The realization

They are not in a relationship in this chapter

As Jason sat at his desk in art class, Olive snuck up behind him with a bottle of olive green paint and dumped half of it on his head. "Ahhhhh! Olive, what the heck?!"

"Oh, apologies, I did not see you there."

"What are your talking about?! Of course, you saw me, I'm sitting right in front of you!"

"Eh, I guess you are so short that I did not see you, my bad."

"Olive Griffins, there's a special place, in the deepest pits of hell, just for you!"

"Yes, I know that Jason, it is called a throne," Olive muttered as she stalked off.

As a paint soaked, dumbstruck Jason sat there, watching Olive stalk off, he realized something. And that something was that he, Jason Gray, had a crush on Olive Griffins.

He avoided her for the rest of the day.

-After School-

"Hey, mom?" Jason called as he walked in through the front door.

"Yes, my dea- Ahhhhh! Jason Gray, what did you do to your hair?! And your shirt. . . Why are they green?!"

"Oh, that. Olive dumped paint on me during art class."

"Why on earth would she do that?"

"I told you before, she hates me. But we have more important things to talk about right now," Jason said as he sat down on the couch, patting a spot right next to him.

"What could possibly be more important? Wait a minute! Are you on drugs?" His mother yelled.

"What? No! What would you even think that? I'm not on drugs, I have a crush, that's all. . . and I need some advice."

"Really?" his mother whispered.

"Yeah mom, really. Don't make it so weird."

"Oh, finally!" She cried as she rushed over to take the seat next to her son, "I've been waiting forever for this! Now, what's her name, or his name, are you gay? Or bi? Cause either way I'd still love to give you advice!"

"No mom, I'm not gay, or bi. The girl that I like is named Olive Griffins."

"Olive? Olive Griffins? The same Olive Griffins that poured paint on you?"

"Yeah?"

"I thought you hated her."

"I did, but not anymore."

"What made you change your mind?"

"Well, it was a combination of things, she's beautiful, talented, smart, funny and so much more. But what pushed me past the tipping point was what happened today, which was that after she dumped paint on me she claimed that she couldn't see me because I was so short so then I said, "Olive Griffins, there's a special place, in the deepest pits of hell, just for you!", and then she replied with, and I quote, "Yes I know that Jason, it is called a throne.", and then she just walked away. Can you believe that?! She just walked away! That's another reason I like her, she has a great personality and lots of attitude. Anyways, what I need advice on is how to make her like me when she already hates me."

"Umm, I don't actually know Jason, you can be very nice to be around when you want to be, just try to be nice to her and hope for the best. You guys are in the same school so you have some time. Try becoming her friend first, then work on making her like you. But remember, in the end, it's her choice, you can't force her to be in a relationship with you if she doesn't want to, okay?"

"Okay."

"I think that just about covers everythi- oh wait! Don't bring her around your little brother unless absolutely necessary, because trust me when I say this, he will embarrass the shit out of you."

"Mom!"

"Sorry sweetie, but I needed to make a point."

"Point made then."

"Good. And Jason?"

"Yeah mom?"

"She sounds lovely."

"Thanks, mom, she is."

"You're welcome."
