Max X Reader (Story Idea)
hey look another highschool au, except this is different.
This might actually become a story one day if I like the idea enough.
It kinda reminds me of heathers but no killing
bare with me, I only got an idea for a scene like this
——-
//Your POV//
My lips quivered as I stared down the dark brown abyss in my red solo cup.
"C'mon Y/n! Just drink it!" Emma coaxed me.
For context, Emma is one of the most popular girls in school who happened to throw a party tonight.
She lives on the same street as me, but we barely know each other expect her reputation as one of the top people on the highschool food chain, a senior seductress, and mine, a shrimpy, junior geek.
She was on her way back to her house before the party started in her convertible when she noticed me walking home from the 7/11 from around the corner.
She must've pitied me enough to make me her new project.
"Hey! Come to my party! I'll make you cool!" Was what she baited me with.
And me, being my stupid self, agreed.
Emma had many expectations for me; She wanted to 'doll me up', get my drink, smoke pot, and loose my virginity, none of which I was willing to do.
The most I let her to do was put a little makeup on my face before the party started.
I took a tiny sip of whatever liquor was in the cup and gagged immediately, forcing myself to swallow it.
"Good, right?" Emma smiled eagerly.
I told her what she wanted to hear, "Y-Yeah, it's cool."
I didn't want to make the queen of hearts angry, unless I wanted to be decapitated.
"Knew you would like it! Let me get you some more-"
"Actually, I need to use the bathroom. Where is it?" I cut her off, lying so I could get away from her and try to wait out the party.
"Upstairs to the right of my bedroom. It's all the way down the hall."
"K, thanks."
I squeezed my way past the smelly crowd of drunk teenagers.
'Why did I agree to this? If this is what being cool is, then I don't want to be cool! Fuck the popular kids. Fuck Emma,' I yelled in my head.
I knew she was trying to be "nice", but she was probably going to try to get something out of this.
Probably make me do her homework for her.
I slammed the door to the bathroom and locked it, staring intently at the mirror, disappointed in myself.
What was I doing here?
This wasn't me.
These weren't the people I hung out with.
I left the bathroom and decided to explore the upstairs for a little bit when I saw a light shining through the cracks of Emma's bedroom door.
I passed the parents room where I heard people going to third base in and slowly approached her room.
I knocked on the door softly.
"Come in," I heard a guy's voice.
I poked my head through the door to see just one dude in there.
He was wearing a black hoodie with a white T-shirt poking out, with black jeans and high top sneakers, he also had a small piercings in one of his ears.
His eyes were a sea green color.
His hair raven black while his skin had the color of caramel.
He was just sitting on the floor cross legged leaning against Emma's bed staring at his phone.
"Uh..Hi?" I greeted awkwardly.
"Hey," He didn't look up.
I stood there for a little bit until he looked up from his phone, "Are you a junior?"
I had a feeling he was senior, since he looked a little older than me and I haven't really seen him around.
"Yeah..Emma just kinda, dragged me into this party."
"Hm. Sounds like something that plastic princess would do," He set his phone aside, "What's a nerd like you doing here?"
"Again, Emma felt pity on me."
"I get that just, why'd you come?"
"I...honestly don't know. I guess the promise of being cool sounded nice."
"There's a difference between looking cool and being cool, girly," The boy smirked.
"Well aren't you just pleasant...what are you doing here anyways?" I questioned him.
"And How is that any of your business?"
"I just wanted to know," I shrugged.
"It was just a little too loud for me down there. I usually wouldn't have come but I promised Nikki and she'd kill me if I didn't go."
'Nikki?'
"Oh..I'd honestly rather be home too."
"Yeah.."
He was right, it was way quieter up here.
I shut the door and sat next to him, kind of enjoying his company more than anyone else's.
He looked me up and down, "You really don't look like you belong here. More like a library."
"Ha..yeah."
"That makeup just isn't you, I can tell. Emma make you wear that shit?"
"Yep. I hate it."
"What's your name anyways?"
"Y/n, Y/n L/n. Yours?"
"Just call me Max."
"So, what you be rather doing right now?" I asked him, curious.
"Probably getting stoned in my basement."
"That's...lovely."
"Yeah I wouldn't expect anything like that from you."
"Mhm. I would say I'd rather be sleeping or maybe watching Netflix."
"Sounds like a better time than now," Max nodded.
Our conversation was just getting good when Emma had to barge in, piss drunk.
"There you are! C'mon Y/n, if you wanna be like me then can't hang out with people like himmmm!!!!" She slurred as she lazily pointed at Max, beer in her other hand.
"The feeling is mutual, thot," Max hissed.
Emma pulled at my arm, forcing me out of the room, so I waved bye to Max, him complying.
—Later—
I don't think I ever wanted to go home so badly.
All these catty, drunk bitches were making me loose brain cells by the minute.
The only decent conversations I had that night were with some hyper girl with turquoise hair and Max.
Speaking of, while Emma was forcing me in some conversation I didn't care about, I saw him in my peripheral vision.
We soon made eye contact, so I smiled and waved.
He waved back, wiggling his fingers sarcastically.
'Shit he's kinda cute.'
Emma followed my gaze, seeing I was staring at him.
"Y/n..? Do you seriously like that trash bag?"
"I don't think he's a trash bag. We just met before and he seemed nice."
"Newsflash girl, he's kind of a douchebag. I'd say stay away," Emma clicked her tongue.
'Hypocrite.'
I rolled my eyes as I watched him go out to the front porch.
The urge to go out too was high, but I knew Emma was watching me like a hawk and I honestly didn't want to make her mad.
Nobody wants to make Emma Goldberg mad.
I instead drifted towards the window right next to the porch, and he saw me.
Max made the motion with his hands, "come out here".
I moved my head towards Emma so he could see she was right there.
He mouthed the words "fuck it" and did the same motion again.
So, I sighed, and hurried outside before she could notice.
"Sup, Nerd girl."
"Hi.."
I watched as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it, taking a hit.
He must've noticed me watching him, "Want one?"
"No, I don't smoke."
"Thought so."
"I kinda want to go home," I sighed.
Max kinda stared at me for a little bit, then sighed and said, "Want me to walk you home?"
"Really? You'd do that?"
"I got nothing better to do."
I felt blush scatter on my face.
"You're blushing," He smirked.
"Shut up," I razzed him.
He finished his cigarette and stomped it out, leaving the bud on the porch.
"Alright kid. You got everything?"
"Kid?"
"Yeah, I'm calling you kid. Got a problem with it?"
"N-No..I just-"
"Christ, Y/n, grow some thicker skin, will ya?"
"Oh..sorry."
"It's fine. I should warn you, I'm an asshole," Max shrugged.
"That's alright with me. You're the realest person here."
"Thanks. You ready to go?"
"Yeah. I'll show you where my house is," I nodded smiling.
By the end of the night, we exchanged numbers.
We had a little chat on my doorstep before he left.
"Well, here's my stop."
"Nice house," He said.
"Heh, Thank you," I smiled, "And thanks for keeping me company tonight."
"Thanks for making tonight more interesting," Max nodded.
"Will I be seeing you on Monday?" I asked.
"Possibly, L/n," He winked.
"Goodnight, Max."
"Night', Y/n."
And I went inside, got ready for bed after getting questioned by my parents why I was out so late, and laid in bed.
As much as I tried to go to bed, all I could think about was him.
There was something about him that just made me..happy.
All I could say was that I wanted to see him again.
