Chapter 7 ~ Recruiting a Sniper while beating a Sebastian-look-alike. (Part 1)

First off, I apologise for not updating for a while. Though honestly, it was only one month. Not too long, right?

I'm going to skip some dialogue.

I do know that I have a lot of stories and that's mostly because I like 'starting stories' or 'coming up with the ideas' but I don't really enjoy writing the beginnings.

And by that I mean introduction: introducing the characters personality, making sure you leave nothing important off in a chapter, or just figuring out what the plot you adjust will lead too. That stuff. Quite annoyingly stressing actually.

The reason I started writing in the first place is because I have these ideas that I want to read but no one ever wrote them. Or their are stories which are good, but at the end it seems to fall. Or maybe I'm just picky.

In case you loyal readers haven't noticed, most of my male oc's, especially Akira, are quite feminine. That really can't be helped on my part because the look I'm going for is a 'feminine-yet-male-prince-like-bishionen'

Also, I'm a girl. Don't really know what guys think like.

The main reason I went for a male oc in this fanfic is because most One Piece Oc fanfics, have a female lead. While that's fine and all, I dislike how the female oc is strong at first, but then falls all blubbery and weak through romance.

I also hate how almost all female ocs seem to go for Trafaglar Law or Portgas D. Ace. I have nothing against those two, I do love them after all and I am planning to make them a somewhat big character in this fanfic, but I kind of wish that there were more fanfics where the oc doesn't fall in love.

That's my main problem with female ocs.

And the little One Piece male oc fanfics out there are usually M-rated or have a harem. Yeah...nothing against lemons, but I rather not.

Well, more of my rant will probably be published on my 'Neko1290 news' book because I really need to let go and rant.

Oh, and back to the main topic which started this mini-rant: Since I don't know if I can write or even finish most of my new ideas (which I haven't mentioned), I'm planning on publishing these ideas on "Neko1290 News!" for anyone else to try and write. Just wanted to tell you that.

Its not advertising, rather hoping that someone would write a nice story which everyone, including myself, can enjoy.

P.S. OK, so maybe I'm advertising...just a bit~;P

P.P.S. In case you don't know, I'm trying to lay off the habit of using POVS in my stories. So I'm going to do a no Pov chapter from now on. Or at least trying to.

On to the chapter~

~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~

A young blond hair girl gripped her bed sheets as she stared at the same wall that she seen for years. Her eyebrows were crinkled in slight frustration, confusion, and sadness.

"Usopp...." She whispered in loneliness.

"Hello, Miss Kaya. You seem quite frazzled over the current events." A melodic voice sounded from her right.

Her head turned and immediately caught sight of a young boy, a child, with blue eyes that reflected her own. His easy stare seemed to see every secret she ever had. Turquoise blue eyes that seemed to possess more wisdom and knowledge then a child should have.

The wind blew gently against his hair...blue hair? No, Turquoise? She didn't even know what colour it was, but it reminded her of the sea as the hair flying the wind reminded her of ocean waves she stared at daily with nothing else to do.

The boy was sitting on her window sill with crossed legs, a relaxed yet guarded look was on his face as his eyes sometimes drifted to her door as if he was expecting someone to enter.

"Who...are you?" She asked, slightly dazed for some reason.

The ocean-eyed child smiled a small smile and radiated a child like aura. But Kaya knew better.

This was no mere child.

"Meredith D. Akira. First-mate of the Straw Hat Pirates. I'm sure you met my captain and the rest of my crew earlier. Its a pleasure to meet you." He nodded his head in greeting.

Kaya's mind briefly remembered a skinny boy who wore a straw hat. Usopp said he was trying to recruit him right? And he also wanted a new ship if she recalled correctly.

She heard a lot about pirates mainly from Usopp. She remember him saying that a first-mate is in second command when the captain is unavailable and is also the captain's right hand man. She thought the scary-looking green-haired man with three swords was the first-mate, but this boy was?

"First-mate...? You are...?" Kaya unconsciously voiced out her thoughts.

The boy known as Akira looked more amused rather then offended. "I suppose I don't seem like it. After all, I'm still considered a child. Zoro seems more like a first-mate then I do..though that is expected...." Akira whispered the last part to himself quietly as if alone.

"Expected...?"

Akira smirked. "Ma, its fine. Its not like I won't respect Zoro any less. He would probably be the first-mate if I didn't show up. Fufufu...I hope he doesn't bare a grudge, though it would make things quite interesting...though Zoro isn't like that. Anyway, this appearance makes people doubt me, which ultimately makes battles a lot easier...though that fact is kind of disappointing. I could use a more challenging fight these days..."

So she was right. This boy isn't ordinary. He speaks so confidently yet you can't seem to accuse him of being arrogant.

"Anyway, we're getting off topic here. I came here the help you because I've taken a liking to you Miss Kaya."

Kaya slightly blushed at the compliment since she didn't receive those often seeing she had little social contact. "Help me? With what?"

Akira jumped down from hit spot at the window sill and put his hands in his pocket, his smile turning slightly more crooked into a smirk. "Well, today is predicted to have quite a lot of heart-shocking events. Considering your...illness, I thought I might as well cure it before me and my crew leave with a new crewmate. Wouldn't want to you dying of shock because whats going to happen."

Kaya looked down. "I doubt you can do anything. Even the town's doctor says its an unknown illness. Its pointle--"

"Unknown because its not an illness at all." The blue-eyed boy interrupted. "Its something your own mind made you think. To simply put it: Mental stress. Your body has no illness and would be perfectly healthy, but your own mind and self are putting unnecessary stress on it which causes it to be like...well this." His arm gestured to her slightly.

"....I think somewhere inside I knew. I am striving to be a doctor after all. But I don't think I can get over my mental stress."

"Sure you can. In another setting, I might have called you a coward, but I know you aren't like that. The cure to your illness is actually quite simple. Its almost humorous but then again almost anything serious in this world turns funny in the end."

Kaya's eyes widened as Akira pulled a silver ring that was attached to a string out of his pocket. "The easy answer to this problem is hypnotism. I think you are already over your grief. You just happen to be a surprisingly stubborn soul to admit that you are ready for change. Ma, the events that happen today will probably be the final push you need to get out of your mind prison."

"Your a hypnotist?"

"Nope. But I know how this thing works."

"Where did you get that?"

"Saa na...You could say I borrowed it from someone I know. He seemed fine with it. He was silent when I asked if he had any problems."

~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~

Somewhere on the island....

A strange looking hippie with heart glasses who was actually a pirate stood up and touched a bump on his head as he winced at the pain.

He remembered vaguely what happened and instantly regretted it as he shivered with fear.

"A blue demon...I just saw a blue demon...."

He reached into his pocket for his hypnotist instrument ring in hopes to hypnotise himself to forget the memory. "Huh?! Where is it? Did I drop it somewhere?" The man now known as Jango looked around.

It was then he noticed the sun. "OH SH*T! ITS ALMOST THAT TIME! Captain Kuro is going to kill me." He started panicking.

"Forget about it! I have an extra on the ship! I'll find it later!" And with that, the hypnotist sped off.

~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~

Akira left the mansion with a satisfied expression. Miss Kaya, sadly, was quite naive. Akira had to show some proof in his ability to hypnotise. So he hypnotised an innocent fox (in reality, Eve in his Evee form) to do some tricks and apparently, that was enough to fully convince the young mistress.

In reality, Akira had no idea how to hypnotise and doesn't plan to learn how. He just did exactly what Jango did in the anime along with secretly playing a hypnotic melody in the background. If he remembered correctly, one of Evee's other forms can use hypnotism. But that's for battle, and he rather not take any risks.

Like he said to the young mistress earlier, she is perfectly fine. Just mental stress. And she can cure that all on her own.

All he did was cure/fool her mind into thinking she is cured.

Sounds a little cruel, but all in all, everything turned out fine in the end. Akira managed to convince her to rest for this week 'just in case' and to keep it a secret so she could 'surprise' everyone later.

But again, in reality, Akira wanted her to be quiet just in case so Kuro doesn't know, and he wanted her to rest for the week because he really rather have her not be involved in any bloodthirsty battles against the fake-Sebastian-Michaelis-wannabe-butler and his crew.

Right now, Luffy is probably at the bottom of a cliff and Usopp should be racing here to warn Kaya and the villagers. Ma, nothing too exciting happening.

Finding a good tree he lied down. "I'll just take a little nap...half an hour should be fine."

While he was suspecting he has insomnia (the inability to sleep), a human needs to sleep right?

Would it be right to wish that insomnia is contagious? He would love to see how Zoro would survive with it~

~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~

FEW HOURS LATER...

~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~

Usopp grinned as he dumped the last barrel of slippery oil down the slope. "Hehehehe...With this, those pirates will never be able to get up, then the great sniper king I am, Usopp the Great, will snipe them down one by one." He said with his nose pointed high as if proud.

"Yeah!" Luffy cheered while Nami looked unsure of the plan. Zoro just looked bored.

"Are you sure the pirates will come on this side of the island?" Nami asked with narrowed eyes at the oiled slope.

Usopp snorted. "Of course, this was the shore Kuro washed up at! His crew will surely come to this spot!"

"Oi Luffy! There's some noise coming up from the other side of the island." Zoro said, looking up as he saw a few seagulls flying away.

"Senchou, a pirate crew with the Black Cat pirate flag is sailing here towards the north slope of the island." Akira jumped down from no where with his hands in his pockets and Eve on his shoulder.

"EEEK! WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!" Nami and Usopp screamed in shock because Akira landed right between them.

Akira looked confused. "Up. Where else? Didn't you see me napping on the tree?" He pointed to the tree right above their heads.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING NAPPING AT A CRISIS LIKE THIS!?" Nami raged as he tried to hit Akira in the head. The blue eyed boy dodged effortlessly, not taking his eyes off his captain nor his expression changing.

"From what I can see, you want to protect this island for Usopp AKA Pinocchio-san AKA our-new-crewmate-slash-sniper. Well, the pirates are at north and are due to come at any minute now."

"Right! North!" He then took off running towards the east.

"YOU IDIOT! That's north!" Nami screeched. Luffy turned back and gave her a confused look, but not stopping.

"What are you talking about Nami? Going where its coldest is heading north, right?" A innocent grin plastered his face as he was soon out of sight.

"..."

"THAT IDIOT!" Nami and Usopp yelled.

Akira winced slightly at the volume. "Hey, at least he isn't as bad as Zoro." He said while pointing at the green haired swordsman who was heading straight to the oiled slope while muttering, "North is up, right? So this way!"

"YOU IDIOT!" Nami and Usopp yelled again as the swordsman slipped down the oiled slope hitting the bottom and looking confused.

Akira sighed, partly tired but mostly amused. "Pinocchio-san. You have no time for our crew's antics no matter how amusing they are. I suggest you head to the north slope. Mikan-san, you head with him. I know you are not a skilled front-fighter, but you should hold them off for a while until Luffy, Zoro, and I get their." Akira said with a slightly serious look on his face. Without Luffy here, that means he was in command now--he was first-mate after all.

"But--" Nami protested, but was cut off by a gleam in Akira's eyes. "If you want encouragement Mikan-san, then I do remember what could have happened to our little boat. Oh and what about all the treasure in it? Didn't we leave it on the North side of the island where the pirates are heading? I wonder what they'll do when they discover it...?" Akira trailed off at the end with a wondering look.

Nami exploded with rage. "NO ONE TOUCHES MY TREASURE! C'MON USOPP!" She grabbed Usopp's shirt and then ran north in a very scary speed. Akira thought he saw fire coming from her feet.

"Huh...I guess she will do anything for gold...good to know." He didn't think her love will actually boost her physical abilities. He will have to make note of that in the future. He could use this. In a good way, and for the good of the crew, of course.

He turned away and faced Zoro who was still looking confused as he stared at the sea. "Wow....for a small island, they sure have a big lake." He said out-loud.

Akira face-palmed.

~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~

A/N: Forgive me for any grammer errors. I'm going to edit it someday. I was planning to go all the way and beat Kuro in this chapter so I can start on Sanji on the next chapter, but low and behold, I lost the energy to write. Honestly, I wish we had some kind of computer that would attatch to our brain and see what we're thinking to write the chapter on its own. While I like typing this is really tiring.

This chapter's total word count is about 2600, I prefer to go to 3000 and 1/3 of it is mainly authors note, so that is kind of sad...I'll try to do better next time.

I know I'm skipping a lot of scenes like Kuro speaking to Jango, or Usopp telling the villagers about Kuro, and others, but thats mostly because I really don't want to write about it. And to be honest, I don't think that its necessary for Akira to show up in those scenes.

And really, would you dear readers even care that much? If it were me, I would have skipped reading that part. (No offence to those who may have wrote those scenes).

Like I think I mentioned before, the Usopp arc isn't really my favourite. Actually, the only part of the East Blue arc which I really enjoyed was going to Baratie and LogueTown. Well, I'm almost there.

Comments and votes help. They are nice to read. Until the next chapter~

Neko1290

P.S. I should just warn you all now because I don't think I have yet. This is going to be an OP OC One piece fanfic. If you don't like an Over-powered OC then you don't read. I'm trying not to make Akira show off and instantly beat the opponents if that makes you feel any better. Rather, I'm focusing on Akira just doing what he wants. ENTERTAINMENT as they call it.

Its just that with a powerful OC, its much easier to write and cause chaos. Mwuhahahaha~

P.P.S. Check out my Shingeki no Kyojin AKA Attack on Titan fanfic! Its about a Male Oc who is reincarnated into the world of Attack on Titan. The classic but sound interesting, right?

Forgive me for my shameless advertising...
