Raven was in a state of confusion. And pain. Mainly pain.
But how the heck had Izzy gotten involved in this whole fiasco?!
She supposed that solved the issue, but Izzy was the absolute last person she was expecting.
His hand was warm though, as were his words.
"I'm here, baby. It's gonna be okay." Her belly was full of butterflies. And pain. Mostly pain.
"Urrraghhhhh!" She groaned, panting.
"Okay, push!" The midwife prompted. Raven pushed with all her might.
The door opened, and in rushed Axl and Erin, holding a little baby wrapped up in a blue blanket, Renan, Duff, Steven (suprisingly), and Slash. And in came Gilby almost immediately afterwards. Izzy glared daggers at Slash and Gilby. Wow. Okay, so Izzy was being protective.
Raven felt an unfamiliar sense of romantic adoration towards Izzy. It was so weird, but nice, too.
Raven was in labour for a total of nine and a half hours, and Izzy was there every step of the way. Raven didn't think she would ever be laying in a hospital bed holding Izzy's hand.
This was so new.
But she couldn't get enough of it.
Her little baby girl came out at 8.7 pounds, and everyone left the room to give Izzy, Raven and the baby some breathing space.
"She's so beautiful, Raven." Izzy smiled more broadly then she had ever seen him smile before. Raven was so happy- and sore -but mostly happy.
Izzy was holding the newborn, gazing down at her in joy.
"What will we name her?" Smiled Raven.
"Me?" Izzy looked suprised, "oh no, it's all up to you." He quickly passed her back the baby.
"No really, Izz. Help me name her. And I want you to sign the birth certificate." Raven said, completely seriously. Izzy had happy tears, and a big smile.
"Really?"
"Yeah." She smiled back. Izzy turned around to the nearby bedside table, and signed his name on the birth certificate. Then he turned to her, pen poised.
"What do we name her?" He asked her,
"Erm..." she thought for a moment. "Ada?"
Izzy cocked his head to the side,
"How about Xandra?..." "or Belle?" He suggested. Raven smiled.
"I like Xandra." She gazed down at her new daughter.
"So is that her name then?"
"Yeah." She decided, smiling. Izzy wrote this.
"Middle name?" He questioned,
"Belle."
"That was one of my suggestions, though. We should do one of yours." He replied.
"Yeah but Xandra Ada doesn't sound as good as Xandra Belle." Raven retorted.
"Alright." He nodded, and scribbled down her middle name."and... Cassel." He spoke, about to write.
"Wait!" She exclaimed,
"Huh?" Izzy looked back up at her.
"No. Stradlin."
"No, Raven. Xandra should be a Cassel, just like her brother." He said, and then he wrote it down before she could argue. Oh well, though. She didn't mind so much. But Izzy was signed on as the father. She was feeling particularly close to him that day, and she had a feeling that it would be this way between them for a long time in the future, too.
