

"Olivia, this is Didith, my secretary." I said and she looked up and smiled at her. I looked at Didith and she has a shocked expression on her face. Not only you Didith, I am also shocked to the core, I said to myself.

"Good afternoon, Ms. North." said Didith as she regained herself.

"Afternoon." said Olivia quickly.

"Didith, please hold my calls ok. I'll be gone for an hour." I instructed Didith and she nodded.

I went out first and held the door open for Olivia and Dylan. We walked towards the elevator side by side and I can see that my employees were looking at Olivia who's currently carrying and talking with Dylan.

We passed by Edna and she greeted us, then Olivia smiled at her. The lift arrived, we entered, and I immediately told Dylan to get down and walk on his own. He obeyed, he stood between us, and he held both my and Olivia's hands.

As we arrived at the lobby, Olivia halted us by saying that she needs to get license at the reception. I furrowed my brows not because it was a delay but because she gave her ID to the receptionist. I mean she did not used her 'I'm Olivia North.' card or 'I'm Niccolo Knights' girlfriend.' card. Seriously, what is going on with her today? Was she in a very good mood?

My thoughts were interrupted when she said thank you to Mandy, our building's receptionist. Olivia turned around and looked at me and uttered, "Let's go."

"Give me a minute please." I said as I gave Dylan's hand to her and I turned to talk to Mandy.

"Good afternoon, Mandy. Please do me a favor, the next time Olivia comes, please let her in. I will ask Didith to add Olivia's name in the system so when she comes, she doesn't have to leave her ID, okay." I told Mandy gently and she smiled at me.

"Noted, Mr. Knights." She replied. I nodded and went to Olivia. I saw she's carrying him again. Seriously this is the first time I saw Dylan wanted to be carried around, usually he liked to walk all by himself so he can run around.

Olivia was smiling when she saw me approaching them. Those smiles, I would pay a thousand dollar for that smile to be permanent in her face and I wanted also to be the reason of that smile.

"Let's go?" she asked as I stopped in front of her. I nodded and rest my right hand on her lower back.

"Daddy, I don't like these green beans." Dylan whined. I ordered him a friend chicken with mashed potato and green beans on the side. We are currently eating at Dylan's favorite restaurant, Diña's. I ordered myself angus steak and asparagus while Olivia ordered chicken lasagna and cheeseburger.

Dylan was seated beside Olivia and is in front of me.

"Dylan, I told you, you have to eat vegetables." I said while I wiped his mouth with a napkin.

"But it doesn't taste good." He frowned and huffed. I sighed and picked up his fork full of green beans and pointed it at his mouth for him to open. He leaned back and hid behind Olivia's right arm.

I lowered the fork and sighed. This is not happening again.

"Dylan." I called him in a serious voice. As I call him again, he started to cry and leaned more on Olivia's arm.

"Dylan, stop it. I told you many times that..."

"Dylan, look at me, do you remember your nightmare awhile ago?" Olivia interrupted me and asked Dylan in a very gentle voice. I looked at her and saw that she's shifted Dylan on her lap. Dylan nodded still crying.

"Do you remember also what Daddy told you awhile ago? That you need to eat your veggies so you can fight off Thanos." She said while wiping Dylan's tears. She has a very patient face right now, she doesn't seem to be angry at all. I thought that she would get mad when Dylan started balling, but this woman really surprised me today in all her actions. I kept silent as I watched her how she handles the situation with Dylan.

"Now, tell me, do you want to beat Thanos?" she queried, and Dylan nodded. She continued, "Then you should listen to your Daddy and eat your vegetables. You know, Iron Man not only eats his veggies but also drinks it." She informed Dylan as she lifts him up to face him on the table. She placed him on her lap and before she started feeding him, he told him to apologize to me.

"You know, you have to say sorry to Daddy because you didn't listen to him." she told Dylan while fixing his bib around his neck. Dylan looked at me and apologized. He also leaned to give me a kiss on the cheek.

Dylan surprisingly ate all of his veggies. That was so shocking because he doesn't usually finished all of his vegetables. Seriously, what did Olivia do to make Dylan eat all of his vegetables?

"You know, you should finish your food because I'm almost done." Olivia interrupted my thoughts. I looked at her and for the nth time I was surprised to see she finished all her food. Was she that hungry? If she was, how did she managed to be in a good mood? Shouldn't she be hangry?

"Almost done." I replied and cleared my throat.

When we were done eating, I paid the bills and asked them if they want to have desserts. Of course, my son excitedly agreed, Olivia on the other hand was kind of hesitant to answer.

"You know, if you really have to go, it's fine." I whispered to her as we exited the restaurant.

She looked at me and smiled, "I could really use an ice cream. I don't know about you if you're ok to have sweets."

"What do you mean?" I asked her as I put my left hand on her lower back. I was holding Dylan on the right.

"I don't know, I thought there was something in your throat a while ago." She said seriously but when I looked into her eyes, I saw mischief in it.

I chuckled and we walked to the ice cream parlour.
