Chapter 2

I opened my eyes, scanning my surroundings. The early morning sun lit up the unfamiliar room I was in, the sound of quiet snoring coming from the spot next to me.

I looked over and realized I was still in bed with Jane, naked.

'Shit.' I thought as I pulled out my phone, the string of missed texts from my parents and Emma lining the screen.

I slowly made my way out of Janes bed and started getting dressed when I heard her start to stir.

"Good morning." She said in almost a whisper.

"Uh... I should get going." I said as I quickly finished putting my clothes on.

I turned to leave as she stood up, also completely naked. I felt my cheeks heat up at the sight of her naked figure.

She gave me a small smirk. "Thanks for the ride."

"N-no... uh... no problem." I replied as I quickly made my way out of her room.

I was almost to the door when she stopped me. "Look, I might have been a little drunk, but I meant what I did." She said, a small smile on her lips.

I cleared my throat. "It was, um... fun... but, I should really get going." I replied nervously as I turned back towards the door.

I was almost out when she spoke up from behind me.

"Well, can I at least see you again?" She asked.

I stopped dead in my tracks. 'She really wanted to see me again?'

My cheeks turned a deeper red. "Uh... I guess we'll see." I replied before making a beeline for Emma's car.

I got in the drivers seat and put my head on the steering wheel. 'What the hell is wrong with me?'

My phone rang out from my pocket, causing me to jump.

I answered it with a nervous hello.

"Hey, it's mom, where are you?" She asked.

"Uh... at Emma's, I'm leaving now." I said.

"Ok, sweetie, see you soon."

"Love you, mom."

"Love you to." She replied.

I hung up the phone and took one last glance at Janes house before starting the car and heading home...

I stuffed Emma's keys in my pocket before heading inside.

My moms, Marry and Vanessa, greeted me at the door.

Yes, they were lesbians to. Vanessa met Marry in Australia for a school field trip thing and they've been together ever since.

"How was graduation, sweetie?" Marry asked, her heavy Australian accent filling my ears.

"It was good." I said before walking over to my room.

"Heading off so soon?" Vanessa asked.

I turned around. "Sorry, mom, long night. I'll catch up with you guys later."

"Alright, go get some rest then, sweetie." Vanessa said.

I nodded and walked into my room, collapsing on my bed. I pulled my phone out and called Emma.

   'I hope she's awake.' I thought.

"Hello?" Came her groggy voice on the other end.

"We need to talk." I said.

"Ok, pick me up in an hour."

   "Where from?" I asked.

   "Uh... my house."

"Ok, see you then." I replied before hanging up.

I rolled over on my side and stared out the window, memories from last night seeping back into my mind.

I felt my whole body heat up just at the thought.

'No... she's married... you can't keep thinking like this. It was a one time thing.'

But, no matter how hard I tried to push her out of my mind, I just couldn't. She was stuck in there and refused to leave.

I sat up and put my head in my hands, rubbing my palms over my closed eyes.

'I just gotta distract myself. Easy enough.' I thought as I stood up and exited my room.

I poked my head around the corner, but my moms were no where to be found. I quickly snuck out of the house and hopped back into Emma's car.

I drove around for a while, wasting time while I awaited Emma's text.

Then, finally, after what seemed like hours, my phone beeped.

"Ready." The text from Emma read.

I pulled into her driveway shortly after and saw her waiting on the front porch. I got out and started to hand her the keys when she stopped me.

"Can you drive? I have a serious hangover." She said.

   "Sure thing." I replied.

We got in the car and headed off to our destination.

She turned to me from the passenger seat. "So, what'd you wanna talk about?"

'Where to even start?' I thought.

"Emma... you gotta promise to keep this between us."

She looked at me nervously. "Did you... did you kill someone?"

I rolled my eyes. "Jesus, Emma... no... I, uh... I slept with someone I shouldn't have..."

She was quiet for a second before throwing her arms up and cheering. "That's my girl!"

I slammed on the brakes and looked her dead in the eyes. "Emma... this is serious."

She slowly put her hands down and studied me, seeming to sense I wasn't kidding.

"What do you mean someone you shouldn't have..?" She asked.

I put my head on the steering wheel. "... She's married..."

Of course Emma knew I was lesbian, she was my best friend and she stuck by me the whole time. But, after this, I wasn't so sure.

   "Married..?" She asked.

I just nodded my head, tears starting to well up in my eyes.

She rubbed my back, attempting to comfort me. "Just... tell me everything."

I let out a sigh before launching into the story, telling her everything that happened after she left the bar.

"... a-and now... I'm a home wrecker." I said, more tears spilling down my cheeks.

She was quiet for a minute, seeming to take in all this information. "Not necessarily."

I looked over at her. "What?"

"You said it yourself, she told you she wasn't happy with him and she invited you in. To me, it sounds like you were just a victim of circumstance." She said.

I let out a sigh. "That's not all."

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I-I can't stop thinking about her... she's so beautiful and kind and... and..." I slammed my head on the steering wheel.

   "And what?" She asked.

"I don't know... any time I think about her my whole body heats up... it's a feeling I've never experienced before. I'm scared, Emma... I don't know what to do and you were the only one I could turn to." I said.

She rested her hand on my shoulder. "Hey, it's ok, we'll figure this out. Alright?"

I sighed and nodded before pulling her into a hug. "Thanks... I don't know what I'd do without you."

She chuckled lightly. "That's a scary thought."

I let out a small laugh of my own. "Whatever."

She smiled. "Wanna get some breakfast?"

I nodded and started the car again. "Where to?"

   "You know where." She said.

After a few minutes, we pulled into our favorite spot in town. Frankie's diner.

We walked in and took our usual seats in the back. A waitress came up to take our orders.

"Hi, I'm Lindsay, what can I get for you ladies this morning?" She asked.

I looked up and immediately froze. 'Wow, she's stunning.'

"Waffles for me, thanks." Emma said.

"Same." Was all I could say.

Lindsay gave me a small smile. "Alrighty, I'll be right back with your orders." She said before skipping away.

My eyes stayed glued to her as she skipped off.

"Hey." Emma said with a snap.

I turned to her, my cheeks reddening. "Sorry."

She chuckled. "No need to apologize..."

Her voice faded out, along with my surroundings. In came Jane, strutting through the front doors, a man and a girl about our age close behind.

"Blair? You still with me?" Emma asked.

"That's her..." I said.

Emma turned and looked, but I quickly pulled her back.

"Hey, she might see us." I said.

Emma whispered. "Sorry, she's cute though."

I rolled my eyes.

Just then, Lindsay came walking back over. "Here you go, ladies." She said, handing us our plates before sliding me a folded up napkin.

"That's on the house." She said with a wink before skipping away again.

I glanced at Emma before opening it. Inside was a little note that read: "Call me" with a little heart and her phone number.

I glanced up and realized Jane was staring right at me. I quickly crumpled the napkin and put it in my pocket.

Our eyes locked, a look of disappointment spreading across her features before she turned back to her family.

'Was she... jealous..?'
