Oh My God

"John, no! Stop, oh my God! John I hate you!" I shout at him.

He laughs softly. "Don't be mad because I'm beating you." He replies.

We continue to play and I finally get my car ahead of his and gasp. "I'm winning! I'm winning! I'm wi-"

Suddenly a red shell comes out of nowhere and hits my car, causing me to stop. Just as this happens, John passes me and crosses the finish line, getting first place. I groan and set the controller on the ground, staring at him.

He chuckles and pulls me close. "Aw, is someone a sore loser?" He asks.

I pout and try to pull away from him. "No, I just don't like losing." I say stubbornly.

He pulls me even closer and rubs my back. "It's okay, babe." He says in a baby voice. "You're a sore loser. The sooner you accept that, the sooner we can help you."

"I don't want help, I wanna win." I roll my eyes and shove out of his grasp, picking up my controller. "Let's go, rematch."

Before John could answer, his phone rang. I shake my head as he looks at the contact name and answers it. "Hello?"

There was a silence as he was listening to whoever was on the other side of the phone. He slowly smiled and nodded.

"Okay, that sounds great. We're on our way now." He tells them.

I groan and look up at him. I didn't want to go anywhere, I wanted to beat him in Mario Kart.

"Alright, see you soon." He hangs up the phone and I shake my head.

"What did you just sign us up for? I don't wanna leave." I complain.

"Well, you can stay home if you want, but Peggy is finally ready for us to meet her girlfriend." John says, smiling smugly.

I gasp softly. "Really? She's finally ready?"

He nods and stands up. "Yes, so unless you wanna wait another month and a half, I suggest you get up and get ready."

I nod and get up, rushing to the room to get changed. Peggy has been dating the girl from the cafe, Victoria, for a month and a half now. And she has not let us meet her except for the first time in the cafe, but we didn't really meet her.

But now apparently she was ready, so we were going to... wherever John drives us.

We pull up to a cute little restaurant and John opens the door for me, allowing me to go in first. "Oh, why thank you, you're such a gentleman." I say, chuckling softly.

He nods and smiles. "I try my best."

We walk inside and John soon finds the table, taking my hand and walking us over to it. I see Peggy sitting next to the young girl from the cafe, looking nervous. We sit across from her and I smile.

"Hi, I'm Alex, it's nice to finally meet you." I say, holding my hand out for her.

She nods and grabs my hand, shaking it. "I'm Victoria, and likewise." She smiles.

John nods. "And I'm John. Peggy's told us a lot about you." He says.

"Right! So, Vicki, this one's my brother and this one is my brother-in-law." She says, pointing to John, then me.

I blush gently. "No, not technically-"

"It's all practically." John says, blushing as well. "I'm not really her brother, but she's like a little sister to me."

"Yeah, and uh, we're not married." I say, gesturing between John and I.

Victoria laughs softly and nods. "I'm aware, she's told me before."

"It's just easier to refer to you guys in that way." Peggy shrugs.

I shake my head. "Uh, anyway, let's talk other stuff, yeah?"

John nods. "Yes, good idea. Uh, are you from Jersey?"

Victoria shakes her head. "No, I moved here last year. My parents didn't feel like taking care of me anymore, so I moved up here with my sister."

"Oh, you have an older sister?" I ask, tilting my head.

"Yeah, you guys will get to meet her in a little bit, she just has to get off work first." She explains. "She's really a great person, always looking out for me."

"That's great, older siblings are the best." I nod slowly.

"What about you guys? Do you guys have any siblings?"

"Um, sorta. I have a sister. She's not really my sister, but she basically is." I say, hoping she wouldn't find that confusing.

John nods. "I have a little sister, she just turned nine. She lives back in New York with my dad."

"I've always wanted a little sister." She smiles. "Instead? I am the little sister."

"I mean that's fun, too. Being the oldest means a lot of responsibilities and such." John chuckles.

Victoria smiles and looks past us, her smile widening a little bit. "Oh, she's here!" She says, waving at someone.

I turn, but can't see anyone.

"Carrie, we're over here!" Victoria calls.

I freeze and look at Peggy, who furrows her eyebrows in confusion. I then look to John, who seems scared almost. A familiar blonde comes up to the table and she freezes, staring at all of us with the same expression Peggy was wearing.

"Uh, Tori, why are these people here?" She asks in a concerned tone.

"What do you mean?" Victoria asks. "I told you, I wanted you to meet my girlfriend. These are her two friends."

Carrie shakes her head. "We've met before.." She mumbles, staring at John, who was staring at the table in front of him.

Peggy clears her throat. "Uh, this is kind of awkward.." She says, looking between me, John, and Carrie.

"Kind of?" I ask, scoffing slightly.

"I'm so confused, can someone fill me in here?" Victoria asks, sounding annoyed.

"Babe, come on, I'll go tell you, but over there preferably." Peggy sighs, standing up and ushering Victoria to a less crowded place.

Carrie crosses her arms and looks at me. "I thought I'd never have to see you again." She scoffs.

"Likewise. I'm not quite impressed with the situation." I say.

"I hope you know I'm not going to let my sister hang around anyone like you." She says stubbornly.

I frown at this. "Really? You hate your sister so much that you would take away someone that makes her happy?" I ask. "That's pretty messed up and ridiculous."

"She may make her happy for now, but I know how you guys are. And I'm sure that girl is just the same way. I'm just saving her from heartbreak." She shrugs.

"Saving her from heartbreak? When have we ever broken your heart? When you were trying to steal John from me and he finally said no?" I ask.

She smirks softly. "Sounds like it hasn't quite healed yet."

I frown angrily. "You know what-"

"Carrie, haven't you done enough damage?" John asks quietly. "You already tried to ruin mine and Alex's relationship, don't try and ruin Peggy and Victoria's, too."

Carrie scoffs. "I never tried to ruin your relationship, that was all you guys. It's not my fault you two don't know how to get along with each other."

I shake my head. "No, stop that. You need to stay out of people's relationships, especially your own sister's."

As if on cue, Victoria walks back, not seeming happy. Peggy quickly follows her, but I can't tell if she's having a good or bad reaction.

"Come on Carrie, we should get going." She says.

Peggy seems stressed as she shakes her head. "Vicki, no, wait-"

"No, I won't sit here and listen to your lies anymore. Talk to me when you wanna stop spreading misinformation about my sister." Victoria snaps at her. Carrie stands up and the two exit the restaurant, leaving Peggy staring at the door.

I frown gently and hold John's hand. "Maybe we should head back home." I suggest.

John nods and we stand up. We wrap our arms around Peggy, walking back to our apartment in complete silence.
