Where would we be without the lie?

Conceivably the King would asks, "Do you like my tie?"

Perhaps, mother asks if you liked her apple pie,

Or perchance your wife rolls over and demands a reply,

"Were you satisfied? And you were not;

Oh, what woes we have wrought

If we cannot tell a lie.
