Chapter 3: The Past Haunts like Nothing Else

When I woke up, I didn't realize where I was at first. But as I pushed the blue traveler's cloak on me away, I remembered. As I looked around I realized that I heard some thing. Traveling over the soft, dry desert air came the soft strumming of a lute. As I approached I saw Abuz in a white t-shirt and some tan pants strumming his lute and humming the tune to a song. It was a beautiful instrament, made of some golden wood and sounded like a waterfall.

I've been many places and seen many things and most wonder and awe will bring,

But there are many hard times, wandering alone, friendless and hopeless, all that's left is to roam,

And what I've learned is this:
Hope is never gone, hold your head high, keep your smile bright, and don't give up for life goes on.

I've viewed many things of grandeur built on swathes of green, and towering castles, yes great things I've seen,

I have seen things of terror, battles raging red, people going hungry to feed soldiers, all too soon dead,

And this is what I've learned:
Hope is never ling, hold your head high, keep your smile bright, and don't give up for life goes on.

"Wow," I said, stepping out from behind the sand dune he'd been leaning against. "Pretty song," I complimented. 'I like it too,' said Tanya. "Tanya likes it too." "Thanks," he said, with a small grin that slowly grows confused, "Tanya?" he asks. "Looong story," I said, trying to wave it off. "I have time," he said. I sighed, and walked over and sat by him and we sat for a bit, listening to the darkness. "Alright... maybe later."

"So what's your reason?" He asked. "My reason?" I countered. "Well," he started carefully. "I don't take you for a fool and only fool's come here with no reason." "Like you?" I teased. "Hey!" He replied. "I have my reasons! I'm training. So, now that I've told you, you tell me." I sighed.

"I guess it can't hurt to tell you. So, here's my, and I quote, 'Loooong story'. You see, it all started when my mother died giving birth to my little sister and I became the woman of the home, I'd been taking mother's responsibilities upon myself for a while I'd gone to get water, and the house had been destroyed by a dragon and my father killed." He stared at me in half confusion and half shock, and I went on. "Then I was spoken to by Tanya, who is the heart of the wind/sky dragon and we merged so I could keep Wendy and myself alive. Now I am the power source of Wendy who is training to be a wind/sky dragon slayer. I am here trying to find her." As I finished I looked up at the stars. "I know I'll not find her for a while, but I can only try." 'Are you sure we can trust him?' 'Yes.' I told Tanya.

He smiled a but and then spoke," Well, how do you plan to find this Wendy? By getting yourself killed in the desert?" He started laughing but stopped as I half-hardheartedly whacked him on the head. "No, I was trying to get to the town across the, desert by becoming wind, but I ran out of power 'cause I forgot to let a spell go." I sighed. "Well," he said. "Since you've still got some desert to travel and it'll take another day to recover, why don't I travel with you?"

I shrugged, thinking about it. "Sure." I said. "But well leave tomorrow to Rose Garden, got it?" "Mmhm," he said closing his eyes. Soon his breathing was slow and rhythmic so I brought over the cloak and draped it over him, then I wrapped my cloak around myself and fell into a deep sleep.

Yet again, guys, sorry it's short, and I've been doing a bit of editing since I wrote most of this on my phone and now I have my chromebook back so I can type! SOO MUCH EASIER!!! Trust me. Well, SEE YA!!!
