Chapter One - Welcome to the real world
So I'm going to start up chapter questions again.
Chapter question: What is something you're currently excited for?
I'm actually super excited for a few things. One is that I'm super excited to write this. Another is my school play. I'm one of the few people who has to show up to basically every single rehearsal (there's only one I didn't and it's already past that) and it's super fun. Another thing is: I'M GOING TO MEET MY FAVORITE YOUTUBER *crying sounds*... For a while now my mom has been begging me to go out and do something with her and when JoshuaDTV announced his tour and I saw one of his shows was around my area (by around my area I mean like two hours away) and I asked my mom and she was all like "maybe" but secretly ordered tickets while I was at school like two weeks ago. The show is during one of my dress rehearsals for the play so I told my drama teacher I had some family issue thing on that day and I'd miss it (#mymomtoldmetolie) and she said fine as long as I went to every other rehearsal. So, yeah, super excited to go meet my fav YouTuber since he has a meet & greet after the show that's free.

"You can't be serious," Sophie said, opening the door to their apartment-dorm-thing.
Biana grinned, standing up from the couch. "Welcome home," she chanted, along with everyone else in the room.
In the room was all of Keefe's friends and Sophie's two friends. For some reason, Marella and Dex were also there. Sophie looked at them confused while dragging in her suitcase. Keefe came in behind her, holding all of the bags and his own suitcase. "Aw, hey guys," he greeted, hugging Biana.
"Why did you throw a party?" Sophie asked. "I told you only three people here at a time, including you, when we aren't home."
"Oh hush and be happy." Sophie scowled. "You got married and we're celebrating. It's not an everyday thing."
"Biana," Keefe said, putting everything down next to the kitchen counter, "I don't know what you're on but people get married everyday. It is an everyday thing."
She rolled her eyes. "I meant as in our group. Name one other couple in our friend group that's married."
"Amy and her boyfriend, Cameron," Sophie answered.
"We don't even talk to Amy anymore," Biana said, waving it off.
"She's my little sister," Sophie said. "I talk to her everyday." She frowned, thinking. "And didn't you video chat her just yesterday?" Her mind went to the conversation she had with Amy the day before. Amy was eighteen, only one year younger, and had gotten married to her boyfriend straight out of high school. People spoke up a lot about it but she didn't really care.
"That's besides the point," Biana said, before her face fell. "What is the point?"
"Will you guys be quiet and just join the party?" Fitz cut in, speaking up from his place on the couch right next to Ashla.
She scowled at him. "You can't just tell them to shut up. It's their house and they're allowed to fight if they want to fight."
He rolled his eyes and took a sip of his drink before seeming to remember something. "Oh, guys, I almost forgot! Tam and Linh are flying in to see us." His face brightened immediately. Linh was his on and off girlfriend who he had been dating since freshman year, before Keefe and Sophie started dating when they were sophomores. Tam was Linh's twin brother, who had been Biana's boyfriend before dumping her for someone else in the college he decided to go to and Linh followed him to.
Biana looked at him in alarm. "You invited Tam?" She questioned, her eyes wide with fury. "Please tell me you're joking."
"I didn't invite them. They found out about Sophie and Keefe and wanted to congratulate. Tam wasn't going to come but then Linh convinced him to."
"Tell her to unconvince him."
"I'm not going to tell her that," Fitz said, rolling his eyes. "You'll be fine, Biana. Stop making this some soap opera."
"Uh, Fitz, I'm kind of with Biana on this one," Keefe spoke up. "That's not the way to go. I mean, she's your sister. Even you should care about this."
Dex walked up and tapped Sophie on the arm while everyone wasn't paying attention and pulled her to the side. "What happened to Tam and Biana. I remember being in school with you guys and seeing them but when you guys all came here she just never said anything about him again."
Sophie looked at Biana in the corner of her eye and sighed before turning back to Dex, who was staring curiously. "It's not really a huge thing. Basically when they found out they were going to different colleges they started to get into these small fights and then he decided to leave a week earlier than he was supposed to. After he left he just basically told her that he found someone else and that was it. She says she's over it and that she likes someone else now but since she won't tell us who I'm pretty sure it's just a cover for how hurt she is." Sophie looked at Biana. "I don't know if you guys talk a lot or not but I know you two are friends so please don't tell her anything I said."
Dex gave her a wimpy salute. "Scouts honor," he said lowly before walking over to Marella.
Sophie turned back to her group of friends and stood next to Keefe and tried to figure out what their conversation was now about. "Why would you pick red, though? Obviously black is the right way to go," Keefe said to Fitz.
"Are you guys talking about hair dye?" Sophie asked, confused.
Keefe shook his head. "No. We're talking about checkers." She rolled her eyes making him frown. "No, seriously, we're talking about checkers and picking which player to play. Where have you been for the past two minutes?"
"I was talking to Dex," she explained, pointing to the corner where Dex was eating from a vegetable tray, Marella standing next to him with her arms crossed begging to leave.
Keefe nodded before turning to Fitz. "How did they get invited, anyways?"
"Linh is friends with Marella," Biana explained. "The only way to reach Marella is through Stina or Dex and there was no way I was going to invite two of them here. I decided Dex was the better way to go. He's more casual and understands our ways of life."
"Our ways of life?" Sophie repeated as a question.
"You'd understand if you'd live it, nerd," Keefe teased.
Sophie gave him a half smile. "I really want to know now," she said.
"She means our way of not really caring about grades or people we don't know or anything like that. Our way of life is not caring. You're not like that so you don't understand," Fitz explained. He looked at Ashla, who had been silent the whole time. "You might understand it."
She went to reply when a knock sounded on the door, and Sophie went to answer it. "Sophie!" Tam greeted, giving her a hug.
Sophie grinned, hugging him back before giving Linh a small hug as well. "Hey guys," she greeted, smiling.
"Congrats on the wedding," Linh cheered, smiling happily before moving her eyes to behind Sophie. "Hey guys," Linh greeted the group. They all gave small waves before Marella ran up to her.
"Finally, you're here. You're the only reason I'm here," Marella greeted, giving Linh a large hug while Tam followed Sophie out of the doorway.
"Welcome to our apartment-dorm-thing," Sophie told him, walking up to the group.
He smiled at everyone, except Biana who he was obviously trying not to look at. "Thanks for the invite, Fitz," Tam said, nodding.
Fitz nodded back before giving Biana a small look. "It was no problem. Do you think Marella is going to let your sister in here?"
Tam looked towards the doorway before looking back at Fitz and shrugged. "I honestly have no idea."
Sophie let out a small squeal. "Oh, I almost forgot something. But the guys can't know. Biana and Ashla come with me," she said, grinning. "Oh, Jensi you already know so you might as well come along."
The two girls jumped out of their places and followed Sophie out of the room and to Sophie and Keefe's room. Jensi trailed after them awkwardly and confused. "What are you going to tell us?" Ashla asked.
"Yeah, what are you going to tell them?" Jensi added along, his eyes holding confusion.
Sophie sighed. She looked at Biana and said, "You're obviously hurt since Tam is here and he won't even look you in the eyes." She turned to Ashla. "You like Fitz and it's hurting you seeing him so happy that Linh, the supposed love of his life, is here." She shrugged. "Figured I'd get you guys out of it."
"What about me?" Jensi asked.
"You don't really fit in well with Keefe and Fitz and, hell, even Biana. I figured I'd save you the trouble of having to stand there awkwardly along with them. You're in my friend group with Ashla, not Keefe's friend group with Fitz."
He nodded. "Okay," he said, shrugging simply before sitting down on the bed. "So, we can't just stay in here forever."
Sophie chuckled. "Idiot. We're not staying in here forever." She paused. "Just until Tam and Linh leave."
"Come on, Sophie. This must kill you. You love Tam and Linh. You and Linh used to be on the honors society together. When you were split up and had no friends in your classes you had that class with Tam and he would pass notes with you all the time," Ashla reminded. "You can just leave us here and you go greet them. We'll be fine on our own. Bring us food when you come back, though."
Biana rolled her eyes. "This is ridiculous," she said. "How am I going to get through life if I can't handle being in the same room as my ex? And you," she looked at Ashla, "need to stop worrying. Everyone knows that you like my brother and he likes you back. You know what? Linh leaves. Whenever their relationship ends, it's because she leaves. She's going to leave him again. You'll still be here though. You need to assure him you're not going to leave and you need to put your big girl panties on, the really ugly granny ones, and tell him you like him." She then let out a large huff and left the room.
"So, uh, does that speech include me having to go back because I've gotta say, I'm kind of loving this anti-social thing I've got going for me," Jensi finally said after a moment of silence.
Sophie waved a hand at him and peered out the door to see Biana in the conversation the boys had going on, and seeing that Linh was now with the group, Dex and Marella gone. "Keefe," Sophie called. Everyone turned to look at them and Keefe said something quickly before walking over. "On a scale from not at all to definitely, how possible is it that Fitz and Linh are getting back together?"
Keefe looked at the group before looking back at her. "There's subtle hints being made that she has a new boyfriend back home and Fitz is making subtle comments about him liking someone else but at the same time they're kind of flirting with each other and it's really confusing, even for me, so I'd say meh."
Sophie grinned and turned to Ashla. "You have meh chance!"
Keefe's eyes widened and he looked at Ashla. "Seriously, now? Now is when you want to speak up about having a relationship? Are you kidding me?" He shook his head. "Wait until Linh is gone to speak up. No one gets in the middle of Linh's relationships without getting killed," he said, shuddering a little.
"What do you mean?" Jensi asked, frowning.
"Willow Stikes, ninth grade," Sophie said with a low hum. "She wrote Willow Vacker on every single binder and notebook and in her diary as well. She went crazy and got super close to actually dating him, little did she know that Linh was there, waiting in the shadows to attack. And being that Fitz is a total jerk majority of the time and Linh was and probably still is a total psycho, her attack worked and Willow was embarrassed for the rest of her high school career. We don't talk about what Linh actually did, though, as to avoid any conflict. We don't want it to happen to us." Sophie shuddered slightly.
"Imagine that entire speech had dramatic music behind it and that shudder will make more sense," Keefe added.
Ashla rolled her eyes. "I wasn't going to just go out there and announce it, guys. Besides, Willow was the only one."
"Kiana Betchard, junior year," Sophie announced. "Fitz asked her to the junior prom, but he ended up going with Linh."
Ashla's eyes widened. "Wait, but. . . Oh, poor Kiana. Man, I never realized how truly boy crazy Linh is."
"Not boy crazy," Sophie corrected. "Fitz crazy." She shrugged. "I don't understand the hole fighting over Fitz thing."
"Says the one who helped Harriot cheat on a test in that AP English class you took but you gave her all the wrong answers just because she gave Keefe her number."
Keefe started to laugh. "Holy crap, you did that!"
Sophie blushed. "Jensi, that was top secret information."
Keefe wrapped his arm around Sophie's shoulder. "Aw, that's sweet. But what if you had accidentally given her the right answers?"
Sophie shook her head. "I knew all the right ones. It was an easy test."
"What do you mean? I was in that class with you and that was the hardest test of the year. Worse than the final." Ashla narrowed her eyes. "But you got a 100. Just like every other test, and it was an AP class!"
Sophie bit her lip. "I have a photographic memory," she explained.
"I have a photographic memory, too. One of the many reasons I got through high school. That doesn't mean I got a 100 on every single test I took. If that was the case I would've been put in AP classes," Keefe said.
Sophie frowned. "There might be the chance I'm a legal genius," she admitted.
"Wait, what? I'm your husband and I didn't even know this?" Keefe's eyes widened. "What else was I not told?"
"I think that's it," she said, looking in thought. "I've told you about the drunk hooker story, right?"
"What?"
"Never mind. Let's get back to our party."
