Chapter VI: A Heaven and A Hell

"So..."

"Yeah."

"Well, how's it going, I guess?"

"Not bad, you?"

"You do realize everyone is listening to what we're saying through the door, right?"

At that, Aquarius punched the door, causing a few muffled screams to be heard from the other side. She turned back to face Cancer as if nothing had happened.

He cleared his throat. "So do you know why Gemini dared us to do this? Like he didn't give me an option and, honestly, I was going to say truth-"

"Cancer?" Aquarius asked.

"Yeah?"

"Promise you won't laugh if I tell you why?"

"Of course not."

Aries, bored out of his mind, laid himself down on the carpet. "What do you think they're talking about?"

"I dunno." Pisces was the only one who seemed to have heard him.

"Ugh this is taking forever. How long has it been?" Leo asked.

Gemini looked at the timer on his phone. "It's only been a minute and a half."

A series of groans broke out in response.

"So, um, the reason why Gemini did this, is because, well, he kind of knows that I might have a little, uh...crush on you."

"What?!! You like me?!!" Cancer asked, surprised and in mild alarm.

"Shush, someone might hear you! And, yeah I do."

All was quiet for a minute.

"So, um...what do you think?" Aquarius asked.

"What do you mean what do I think?"

"I mean, do you like me?!" Aquarius replied with some fear in her voice.

Silence.

"Cancer?"

Cancer sighed. "Aquarius, obviously I like you-"

"You do?!" Aquarius was filled with hope.

"-just...just not in the way you want me to."

Aquarius's heart broke in a million places. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, I really enjoy spending time with you. Like, we're always going off on our little adventures and I wouldn't trade that for the world, but-"

It was quiet.

"But what?" Aquarius asked, daring to speak.

"But...I just don't have feelings for you in that way. And don't get me wrong, I'm very flattered, it's just...I'm not...I'm just not over Virgo," Cancer finished, feeling a huge weight lifted off of his chest.

Aquarius was glad the room was dark. She wiped the few tears that escaped her eyes before speaking. "Well, you should probably tell her that."

"You think?" Cancer was surprised by her response.

"Yeah, I mean, I may want to be with you, but I also want you to be happy. I'm not going to let my happiness get in the way of yours. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did that." Aquarius smiled as some new tears broke free.

Goddamnit, Aquarius. You're stronger than this, she thought to herself.

Aquarius suddenly felt two large arms wrap around her. "Thanks, Aqua."

She hugged Cancer back. "You don't have to thank me for anything, it's your life," she laughed. Aquarius pulled away from him. "I'm gonna go now. Gemini can shove the remaining time up his ass."

"Okay," Cancer laughed.

Aquarius opened the door, the light blinding her for a few moments, and she rubbed her eyes so that they could adjust more quickly.

Everyone turned from where they were sitting to see her standing there. To most, she just looked normal, eyes slightly red, but they thought nothing of it.

To Gemini, however, it looked like he was in deep shit.

"Hey guys, it's been fun, but I think I'm gonna go. I don't feel so well." Aquarius walked to pick up her stuff.

"Is that why you left the closet early?" Capricorn asked her, completely oblivious.

"Yep," she replied, opening the front door. "Bye everyone!"

"Bye, Aqua!" They all said as she walked out.

When she was gone, Gemini yelled, "Fuck!!"

"Gemini!" Libra scolded.

"What's wrong?" Sagittarius asked.

Gemini sighed. "I fucked up." He looked at Cancer, who gave him an apologetic face, understanding exactly what he was talking about. The others, however, were very much confused.

"What did you do this time?" Scorpio seemed amused.

Gemini turned to Cancer again. "Let me guess, you said no."

"Well, what was I supposed to do, Gemini?! You put us on the spot!"

"Yes, but I thought that you liked her back!!"

Everyone fell silent. Then, the room erupted into utter chaos. Zodiac yelled at zodiac, everyone shared their opinion, and to the few who had little details, it all suddenly started to make sense. Through the noise of the remaining eleven in the room, Gemini found Aries.

"Dude, would you mind going after Aquarius to see if she's okay?!" he yelled, as it was nearly impossible to hear one another in the room. "She definitely doesn't want to see me right now!"

Aries groaned. "Why me?! It's finally just starting to get interesting here!"

"Because she dared you to do everything she says, so it's only fitting!" Gemini used as a lame excuse. In reality, he knew that Aqua would only be willing to see Sagittarius at the moment, but he'd have to drag her away kicking and screaming from the house, so Aries was the next best option.

"Ugh, fine!!" Aries groaned again, walking to the door and slamming it on his way out.

Virgo dipped out behind him, hoping that no one saw her. She wasn't in the mood for the drama.

Gemini turned back to the group to see the zodiacs still yelling amongst themselves. He saw Pisces wanting to say something, but at the same time, not be able to get anyone's attention.

"Um...guys," she spoke. "Can we maybe quiet down? I'd like to know the full story." No one seemed to hear her except Libra and Gemini himself.

"Uh, guys?"

"EVERYONE SHUT UP!"

All the zodiacs turned to look at Libra, surprised, as she was not one to yell. She then cleared her throat and spoke much more softly. "Pisces has something to say."

All of the zodiacs turned their heads in one coordinated motion towards the direction that Pisces was standing in. Her cheeks tinted pink before speaking. "Do you think that we could let Cancer tell us what's going on? I get most of it, but I'm still a little lost." Understanding what she was saying, they all turned towards Cancer.

Cancer looked very uncomfortable as he retold the events that occurred in the closet, making sure not to give to much away. "Well, you see, this whole thing was just a big misunderstanding." He let out an awkward laugh. "Gemini had this presupposed notion that Aquarius and I 'liked each other' or something," he used air quotes to demonstrate his point, "and that wasn't exactly the case. In the end, the whole thing made Aqua very uncomfortable, so she went home."

All of a sudden, from the back of the crowd, Sagittarius pushed and shoved her way into the front until her face was right up to Cancer's. Her eyebrows were set in a manner that made her look as if she could tear out someone's heart with her bare fist. "I swear to God, if you hurt her in any way, I will rip off your ears and staple them to your neck," she whispered, making her seem even more menacing. Then, putting on a more pleasant face, she turned back to the rest of the zodiacs. "Okay everyone, I think we've had enough excitement for one day. Party's over, go home."

Aquarius walked across the midnight black pavement of the road, kicking a stone pebble along the way and attempting to dry her remaining tears. In the distance, she could hear the stomping of feet against the asphalt. The footsteps slowed down as they got closer and closer.

Aqua whipped her head in the direction of the intruder to her private, self-pitting bubble. She couldn't see who it was past the light of the street lamp, but she took an educated guess. "Go away, Gemini! I don't want to talk to you right now."

The figure stepped into the circle of light under the post. The person had a hazmat of light brownish-reddish hair and bright, green eyes. "Well, I guess it's a good thing I'm not Gemini then." Aries smiled a toothy grin.

Aquarius turned around and continued walking, annoyed. "Don't you have anything better to do?" She called over her shoulder. "Why don't you go burn down a shed, or something?" She wasn't upset with him, however, she really wanted to be left alone.

"Yikes, someone's not chipper tonight," Aries replied. He jogged up to Aqua until he was walking along side her. "Side effect of getting caught in the friend zone, I guess?"

Aquarius let out a low growl. "The Friend Zone™ is a social ideology made up by mysoginistic men who feel they are entitled to have sex with women just because they are quote-on-quote 'nice', and that if women say no to them, it is somehow female privilege-"

"Okay, okay, I get it," Aries sighed. "Mysoginy, patriarchy, feminism. You don't need to go on a rant about it."

"Don't tell me what to do," Aquarius muttered under her breath.

Aries looked confused. "What was that?"

"Nothing."

Taurus flopped down on his bed, looking up at the ceiling. The night's events had his mind racing about multiple things, but one thought alone was pestering him to no end.

The letter.

He was so nervous that he would not have feelings for whomever wrote it, and that he would have to reject them like Cancer did to Aquarius. Taurus also secretly hoped that one zodiac in particular was the mysterious author...

Meanwhile, Virgo too laid awake in bed. She was so confused as to what was going on. Even though she knew all the details, they just didn't make sense to her.

Aquarius likes Cancer.

Cancer doesn't like Aquarius.

I broke up with Cancer because I thought he liked her.

But Cancer doesn't like Aquarius.

Virgo hit herself in the head. Oh no, Virgo, what have we done?

Aries let out the puff of air that he didn't realize he was holding in. "So...you want to talk about it?"

Aquarius snorted. "Not really."

"Well what do you want to do?"

Aqua stroked her imaginary beard as she pondered. "I guess I kind of just want to watch some of my favorite movies. Maybe not sleep for the night."

"Okay," Aries replied, not knowing what else to say. "Well, I guess I'm just gonna go then-"

Aqua stopped him before he was able to go. "Have you ever seen 10 Things I Hate About You?"

"Gross, isn't that a chick flick?" Aries put on a disgusted front.

Aqua rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, allow yourself to enjoy a good movie for once that doesn't have violence in it."

Aries reluctantly agreed, not because he wanted to watch the movie, but because he knew that Aquarius secretly didn't want to be alone.

Soon, they arrived at Aqua's house and Aries plopped himself down on the couch as Aquarius made popcorn. When she finished, she turned on the tv and put on the movie through Netflix.

Two hours later, the film was over and Aries decided to replay the last scene somewhere between five and ten times.

"This was such a good movie," he gushed. "Like, love is bullshit and all that, but this was so good. Aqua?"

He looked to his right to find her passed out and fast asleep on the couch. Taking that as his cue to leave, Aries grabbed his wallet and phone and left.

A/N: HEY GUYS IM BACK. SORRY THIS CHAPTER WAS SO AQUARIUS-HEAVY. THERE WILL BE LESS OF HER IN AT LEAST THE NEXT TWO I BELIEVE. YEP, YEP.

P.S. I NOW HAVE 69 FOLLOWERS (hehehe)
QUESTIONS:

What will happen to Gemini's and Aquarius's friendship?

How will Virgo resolve what has been done?

Will Sagittarius murder Cancer? (TBH, probably)

'Til next time,
