I'm Never Gonna Make It Halfway To The Moon

Okay, I lied. I am super jealous. Flat out, jealous.

And I know I shouldn't be. There's no reason for me to be.

It's just that for the past two weeks, John's been hanging out with his new fancy art friends almost every time he has nothing else to do. We used to spend every Friday and Saturday night watching movies, going out and such.

Now he's off with his friends doing some new seminar for new artists. None of them are new, they just thought it would be fun to go back to the basics.

John invited me, but I told him I didn't feel comfortable painting in front of strangers. So he went without me.

I sigh as I sit on my couch and decide to call Peggy. She was nice to talk to, actually. I could see why John was such close friends with her.

"What?" She answers, looking tired and stressed.

"Ouch, junior year not treating you so nice?" I ask, chuckling gently.

"Don't you fucking laugh at me. I'm literally dying right now."

I roll my eyes. "You're not dying, you'll be fine." I tell her, to which she flips me off.

"I am dying. In French especially." She says before gasping. "Wait, you know French, right?"

"Oui." I reply and she rolls her eyes.

"You're annoying you smart ass." She sighs. "If I send you a picture of my homework will you translate it for me?"

"You of all people should know I don't do people's homework for them anymore." I say, smiling at her.

"I know, I know, but I'm drowning here!" She exaggerates. "Angie's really made me stop messing around and put it in my head that I need to start doing good in school."

I chuckle softly. "Okay, this one time, since you're drowning. You know, as if I'm not."

"Yeah, well, you chose a hard school." She shrugs. "How are you guys doing up in Jersey, by the way? I feel bad that I haven't been able to visit since you left."

I shrug. "We're doing alright. John loves art school, and the people there." I mumble the last part.

"Alexander Hamilton, are you jealous?" She asks, half scoffing while smiling widely.

I blush and cross my arms. "No! He can have friends, I don't care!"

She smirks. "Uh huh. When's the last time you two hung out for more than ten minutes?"

I look down and sigh. "Two weeks.." I say quietly. "But to be fair, we're both very busy with work and school and-"

"Alex, you're jealous. That's okay." She says. "Two weeks is a long time, you should take him on a date."

I frown. "But what if he already has plans? I don't want to steal him away from his friends-"

"You're his boyfriend, he loves you more than his new friends." She explains. "Now, I've gotta get this homework done, I'll send you the picture of my French homework and then you text me when your next date is."

I chuckle and wave as she hangs the phone and as if on cue, John walks through the door. I look over at him and smile, standing up to greet him. He clearly didn't see me however, because he went straight to the bedroom. I raise an eyebrow and follow him to see him going to change.

I walk in after him and wrap my arms around him, surprising him. "Oh, Alex, I didn't know you were home." He admits.

I frown but just kiss his cheek in response. "Oh, you know, just working on some homework."

He smiles and turns to face me, holding my waist. "Well, I'm glad you're home, I feel like I haven't seen you in forever."

I smile up at him. "Oh, well, you know. School, hanging out with friends, work, we're both kind of busy."

He frowns gently and pulls me a bit closer. "I'm sorry, Alex, really.. We need to do something soon."

"Well, I was thinking we could go on a date this Sunday. It's been a while since we've went on one." I smile up at him, and he sighs and looks to the side.

"I don't know, a few friends of mine want to get together on Sunday, since it's their only day off."

I frown. "Oh.. I see.."

He then gasps. "We could do that game night thing you suggested. I'll invite a few people and you can invite a few people. It'll be fun!"

Now, I really wanted to say no. I wanted to spend time with John, not John and friends. But seeing that this was the only way I'd get to spend time with him, I plaster a fake smile on my face and say,

"That sounds great."

He smiles widely and hugs me. "Sounds awesome. Thanks, Lex."

I hug him back. "Of course, John."

He kisses my cheek. "It's getting late, why don't we head to bed?"

I nod and follow him to the bedroom, getting changed and cuddling up next to him. I sigh softly as I fall into a light sleep.
