I spoke one word
into my soul
It echoed deep
and long

There was no music
for its rhyme
no other stanza
for a song

Yet it was music
on its own
A lyric and
a rhythm strong

For a moment
the tone took wing
and overwhelmed
my every sense

No other term
did then exist
I settled in
to a world immense

I breathed the aura
of the dark
and filled it full
without intent

The stages
of the night became
the backdrop
of my dream

Which held that word
in its own repose
and whispered the truth
back to me

Endless oceans
above and below
Where I dare speak
Eternity
