[Character File] | Ronan Altius
Here is the second character file I've prepared, the main character OC for my Fate book, Ronan Altius!
Like the last one, here's a appearance guide:
Obviously, Ronan was introduced in my first Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works fanfic, The Glaive. In the prologue, in his memory, he was featured as a young eight year old, having a more streamlined straight black hair, a fair complexion for skin, and simple bright blue eyes that could be considered charming. But as he got older, his hair got to be a bit more spiky, with several bangs framing his face. Because of his work as a Kingsglaive, he would need to have a fairly lean build. Not super duper buff, but enough to show his fit and strong physique, with scars of slash marks, bite wounds, anything that showed he's been in a few scuffles and skirmishes due to his occupation. He's fairly tall, standing at around 6'0".
Now, for clothes. Ronan wears the standard issued male Kingsglaive uniform, which is shown below.
The standard male Kingsglaive uniform consists of the color black and adorning many silver-colored accessories. Coming with a black frock coat, black pants, fingerless gloves, and knee-high black combat boots, as well as the Kingsglaive symbol on their shoulders, which is the Draconian God, Bahamut, with seven swords on either side of him with Bahamut himself holding a sword that's facing down. Along with this uniform, they also have black hoods and a silver-ornate visor for face protection. However, in the Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV movie, the Glaive members also stylize their uniforms, so I went the same with Ronan this time around. So, Ronan adds silver pauldrons, a small black shoulder cape with a red interior, and silver horn-like ornaments that go around his neck. So, for references of these, you can search up the character designs of Luche Lazarus, who has the shoulder pauldrons, the horn-like silver ornaments of Nyx Ulric, but around his neck, and the female Kingsglaive uniforms, which have a cape but is instead entirely red.
However, whenever he's not wearing his battle attire, he dresses up in his more casual wear. His casual wear is usually a black leather jacket, wearing the Kingsglaive undershirt underneath it, grey cargo pants, and black boots. Later on in the story, depending if the chapters have been released or not, there is an alternate version of the Kingsglaive uniform for those that stay up in Galahd, which it looks like a trench coat version of the frock coat.
Looks something like this, but obviously the male version.
But, anyway, if you're looking for an appearance that could give you a good imagination of Ronan, it would be Zack Fair, specifically the version that takes place in Crisis Core.

Now, for his weapons and abilities.
As a Kingsglaive member, he borrows magic from the Lucian King to which he is contracted to, and of course, has to be compatible. Thanks to his bloodline, however, this secures his ability to make the pact.
One of the signature abilities of the Lucian Kings, especially Final Fantasy XV protagonist, Noctis Lucis Caelum, he is able to warp using the warp-strike ability. However, he doesn't use it like he does in the game because the warp-strike ability in the game was designed to lock-on to targets and deal damage. Ronan can use it as a way for traversal to travel in a quick burst of speed or use it in combat, obviously. The warp ability is done by throwing the desired weapon, where it travels through the air for a short moment before teleporting to it. He uses it in battle to strategically have it bounce off an object to reposition himself or can use it to attack, instantly slashing with it once he comes out of the warp. Unlike the game, he can actually miss. Below is an example of how the warp ability can be used.
However, the warp ability is far from the only spell he can use. Listed in the wiki, the Glaives have access to spells like:
-Fire
-Thunder
-Invisible
-Protect
-An unknown spell that allows them to traverse down vertical walls
Below are some pictures and or gifs that display some of the magic he's able to use.
In the order above, it is Protect, Invisible, and Lightning. Unfortunately, couldn't find much gifs or pictures of characters using the spell for Fire or the technique of running down walls.
In terms of weaponry, the Glaives tend to specialize in weapons that prioritize on speed, so making quick cuts and slashes and to increase mobility. In the multiplayer expansion, Final Fantasy XV: Comrades, the player takes control of a Glaive character they create, giving them access to many weapons like katanas, greatswords, spears, axes, and other weapons. But wanting to keep in line with mobility aspect, I had Ronan stick with the shorter weapons.
His main weapon of choice were weapons that belong to his family. More details on his family and background later on, but he wields two kukris belonging to his grandfather, that were passed down to his mother, and then to him. Both the blades handles are identical, the difference being that one blade is made from Insomnia with the other was made from Galahd. According to Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, the Insomnian blade has a serrated curve and has a hanging accessory of beads with two silver diamond-shaped tags that have the royal insignia of the Lucian royal family. The Galahdan blade has a serrated top with two fangs attached to a cord that hangs from the handle. The weapons are held in their respective leather holsters, resting on the back of his waist. These kukri blades were the original weapons of Nyx Ulric, the original protagonist of the FFXV movie. Picture below for appearance.
His other weapon is a short sword, but it's exactly that. A short sword. He also has a revolver, but it is just a basic revolver. In the in-game files, it is referred to as the Handgun, it's description reading, "A gun made for tackling moving objects. Allows the wielder to destroy appendages with greater ease." Though disregarding all the in-game stats, his revolver is simple. It fires six shots, not necessarily the worst weapon in his arsenal but certainly not the best. While he has made different elemental bullets, mainly fire and lightning, it is usually difficult for him as binding magic to such things isn't his specialty and therefore doesn't have much of them to use. Below is a picture of the Handgun, but again, it isn't anything special, really.
*Note* The text on the cylinder of the gun is the name of the person who posted it on their Instagram, Twitter, etc.
His next weapon that he obtained in the story was the Rapidus SMG.
According to the wiki, the Rapidus SMG is a rapid-fire submachine gun that's perfect for taking down enemies in tight spaces, dealing devastating damage. In the in-game stats, the gun can fire 100 rounds and deals 207 damage, but there is a damage penalty as you increase in distance when firing and the shots start to spread out after 10 have been fired, and spread out even more after 30. But it's special feature is that it's fire rate begins to ramp up the longer you hold down the fire button. In order to make it work with the story, I did keep things mostly the same, the magazine has a 100 rounds and kept the spread increasing from 10 to 30. However, I did make it so that the accuracy of the gun increases rather than it was in the original game. Appearance of the weapon is below.
*Note* Because he is connected to the king through his contract, Ronan is able to store his weapons into a personal space, like a small pocket dimension to keep his arms in

And now, time for a little bit of backstory, personality explanation, along with some trivia and fun facts, I suppose.
Ronan Altius is the son to Evelyn Altius, who is the daughter of Nyx Ulric and Crowe Altius. Having grown up in his hometown of Galahd for about five years, which was filled with greenery and sprawling mountains, Ronan had quite the survival and sort of hunter-like abilities growing up, sometimes going hunting into the mountains with his mother. It was also where he got to know of his close family friend, and basically uncle at this point, Libertus Ostium, a childhood friend of Nyx and Crowe.
Though, he would soon move to the Crown City to be closer to his father and so his mother could have easy access to her work, who was a Kingsglaive guard herself. Whilst his father was a Lucian baker that was often preoccupied with his work at his bakery and his mother never being around much due to her own occupation, Ronan would often find himself going to the Citadel often, to visit his mother whenever she was on guard duty there. It was there he had the many interactions of one of his best friends, Elaine Scientia, daughter to the Hand of the King, Ignis Scientia. As the years passed, his mother would end up going missing after a mission she was sent off toward to investigate a mysterious endeavor, he was met with the unfortunate possibility that she had passed, only receiving the kukri blades of his grandfather. During these years of despair, his father would eventually take his life, unable to bear the loss, leaving Ronan by himself for quite a bit. But of course, that didn't stop him from setting the personal mission of finding out what happened to his mother, training his body, himself, and his skills to join the Kingsglaive and eventually pick up the pieces his mother left off and continue hers, eventually leading himself to participate in the Fifth Fuyuki Holy Grail War.
*Note* During the recruit training for the Glaives, this is also when he met the other best friend of his trio group, Alexander Highwind, grandson to the famed mercenary, and former Commodore of the Empire, Aranea Highwind.
Personality wise, generally he's a calm, level-headed, and kind-hearted person. Overall, he's kind to his friends and family, and to generally new people he meets, offering them help if he finds them injured and what not. However, he knows when to get rough and aggressive, even to the point of threatening someone with violence, or even possibly, death. Of course, when he begins his work as a Glaive, he takes his orders very seriously, followed up with his stern and professional posture, acting like the typical loyal soldier. But, that doesn't mean he won't question certain orders if he doesn't see them as right or if they don't line up with his values, as he's the type of person that puts his family and friends first before the mission.
Often told by many of his peers that he can make a great leader and gives good orders, he sometimes has the tendency to overthink things, which makes him end up in the most undesirable positions possible. Especially when it comes to decisions that weigh things very heavily. Even when he comes up with plans, when they don't go as planned, he improvises on the fly which usually tend to go sideways, but more often then not, they surprisingly work. He's a prideful young man, but even he knows when to suck up his own pride and think of the greater differences and options when it comes to protecting the people and those he cares about.
Obviously, there are also his family relations.
Father - [Redacted]
Mother - Evelyn Altius
Wife/Servant - Scáthach
Children - [Unknown]
*Note* These character files will be updated in the future when the stories they are introduced in have updated details and other features. So, for example, in this one, the "unknown" part for Ronan will be updated in the future once his children will be revealed.
Now, for some Trivia/Fun Facts!
-Originally, this story was going to be a descent of Noctis instead of a typical Kingsglaive guard. However, it came to me that using royalty or any sort of noble type family is usually overused, as the typical trope of a Master in Fate books is a well-known mage family or some other bullshit reason.
-In the early stages of planning, I had Ronan originally be part Niflheim instead of part Lucien. I'd like to think there's still some animosity toward the Niflheim people when it came to Galahdans and Lucians, and I would have thought the character dynamics between his two friends would be a different, but interesting interaction between them.
-Originally, Ardyn Lucis Caelum/Ardyn Izunia was not to make an appearance in this story, therefore, making Evelyn Altius the only appearance of an antagonist. However, Ardyn was added back in during the development and planning as I wanted to bring Noctis into the story somehow.
-Because Galahd is most likely similar to the island countries of Europe, so Ireland, Malta, Cyprus, etc., I had wanted to give a name that originated from there. Before I settled on Ronan, there were quite a different number of names I had considered Caelin, Cormac, and many others.
-One of the enemy Servants in this book, Tsuki, wasn't planned to make an appearance. However, through many discussions between a friend and I, she made her debut here. In fact, if you have noticed, Tsuki has taken a liking to Ronan, so, perhaps in a different timeline, the story may have turned out differently. Tsuki also belongs to Abyssal_Herrscher.
-When developing Ronan's character, I kind of wanted him to have a Roy Mustang-type personality, even considering at one point to have the Flame Alchemist himself as the appearance for the character.
-Ronan doesn't use Invisible or the spell to run down vertical walls much because they consume a lot of MP points. Also, I had forgotten those spells existed, so, lmao?
