Pilot - V

"So that's your story, a guy in a green hood flew in, and single-handedly took out three armed kidnappers. I mean who is he? Why, why, why would he do that?" the man who came into the room and was asking Lizzies father and Tommy and Lizzie questions. The man looked a little annoyed as he came into the room. Lizzie was sitting on her father's lap and fidgeting with the hem of her shirt, trying to ignore the stares from the people in uniform. Oliver had a slight fake smile on his face.

"I don't know. Find him and you can ask," Oliver said, fully knowing who and why he did it. The man nodded, still annoyed, maybe angry.

"Yeah. What about you? You see the hood guy?" the man held up the sketch of Shadows hood with Oliver wearing, only really seeing the chin.

"I saw... just movement," Tommy looked to Oliver. "Everything blurry. I, I was kind of out of it." Tommy turned back to the man asking questions. Lizzie didn't quite understand what was going on.

"And what you, kid? You see a man in a hood?" the man turned to me. Lizzie swallowed, and shook her head. She was chewing her lip, not liking the attention that was place on her.

"Yeah. It's funny, isn't it? One day back and already somebody's gunning for you. Be happy they didn't hurt your 'little girl'. Wouldn't want anything bad happening to her now would you?" Oliver looked down and took a deep breath. Moira gave a look to the man. "Aren't you popular?"

"Were you able to identify the men?" Moira said, trying to change the subject. Oliver looked at Lizzie and whispered something and Lizzie smiled in agreement.

"Scrubbed identities, untraceable weapons," the man standing next to Miss Raisa said to Moira. He seemed nicer than the one asking questions. "These were pros."

"Yeah," the first man agreed. "Well, they probably figured you pay a king's ransom to get your boy and granddaughter back, or a Queen's ransom as it were." He scoffs after the joke he made. "After all, a parent would do anything to keep their child safe," the man looked to Oliver with a look that Lizzie couldn't really decipher.

"I don't find your tone appropriate, detective," Moira said to the man as he was looking at Oliver which he could now tell as hate. Walter was nodding in agreement with Moira.

"If Oliver or Elizabeth can think of anything else, we'll be in touch," Walter said while getting up to go to the man asking questions. Walter looked to both men and said, "Thank you, gentlemen, for coming."

The man, or 'detective' as Moira put it, scoffed and shook his head. He then grabbed his bag and then stood up, he put on a fake smile looked to Oliver again. Oliver placed Lizzie where he was sitting on the couch as he stood up.

"Your luck never seems to run out, does it?" he asked Oliver as he was turning to leave. The two men were walking out and Miss Raisa was leading them to the door. Tommy looked at Oliver as Oliver went to the window and stood their.

Now Lizzie's POV

"Papa, are you going to help Miss Laurel?" I asked my father in Russian. I still spoke softly and stuttered a little, not from not being able to speak the language, but from not talking much. Papa looked down at me from where I was sitting on his chair at his desk. He was Dutch braiding my hair, Sarah taught him how to when she met me. I saw that Papa was looking up an Adam Hunt. I recognized him from the book that Mr. Queen gave Papa. I don't remember much of when we first got there, but from the Papa is, it wasn't good. Papa always tried to protect me, I knew I was adopted, but it didn't make anything different.

"Yeah, Liz. I am," he said softly in Russian. As he was finishing up braiding my hair, he grabbed the leather book and started looking at the names. Miss Raisa then walked in with a tray of food.

"You are different. Not like you to read a book," she said as she walked over to the desk. Papa smiled as he quickly closed the tabs and book. He walked over to Raisa and grabbed the two trays she held and put them on the desk.

"Thank you. I missed you, Raisa," Papa said as he leaned against the desk as I picked at the food, it was a lot of food for me to even look at.

"No kitchen on the island," Raisa said nodding along.

"No. No friends either," he said looking up thoughtfully.

"Papa, I thought I was your friend?" I asked him jokingly.

"Yes, but you are also my daughter," he laughed as he told me. Miss Raisa chuckled at what I said.

"Yes, are a very smart little girl," Miss Raisa said in Russian to me. I looked at her in shock. She chuckled at my face. My cheeks went red from embarrassment.

"Do I really seem different?" Papa asked Miss Raisa.

"No. You're still a good boy," Miss Raisa told him.

"W-was he a ha-handful? Wh-when he w-was y-younger?" I stuttered out in English. Papa gave me a smile at me trying to speak English.

"Oh, I think we both know I wasn't," Papa told Miss Raisa. Miss Raisa offered a small smile.

"No, but a good heart," she said to him. I smiled.

"I hope so," Papa said, mostly to himself.

"Look at you. You have a daughter that loves you and you love her. You would protect her from anything," Miss Raisa told him.

"B-but is th-there?" I asked again after a moment. Both adults laughed at my question.

"Where are we going?" I asked in sign language. I was sitting on  Papa's hip as we were leaving the Mansion. Papa was about to answer when Miss Moira walked up to us with a smile. Mr. Walter and a man I didn't recognize stood behind her.

"Oliver, Elizabeth. I wanna introduce you to someone," she said as she pulled us over to where a car was parked in front of the Mansion. The man I didn't recognize stood in front of, looking like an officer waiting for an order. Papa looked to the man and back to his mother. "John Diggle. He'll be accompanying you both from now on."

"We don't need a babysitter," Papa gave an awkward chuckle.

"Darling, Oliver's a grown man and has a daughter. And if he doesn't feel that him and Elizabeth needs armed protection-" Mr Walter started.

"You know, I understand, but this is something I need," Miss Moira said to Walter. I avoided saying anything with Miss Moira or Mr Walter around. Something was off with them. Papa looked from his mother to John Diggle, then to me. He sighed and nodded.

"So..." Papa started. Papa and I were in the backseat of his car while John Diggle was driving. I almost chuckled from all the awkwardness. I noticed that he seemed to act like he was in the army. "... what do I call you?"

"Diggle's good. Dig if you want," Mister 'Dig' replied.

"You're ex-military?" Papa read my mind.

"Yes, sir. 105th airborne out of Kandahar, retired," Mister Dig told him. I looked to Papa, he looked back at me and put a finger to his mouth. He knew I was thinking about when he was placed with the Army people. Bad memories. "Been in the private sector a little more than four years now. I don't want there to be any confusion, Mr and Miss Queen. My ability to keep you from harm will outweigh your comfort."

Papa looked at me a then to the door. I nodded knowing that we were going to jump out of the car.

I was holding Papa's hand as we walked through the Glades to where the abandoned Queen building was. Papa's other hand had the box that held three bow and arrows and throwing knives. Papa looked at the fence and then to me. I nodded and started to climb the fence and jump over. Papa came after me. He picked up the two bags and grabbed my hand. We started to the building.

"Wanna help me clean up?" he asked me. I smiled and nodded. We started cleaning the warehouse and Papa started working out. I did the same with him.

Papa wanted me to stay at the mansion with Miss Raisa, but I wouldn't for two reasons; one, I didn't want to leave him. Two, I knew he was going to do something and I didn't want him to get hurt. Even if I was only seven, I experienced life sooner than I should have. So, here I was standing in front of Papa getting into the car. I saw Mister Dig sitting on the other side.

"Put on your seat belt, sir and miss. Wouldn't want you to miss your party," Mister Dig said as Papa came and sat next to me. I put my seat belt on, it took a moment to figure out how it works and Papa had to help me at the end.

"I know it's not my place to say, but you had to bring your seven-year-old daughter to this kind of event?" I heard Mister Dig saw as he was talking to Papa outside of the car.

"She won't leave my side. So, I won't make her. She is my daughter and I will bring her with me wherever I go," Papa said. I smiled.

"Who will watch her. This is not the place to bring a little girl," Mister Dig asked.

"Raisa is right behind us. She will watch over Lizzie as we are at the party," Papa lied. I knew he was lying because I was going to go with his as went to go see if Adam Hunt will live up to what I like to call, 'The Green Arrow,' has asked of him.

"Alright," Mister Dig said, he seemed hesitant but went along anyway.

"Come on, Liz," Papa whispered as I waited by where cameras couldn't see me.

The elevator opened as Papa walked out of it. I hid in the shadows as Papa fought the bad men. I only watched the fights; I knew how to fight but I didn't like doing it that much.

When Papa was done, he left on of his arrows in the wall that would transfer money to bank accounts of his choosing. I then went back to my hiding place, and waited till Papa came to get me.

We went back to the mansion and Papa put me to bed but I wasn't able to fall asleep due to the storm raging outside so I asked Papa to sing for me. I don't know where Papa heard the song but it always calms me.

"Child be not afraid

The rain pounds hard against the glass

Like an unwanted stranger,

There is no danger

I am here tonight

Right by your side

Little child, be not afraid

Though thunder explodes

And lightning flash

Illuminates, your tear-stained face

I am here tonight

Right by your side

And someday you'll know

Thank nature is so

The same rain that draws you near me

Falls on Rivers and the land

And forests and the sand

That makes the beautiful world you see in the morning

I am here tonight

Right by your side

Little child, be not afraid

The storm clouds mask

Your beloved moon

And its candlelight beams

Still keep pleasant dreams

I am here tonight

Right by your side

Little child, be not afraid

The wind makes creatures of our trees

And the branches to hands

They're not real, understand

And someday you'll know

That nature is so

The same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and the land

And the forests and the sand

That makes the beautiful world you see in the morning

You know, once even I

Was a little child

And I was afraid

But a gentle someone always came

To dry all my tears

Trade sweat sleep for the fears

And to give a kiss goodnight

Well, now I am grown

And these years have shown

Rain's apart of how life goes

But it's dark and it's late

So, I'll hold you and wait

'Till your frightened eyes do close

And someday you'll know

That nature is so

The same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and the land

And the forests and the sand

That makes the beautiful world you see in the morning

Everything's fine in the morning

The rain will be gone in the morning

But I'll still be here in the morning..."

I fell asleep as Papa was singing and soon after Papa fell asleep right next to me.

No One's POV

Moira watched as Oliver sang to his daughter, she felt a heartwarming feeling in her. She was proud of her son. She walked outside her mansion and met with someone.

"The police failed to identify the men I hired to kidnap Oliver. They never will. Should we arrange another abduction?" The man who Moira was talking with, out secretly.

"No. There are other ways of finding out what my son knows," Moira said.
