•06• Prince Charming & Cindrella

Pehle ishq mein tune mujhko dhoka diya hai

Duja logo'n ko hasne ka bhi mauka diya hai

Jhoothi teri thi kasmein, jhoothe tere the vaade

Jhoothi teri wafaa-dariyan

Jaa dekhi teri yaariyan... yaariyan

Jaa dekhi teri yaariyan... yaariyan

Aara was humming her newest favourite song with earphones plugged in her ears and was getting ready for her afternoon shift.

“Aara, a cup of coffee for table no. 37.” A fellow waitress informed.

Aara sighed. She wanted to keep listening to the song but listening music don't pay you salary. So she put a whole Mt. Everest over her heart and removed the earphones.

She entered the kitchen and picked the order. Aara tried her best to act like a professional waitress. Active, respectful, and someone who doesn't swoon over handsome men.

“Your order, sir.” She placed the coffee on the table.

The person sitting there diverted his attention from his tablet to the waitress standing in front of him.

He was handsome, but not someone you can categorise as hot or sexy. He looked mature kind of handsome. Chivalrous, someone who knows how to respect women.

“Thanks for the coffee, miss.” He smiled.

It's said that if you want to know about someone's real nature, observe how he or she behaves with waiters. And the way he had shown respect towards her, she knew he had a great heart.

“That's my job, sir.” She returned his smile and went back to the kitchen.

But obviously his kind nature caught her attention. Aara took orders from other customers, did other necessary works. But she was attentively observing his actions.

The way his lips were moving on their own while he was thinking, a habit overthinkers posses.

The way he was frowning while looking at his wrist-watch every twenty seconds.

The way he was turning to the main door after every sip of his coffee.

He was waiting for someone. Someone important.

And finally his eyes beamed when a beautiful woman entered the cafe.

She was wearing a black office suit. Her face was void of anything artificial. She was a natural beauty and she knew that very well. The way she was walking so confidently, that too on five-inch heels, it really impressed Aara. The woman was a Boss Lady to be exact. The one hell bent breaking stereotypical norms regarding Indian women.

“Aara, are you a lesbian?” Her fellow waitress Siya asked.

Her question shocked the poor Aara. Aara looked at Siya weirdly. Has she gone made to ask such question? Even after knowing that Aara has total ten male crushes and the list keeps increasing every day.

“Why did you ask?” Aara reacted as if she was accused of murder. The situation was scandalous for her.

“Just got a feeling from the way you were checking out that lady.” Siya shrugged.

Aara's eyes and mouth widened in shock.

She checked out a woman and didn't even realise this?

But no, she didn't check her out. She admired her confidence.

“I wasn't checking her out. It's just that she has a confident personality.” Saying so Aara sprinted away.

Siya frustratingly cursed herself for asking such a stupid question. She has got a big mouth and she knew it very well. But still curious cutie sometimes crosses the boundary between sanity and insanity.

Siya went to take the order from the same woman who was now sitting with that guy who looked cute wearing his specs.

She was thinking if she should somehow indirectly ask about his Instagram ID or not. She won't mind stalking him there and maybe in real as well, if her job allowed.

“A black coffee, please.” The women said in a polite tone.

Siya was genuinely surprised at her polite tone, because the woman looked bossy and demanding, not sincere and modest. Maybe, that's why it's said that looks can be deceiving.

She entered the kitchen.

“A cup of black coffee.”

Aara rushed to make black coffee, while curiously glancing towards that couple.

“I thought that woman will be bossy in nature, but she is really polite.” Siya praised the lady while leaning against the shelf.

“That guy is also respectful towards others.” Aara added.

“They will make such a cute couple.” Siya said dreamily.

“What if they aren't a couple?” Aara looked at Siya.

“Lets find out then.”

Aara poured the black coffee into a cup and put it on a tray. While Siya picked that tray and headed to the table no. 37.

“Your order, ma'am.” She put it in front of her.

“Thank you.” The woman smiled and took a sip.

“Will you both like some snacks along with beverages?”

“I am almost done with my coffee, but bring fruit cake for her.” The guy replied, to which his lady looked at him surprisingly.

“You know I like fruit cake?” She was happy that he knew.

“Of course, I do.” But he shrugged, as if it's nothing.

But it was everything for her. That he notices her, that he cares for her.

Siya was looking at them in awe. They are so adorable!

“A fruit cake, then. I'll bring it.” And she headed back to the kitchen.

She had just stepped inside the kitchen and Aara blasted the question.

“Are they a couple?” She was curious as a cat.

“Not yet.”

“What do you mean?”

“They love each other, but haven't confessed it. But they are made for each other!”

Aara hummed.

“Oh, I just forgot. Prince Charming has ordered fruit cake for his Cindrella.”

“Let me serve this time.” Aara declared enthusiastically and quickly served fruit cake on a platter. With the platter of delicious fruit cake in her hands she rushed to the "not yet" couple.

“Your order, ma'am.”

“Thank you.” the Cindrella smiled and the way she looked at the fruit cake, it was evident how much she loved eating them.

Aara put it on the table and headed back to the kitchen.

Now Aara and Siya were working in the kitchen but were glancing at the couple every now and then.

The way she offered him a piece of cake.

The way he first refused, but when she pouted, he took a bite.

The way she ate the same piece, pretending as if it's not a big deal.

The way he hid his million dollar smile at her action.

“They are so cute, Aara.” Siya whispered.

“They truly are.” Aara was smiling and wishing that they always remain the same.

“Bill, please.” The guy beckoned a passing by waitress.

“Sure, sir.” She nodded and came to Aara and Siya.

“Anyone of you, please make the bill of table no. 37.”

“They are leaving?” Siya was disappointed, looking at them made her so happy.

“Siya, of course, they will leave. It's a cafe, not their home.” Aara told.

“We will never see them again?”

“Maybe.” Aara pulled out a slip to make the bill.

Siya really adored such moments and if it was upto her then she would spend her whole life enjoying other's happy moments. Same goes for Aara.

Happiness is infectious, one happy soul can make hundred others happy.

And that's how Prince Charming and Cindrella left the cafe, and the two innocent fairies kept missing them whole time.

But that wasn't the end.

Another Prince Charming was coming to meet his Cindrella.

While writing Siya, I thought "yeah, I had seen her profile, her username was Siya. Let's name this character Siya then."
