"She'd never forgive me."
Fionna sighed. This was getting out of hand. Someone needed to deal with TV... but how? Anyway, she walked through the village, chatting with the townspeople. Then they started singing completely out of the blue, and she blinked. What was going on?
Then she remembered- Disney animated movies, with talking animals (why do some talk, but others don’t?) and/or talking... things. She bought some stuff, avoided the trio of Ashleys (and Flame Prince, who was apparently Gaston...?) and then went home.
Marshall growled at the screen when he saw Flame Prince try to hit on her. And marry her. After some interaction, her father (no, her real father) set off for the fair (as a conman, not an inventor), and then she was brought back to TV’s room. She watched her father get hopelessly lost, as in the story, then Olivia and Marshall were zapped in.
Olivia was Mrs. Potts, and she didn’t seem too happy about it. But she made Jacob feel at home, all the same. Then Marshall came storming in. Nothing really seemed different about him- his fangs were longer and his hair was tousled, but Fionna couldn’t really see the difference.
He caught sight of Jacob and frowned. “What are you doing here?” He asked, clearly annoyed.
“Pardon me sir, I was hopelessly lost...” Jacob said.
“Don’t call me sir- it makes me feel as though my father’s standing over my shoulder.” Marshall said.
“Yes...?”
“Marshall. My name is Marshall.” He said.
“Yes... Marshall.”
“Wait a second- I know those eyes. Do you have a daughter, by any chance?”
“Yes, she’s my pride and joy.” Jacob said. But his smile was not of a happy father, it was of a shifty businessman.
Marshall smiled wistfully, not noticing. “Yeah. She’s the ray of sunshine in my life. Except, she doesn’t burn me.” He added with a grin.
“Marshall, if I may ask...”
“Ask away. And you don’t have to ask to ask. I hate all the frills and fanciness of things.”
“Yes... how do you know Belle? And what exactly are you?”
“I’m a vampire. Isn’t it obvious?” Marshall asked, grinning at Jacob again.
“What about Belle?”
“What about her?”
“How do you know her?”
“Let’s just say... we’re old friends.”
“How did that happen?”
“To be honest, I’m not exactly sure myself. Wait, wait, wait, sorry, I’m not following the story correctly.”
“Story?”
“Have you heard the tale of ‘Beauty and the Beast’?”
“A little.”
“Well, basically, we’re supposed to be at the part where the Beast locks up the father, and Beauty comes to rescue him. Or does Beast let the father go in exchange for Beauty...? I don’t know, I haven’t heard the story in a while.”
“Which version?” Olivia piped up, finally getting into the conversation.
“Any of them.” Marshall replied smoothly.
“Then yeah, we’re at the part where Beast locks up the father and Beauty comes to rescue him.”
“But you see, if I do that, she’ll never forgive me. However, she won’t have a reason to come here, and she’ll probably end up marrying Gaston.” Marshall was too absorbed in his own sadness to notice the shifty smile return.
“What’s wrong with Gaston?” Jacob wondered, knowing the key to the whole thing was Gaston.
Marshall shot him a look, then bit his lip, wondering what to tell him.
“You seem like a fine young man, even with all the stories.” Jacob said.
“I can be mean when I want.” Marshall insisted.
Olivia rolled her eyes. “Like?”
“Well, I’m a vampire, aren’t I? And I’m pretty sure it was Siofra who cursed me, so I must have done something, not just as a story arc.”
“Because of that ‘fairy’ thing? Please, Marshall.” Olivia scoffed.
“Hey, we followed it for a while.” He said.
Jacob cleared his throat. “Why don’t I just send Belle to you? I know you’ll take care of her, you already seem to know her, and you’re concerned about how she is in the village.”
Marshall and Olivia looked at him incredulously. “Walt Disney is rolling in his grave.” Olivia finally muttered.
Marshall shot her a look, then looked back to Jacob. “In exchange for...?”
“Letting me go free.”
“You’re not a prisoner.” Marshall said, frowning.
“That doesn’t mean I won’t be.” Jacob said, finally showing his true colors.
Marshall closed his eyes. “It would hurt her if she ever found out.”
“Is that a yes, or a no?” Jacob asked, grinning maliciously.
“Fine. You can start for your provincial town in the morning.” Marshall snapped, rising out of his chair and walking away swiftly.
