Chapter 1: At the Beginning [Edited]
"Crystal! Crystal!" calls my mother from the other side of the meadow, looking anxious. "Be careful!" I smile and laugh. "I am mom! It's nothing! If Daisy can do it, I can to!" I continue walking across the river via the newly fallen tree. My mother, Gem the Espeon, continues to watch nervously. I continue to confidently stride across the log. Suddenly, I lost my footing, and fell, my mother quickly catching me with psychic.
"Like I said, Crystal, you need to be more careful!" she scolded me as she set me down next to her gently, nuzzling my neck fur. I hand my head sheepishly, "Sorry Mom..." "It's okay, Crystal, just be careful!" she says, smiling gently. I nod, "I promise Mom!" Daisy comes running over. "I'm sorry, Crystal, I shouldn't have gone across, or told you to, I didn't know you would slip!" "It's okay!" I said, smiling, back to my cheerful self. "I'm okay, you're okay, Mom says it's okay, let's play!"
"Okay Crystal! Crystal! CRYSTAL!" I jerked awake to the sound of my name. Fang was shaking me vigorously trying to wake me. "Whadda ya want Fang?" I groaned. "It's the first day of school, Crys! We need to be ready, and besides, Dad was gonna come up!" I groaned, and shot out of bed. Ever since my mother had disappeared, presumably dead, my father had changed. No longer the same loving Mightyena he once was, he was bitter and easily lashed out at anything that reminded him of Gem. Most commonly, me.
At least I had Daisy and Fang to keep my hopes up, I generally didn't get it to badly from dad, with Fang around, but sometimes when he caught me alon- No, Crys, don't think about that. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts. I snapped back into reality when I ran into a wall. Shaking my head I ran to the kitchen, gobbled a pecha berry, ran outside and dunked into the lake (their equivalent of a shower) and dried myself off on the Sunblossom fuzz towel that Mom had made for me.
I ran back to the house. "Come on Fang, you ready to go?" I asked the poochyena, who was nervously pacing. "I was, but I don't know, Crys, what if they don't like me and I don't make friends? What if everyone thinks I'm stupid? What if-" I cut him off. "Fang, bud, you'll do fine, c'mon! We're going to be late!" He yelped in surprise and followed me out of the house towards school shouting his goodbyes to dad along the way.
We ran down our street and through the woods. Thankfully we got to school on time, we split to home rooms, and I managed to get to my home room before the bell rang. "Alright class, settle down!" called my new teacher, Mr. Dash, a Rapidash. "I am your new teacher, Mr. Dash, and I need to take attendance!"
I patiently sat in my seat and waited for him to be done. At home I may be a slightly unwanted idiot child, but at school I could be myself sweet, sensitive, nervous, quiet, and extremely shy. Sure, I could be popular if I wanted, but I didn't want to, I wanted good grades, and good friends. My mother always told me that you always want to make sure your friends are good people, because your life might be in their hands one day. Of course, so far, only Daisy and I had really gotten along to the point where I trusted her with my life.\
Daisy quickly slid into the desk next to mine. "Oh my Arceus, Crystal! You were almost late! Your precious perfect attendance gone before it had even begun!" she joked. I groaned. "Daisy, really?" "No, no it would end the world, the perfect student, late for the first day of school! The world might implode!" she insisted. "You can't just let this drop, can you?" "Nope!" She sang. "Just too much fun!" I couldn't come up with a good comeback so I just groaned again, face desking.
She giggled, finally dropping the subject and glanced at my coat, her eyes lighting up. "On a different note, you look SO gorgeous today!" squealed Daisy. "Your silver coat is practically shining!" I grinned, another thing I had in common with my mother was my unique coloring, my silver fur was envied by many a pokemon, but I really didn't feel all that different. "Thanks!" I said, smiling, it's always nice to get compliments. "That's so nice of you to say, Daisy, but I KNOW I don't look that good. I didn't even get to brush this morning! I swear I need to get an alarm clock!" "No, no, no," she insisted. "I'm serious! You. Are. GORGEOUS!!! Maybe even Ripple will fall for you!" I laughed. "Daisy, even if Ripple DID fall for me I'd never fall for him, he's just the neighborhood superstar! You know that! And even if we did end up together, I'd be dead within' the day!" I joked, putting a paw over my heart.
"Yeah, well he's a superstar for a REASON, he's HOT!!!" she squealed jumping up and down, ignoring my last comment. "Daisy, please stop jumping," Mr. Dash asked politely, and Daisy immediately stopped. "Yes, Mr. Dash!" she replied. "Thank you." he replied with a small smile. "Now, we have an announcement. As you all know, according to the law at a certain age each one of us must leave to start our own home, our own life. For this class this time is next week, please remember to talk to your parents about travel conditions and bag packing, and the like because you will be leaving then." I sighed with longing, I couldn't wait. One more week with dad and I would be out of here, sure I would miss Fang but we could always visit each other!
All too soon the bell rang and I headed off to history of Pokemon. It was one of my favorite classes, and Ms. Sunny, the bellossom, taught us about the legionaries and their histories. My favorite legendary was Mew, Mew was so amazing! She could shape-shift and had amazing psychic power! I was sad when the bell rang and it was time for math.
Math was boring, like always. We just learned about how to put two and two together. It wasn't that hard, even though it was honors. Next I had academic support and I managed to get my math homework done, by some miracle. After that I spent the entire class talking with Daisy and fooling around. I turned around a few times to catch Ripple staring, or did I, that couldn't be it, right? He was probably looking at the poster behind me... yeah! Totally!"
After Science, Music, and Lunch, I finally had Battle class. I loved battle class, it was where we learned how to survive in the wild and use our attacks. I already knew tackle, bite, scratch, and hidden power for attacks, and memorized the giant berry chart along with the different ways to build shelters in trees and out of different materials. Currently, I was working on fine tuning hidden power though, I was having trouble with my accuracy.
"Hidden Power!" I called and tried to point the glowing green orb towards the target. I did HIT it, but only barely, on the outside ring. I was really having trouble with this. I tried it a few more times with little success. Soon, probably tired of watching me fail, Ripple walked up. "You need some help?" he asked, kindly. When I say that RIpple was a superstar, Daisy was right. It was for a reason. Not only was he really cute, but he was the kindest, most thoughtful guy I had ever met!
"I guess..." I sighed, a little nervously. Together worked on it for the rest of class. We started by going over the Hidden Power section in the moves book, and me explaining to him how I did it, as it was slightly different for each pokemon. And actually, near the end of class I actually got the 'Orb of Power' as we dubbed it, to hit a bulls eye! "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes" I cheered, jumping up and down as Daisy did when she was excited. "You did it!" he cheered. We looked at each other and grinned, this was fun! I enjoyed working with another pokemon, and I think he did too.
All too soon, the bell rang again. "Alright class!" said our teacher, Mr. Stripe, the Lucario. "Head to homeroom for the end of the day! I walked back with Ripple, Daisy, and unwillingly, with the fan girls. If there is anything I hated more than the fact that my mother was gone, it was fangirls. All the googly eyes, and the 'inconspicuous' drooling, partnered with their 'whispers' was just a little much... For once I was soooooo glad that my Homeroom wasn't that far away. So, I politely thanked him and went into Mr. Dash's classroom with Daisy. Leaving the fangirls, and sadly, my new friend behind. This day was awesome, and nothing was ever going to bring me down!
**LINEBREAK!!!**
-Boom- There, that was you guy's brains, didn't know I liked Pokemon, did ya? Well I LOVE IT!!! ESPECIALLY EEVEES!!! So yeah! Tell me how I did!
