At Your Feet
I fancied you a neighbor
and a fool in fields green
Yet a while longer
and the sheep became a queen
Once in fashions fading
you played a part rehearsed
where all inspired ladies
Grew in time to take their turns
But you were not just salt and light
You were also stone and thorn
You were not fearful of the night
A fire burned as you were shorn
I longed to be your one true friend
and draw the blade upon the cord
There to see it torn in shreds
and freedom is a great reward
But you denied any man
to have that honor or that glory
For on two feet you'd always stand
and break the chains in your story
Yet when you turned a moment back
You considered my faithful heart
and in me finding the little you lacked
allowed me play an important part
My liege my love my only life
I fall on knees to give my self
Let my strength be not strife
but in time enjoin your wealth
Direct the courses of this place
as we wage a war for peace
Allow me a smile on your face
and to sit at the table at your feet
