Chapter III: A Musical and a Matchmaker
Warning: major drama ahead. Prepare for cringe.
Ding dong, ding dong, ding, ding, ding dong.
Libra's doorbell rang frantically as she sat on the couch, debating whether to just ignore whomever was ringing it, or answer the door. She reluctantly decided on the latter, and paused the tv show she was watching, making her way to the mahogany door at the front of her house.
Taurus stood outside on Libra's porch, holding a piece of paper in his hand. It had been folded over in multiple spots, creating many creases from all the times he had read it. Even as he was standing there, he made a new crease out of nervousness on the corner of the paper. He heard the door creak open and looked up. Libra was standing there with a slightly confused look on her face, as she probably wasn't expecting company. Taurus opened his mouth to say something, but his words betrayed him and he quickly shut it.
"Why don't you come on in, Taurus?" Libra said, guessing that what he had to say was obviously important. The boy stepped over the threshold and into the Victorian-style house. To his left sat the living room, where there was a fireplace, couch, and flat-screen tv mounted on the wall. To his left was the kitchen, complete with an island countertop. In front of him stood the staircase that most likely led to the second-floor bedrooms, and behind that was the dining room. Libra's house wasn't huge, but it definitely didn't fail at creating a warm, comfy atmosphere. Taurus followed the brown-haired girl in as she gestured him into the kitchen. He sat at one of the tall chairs by the island as Libra poured both of them a glass of water.
"What's on your mind, Taurus?" she asked with her back to him, as she filled up the glasses in the sink.
"Well I came here for advice more than anything else-" he began.
"Well then you came to the right place," she turned around and smiled at him, handing him his water as well as taking a sip of hers.
"-and I honestly have no idea where to start." He placed the paper on the countertop and pushed it her in her direction, a subtle way of telling her to read it. She unfolded the paper to see a note in beautiful, cursive handwriting:
Dear Taurus,
Recently, whenever I see you in the halls, by your locker, or after school, my heart pitter-patters in my chest and butterflies swarm in my tummy. We are in the same group of friends, so I don't want to make things awkward, but I don't know how much longer I can wait. I'm not sure how these feelings developed; all I know is that I think you might be the one. Meet me by the willow tree in the park across from the school next Friday at four o'clock sharp if you want to learn my identity.
Signed,
Your Secret Admirer
About half way into reading the note, Libra choked on her water, prompting Taurus to frantically pat her back until she gained her composure. After that episode was over, she turned to face him and smiled from ear to ear, her brown eyes twinkling. Taurus wasn't sure whether he thought that look was enduring or just plain creepy.
"I know exactly how to help you."
Meanwhile, Leo and Pisces were at their musical rehearsal. This year, the high school was doing a rendition of Beauty and the Beast. Leo was a shoe-in for Gaston, however, he insisted on playing the Beast. He was the star of the musical program, so naturally, he got what he wanted. Pisces just barely made the role of Belle, beating out two other girls whom were also good for the part. If Pisces were being honest with herself, half of her energy during rehearsals went to working, while the other half was resisting the urge to punch Leo in the face. It's wasn't like she hated him or anything; after all, they were in the same group of friends. The problem was that, during musical season, he was always so demanding. And Pisces, not trying to impose herself on anyone, was the exact opposite.
As Pisces sat patiently backstage, waiting for the break to finish and for practice to resume, she heard what sounded like faint crying coming from the dressing rooms. Curiosity overtook her, as it usually tends to win in a battle with logic, and Pisces proceeded to gently open the dressing room door. There, on the other side, was the girl that played Mrs. Potts, whom was also one of the girls that she beat for the part of Belle. She sat by the costumes, sniffling, when she looked up and noticed Pisces standing there. Pisces instantly felt guilty that she didn't remember the girl's name—she's really bad with names, and anyways, the crew usually just calls each other by their stage names. However, that didn't stop her from comforting the girl.
She sat down on the bench beside her. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked.
The girl quickly took a breath of air and explained the situation. Apparently, one of the members of the cast had told her that her singing was flat, and overall just made her feel insecure about her voice. She knew he was just giving constructive criticism, but she hadn't asked for it in the first place.
"Can I ask who the was?" Pisces soothed. "I want to have a word with him."
"He's the leading man."
At Aqua's house, she and Gemini were playing Mario Kart, when really, they should have been studying. Gemini jumped up in the air victoriously as he crossed the finish line, inches ahead of Aquarius.
"Oh shut the fuck up. If you hadn't pulled that dick move of a blue shell on me when I was in first place, then you wouldn't have won."
"But I still did." He smirked.
"You better wipe that look off your face before I smack it off, boy." Gemini continued his little celebratory dance. Suddenly, Aqua's phone vibrated with a text from someone.
"Who is it?" Gemini asked, nosily. "Ooh is it your boy-"
"Don't even go there."
"Hey I'm just asking a simple question," he grinned. "And if you don't answer me, I'll just have to find out for myself." As he was talking, he sneakily grabbed Aquarius's phone and ran off with it.
"YOU'RE GONNA GET IT NOW, SHITHEAD!" She screamed and bolted after him.
They chased each other around the house until Gemini tripped and smacked his face on the hard wood floor.
"Ha! That's what you get!" Aqua yelled and jumped on top of him, still trying to grab her phone. He used his body as a shield so he could check the message.
"Aw it's just Sagittarius. She wants to know if she can come over because she's bored."
Aqua sighed, relieved, and stood up. "Well tell her no because Leo and Pisces are coming here any minute and it would just be too hectic." Aqua usually had one or the other come over after their rehearsal, but this time, they were both showing up.
"Speak of the devils," Gemini said as Aquarius helped him off of the ground.
Leo and Pisces opened the door without knocking, something usual for the male but not for the female. As they stepped into the house, it became apparent that they were angry at one another.
"-and you didn't have to be so rude!"
"It's not like I was purposely trying to make her cry! It's called constructive criticism!"
"Well you were a huge donkey butt about it!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Gemini said, cutting in. "What's going on?"
"God damnit, Gem. I was just about to get the popcorn," Aquarius remarked from the kitchen. The other three ignored her.
"Well this jerk here-"
"She means amazing person."
"-decided it was his job-"
"It was my civic duty."
"-to tell a girl that her singing sucks-"
"I was trying to help."
"-and make her cry," Pisces finished, crossing her arms defiantly.
"Okay that I do actually feel pretty bad about," Leo admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "But how was I supposed to know she wasn't going to take it well?"
"You can't just assume everyone wants to hear what you have to say," Pisces shook her head. "But you should really apologize to her."
Leo contemplated her statement, not saying a word.
"This is way more interesting than Mario Kart," Aquarius whispered to Gemini.
"Ugh, Aquarius, why you no answer your phone?" Sagittarius groaned. She was utterly bored, and trying to think of a way to keep herself busy. She had plans for next weekend—her prank on Taurus—but this weekend? Nada.
Suddenly, a light bulb went off in her brain.
"I'll just have to host a party." Then she began to giggle maniacally. "Where maybe I can hook up a few of my OTPs. Muhahah!"
Chapter three is done. This one took me a little longer than the other ones. I have this idea of how I want everything to play out but the details of getting there are so arduous. Anyways, things are getting spicy and I'm excited even though I know what's going to happen. Now we'll move on to the chapter-ly questions:
What will Libra do to help Taurus?
Who is Aquarius's boii?
What are some of Sagittarius's OTPs?
Find out in the next chapter of Oh My Stars! (Wow I feel like a tv announcer).
'Till next time,
Champion_01
