Encounters

Gilby pushed her against the wall, pressing his chest against hers. His breath fanned her face, bringing with it the scent of mint. There was hunger in his aqua eyes. He wanted her.
"Gilby-" she gasped,
"Shh." He shook his head, "I know you don't want me, but just let me stay here for a moment."
"No. Gilby- don't stop." It was barely a whisper, and she clenched her jaw straight afterwards to stop herself from changing her mind. He must have heard, because suprise crossed his features. Gilby stared into her eyes, blinking almost hungrily.
He leaned forward, his lips closed in on hers. Raven's world disappeared into a heart pounding, heated, passionate kiss. There was a heat in her loins, growing and growing until it became unbearable.
"Oh- Gilby. Don't stop!" She gasped between kisses. His hands wandered her body, driving her crazy with lust. Gilby grabbed her wrist and led her towards a nearby hotel.

The next morning...
Raven opened her eyes, and for a split second she had no idea where she was, until she recognized Gilby's hotel room. He had hired it so that he could sleep on this side of L.A. after band practise because he hadn't yet found a house in the area, and his present home was much too far away. Raven turned over. The other side of the bed was empty, sheets disheveled. Gilby was gone. She frowned a little, staring at the spot where he layed only hours before. Last night they had... yeah. Oh god- she couldn't be pregnant?
No. No he pulled out.
Okay, so now she just needed to get up and go home and pretend it never happened. It was such a huge mistake. She really shouldn't have done it. But when she thought back to the way he was acting beforehand, and how it felt, she knew that given the chance she would do it again.
Slowly she rose from the bed, collected her clothing and made her way out the door.
Gilby had captured her spirit- her imagination. Just thinking about him brought on memories of the night before, and a rosy glow came to her cheeks.

Two weeks later...
Raven was sitting at the kitchen table. It had now been a month since the fire, and they were in the process of refurbishing the kitchen. The house was structurally sound, so thankfully there didn't need to be any work on that. Renan was in his highchair eating apple slices, his head of bouncy hair mussed from sleep. Raven glanced up at her son from the kitchen table to see him happily munching away. She felt the urge to pee suddenly.
"Mommy will be right back, okay?" She spoke. Her son nodded, picking up another slice of apple. She stood and made her way through the loungeroom and up the stairs. As she was on the toilet, it occured to her that her period was a week late. Fear gripped her heart as the possibility of pregnancy crossed her mind, but she dismissed it. There was no way she was pregnant. Her period was just late. Yes. Perhaps because of stress.
She finished on the toilet and made her way back down the stairs. She didn't think about it again until

One month later...
Bent over the toilet bowl, Raven heaved and sprayed even more spew into the bowl.
"Mommy?" Renan's small voice called from the doorway. She dabbed her mouth with toilet paper and stood up, pressing the flush button.
"Yes?" She answered, turning to look at him.
"You okay?" He looked genuinely concerned.
"Yeah buddy, I'm alright. Why don't you go and play with your cars?" She suggested. He frowned.
"Are you sick?" The child was persistent, she could give him that.
"No, I'm okay." She said,
"Why- you vomid-- den?" Renan questioned.
"Erm..." that was a very good question. "I dunno baby, but mommy's gonna find out." She nodded. Renan blinked up at her. "I- go gedd- my coat." He sighed exasperatedly. Raven chuckled at him. He could be such a character. Soon, they were bundled up in the car and on their way to the doctor's, and it wasn't too long until she was seated before a doctor in a tie and black dress pants. He scribbled something on a piece of paper and put it aside. Renan was on Raven's knee, behaving for once.
"Okay." The doctor put the paperwork aside and turned to her. "How can I help?" He asked.
"Well... I've been sick for about a fortnight, and my period is three weeks late." She nodded.
"Have you- uh- been sexually active?" The doctor asked. Raven blushed and met his eye before casting her gaze to the floor.
"Yes then." He muttered, and then he moved to a cupboard and began to rummage inside. He turned around with a little silver packet in his hand.
"I will get you to do a pregnancy test, just to be sure." He told her. "The little boy can wait here if it's easier." He added. Raven got up, placing Renan down on his feet and reaching out for the packet inside of which she knew there was the little white stick that would determine whether or not she was pregnant.
"Okay. Stay here, I'll be right back." She said to Renan. Nerves ate at her stomach as she made her way to the bathroom down the hall. She sat on the toilet and peed on the white stick, and then set it aside. She waited around for a few minutes, fidgeting and shuffling her feet. She paced back and forth.
After what felt like an eternity, she gathered her courage and reached forward. The pregnancy test read--

Positive.

She was pregnant. Gilby had gotten her pregnant. What would she say? What would she tell the band?!
What would she tell Slash?
Slowly, she shuffled her way out the door and down the hallway.
The doctor looked up as she opened the door, and she dropped the test on his desk defeatedly. He glanced down, and then a little smile graced his features.
"Congratulations." He said.
"Thanks." Her stony expression was enough to make it obvious to him that she wasn't happy about it.
"How long has it been since you had intercourse?" He questioned,
"Month and a half." She muttered.
"And before that?"
"Three years, almost." She replied. He looked a little surprised.
"So you are a month pregnant. Four weeks?" He half stated, half questioned.
"Uhh... yeah." The sperm needed time to get up to the egg, so it would be about four weeks.
"Excellent. And you are definitely keeping it, yes?"
"Oh yes. I don't like abortion." She let him know. The doctor nodded his head and grabbed a piece of paper, scribbling a few details down. "Okay, I'll want you back in here in about..." there was a pause, "four weeks. Okay?"
"But- he pulled out!-" Raven exclaimed, still in disbelief.
"Doesn't always work." He smiled sadly. Raven nodded, grabbed her little son's hand and led the way out to the reception counter.
