Oh Mira...

Technology. It elevates the world and makes life better. Sometimes. Other times, I'd be much better off doing things myself. Take my phone for instance. It's the newest update, sleek, customizable, and has amazing features I will probably never use in my life. Yet, instead of waking me up, it decided to die in the middle of the night causing me to stumble out of bed alarming the entire house. At least someone got the job done.

Looking in my bathroom mirror, I probably shouldn't have pushed that last episode of Vampire Diaries until two in the morning. Now I was beginning to turn into one. I rub at the dark bags under my eyes while tapping the mirror screen to access the inside camera and peek at my medicine cabinet. Lazy, I know, but to be fair, I was barely awake and had no recollection of even walking into the room. I needed all the energy I could get. And I'm all out of concealer. Looks like I'm roughing it today. "Mira, what time is it?"

"The time is 7:45. You are running late for school."

Yup.

One quick shower later.

"Mira, show me my closet." While towel drying my hair, I flip through the outfits I downloaded to the mirror's closet app. I wore that shirt yesterday...I don't even like that outfit, why...Was that Cosplay? It's funny, because I thought this was supposed to assist me, but really it was turning out to be a complete waste of time-Wait, I actually like this one. "I am so late."

"Delete."

"No!"

One closet rampage later.

I brush my hair semi-presentable while contemplating my current standings. No concealer, no hair products. Could the day get any better? Let's hope so. "Mira, show me the back." A view of the back of my head appeared on the mirror. Not my best hair day, but it was a solid pass. Wait, was my shirt inside out?

One horrible school day later.

Blubbering beside the toilet, I snatch the last sheet of toilet paper to blow my nose. "Her? Of all people. Seriously?"

My best friend Tiff sits beside me leaning her head on my snot drenched shoulder. She gives me a big squeeze and for one second I feel like this isn't the end of the world. "He's not worth it, okay. I know what will cheer you up. Mira, play Cydni's favorite song."

Mira lights up with colorful music visualization synchronized to..."That's our song."

Tiff jumps to her feet to shut it off.

One self-reflection later.

Staring at my face in the mirror is like holding a magnifying glass to every single one of it's flaws. My baby lashes, the acne scars vandalizing my forehead, the scatter of freckles burying the bridge of my nose. The bags. It was the bags wasn't it? I bet she never has bags. Her skin is perfect. "Mira, make me look pretty."

Mira removed all the glowing widgets from the surface with one swipe until only my sad reflection remained. "You are beautiful." My reflection couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah, I am."

Technology. I guess it has potential after all.
