Chapter 3 - Rogue

Red's POV

Bang!

I sighed as David threw the match at the man, burning him. When you turn into a criminal, sometimes you have to kill. But being one for so long, I've gotten used to it. Yeah, I do feel my sins crawling on my back but I don't mind it. When all was left was a pile of ash, we got in the car and went back to HQ.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

"Five more minutes," I mumbled. I groaned when the beeping still wouldn't stop. "Oh my god just stop!" I yelled, taking the knife under my pillow and throwing it at the direction of the sound. By the time it stopped, I was already awake. I grumpily got up and checked what was making the sound. Hey, I just woke up. Let me be an idiot.

Apparently, the 'thing' was my alarm clock. It now had a knife piercing through the middle. I groaned once more and flopped on the bed.

"That's my 30th alarm clock this month," I complained. I sighed as I got ready for school. Being the youngest in the group, I had to get the 'school girl' cover. Yippie. Although it wasn't that bad. I got to go to school with John so it wasn't that bad.

A huge smile made it's way to my face when I smelled the aroma of fresh coffee. I quickly got out my house and dashed to the nearby cafe. And when I say nearby, I mean like five minutes walking distance. Yeah, it's pretty convenient.

"Here's your coffee Red," Liz, the cafe owner said, not even checking if I was there. She very well knew that I would be here in a minute or so. It was kind of a routine by now.

"Thanks Liz!" I exclaimed, taking a sip as I put some cash on the counter. Mmm~. This coffee is good~. But aren't all coffee are? I chuckle at my thoughts, earning a weirded out and playful look from Liz. I just gave her a goofy grin as I continued drinking. I stayed there for a while, savouring the coffee and the calmness of the place before I sighed.

"Well I've got to go. Thanks for the coffee Liz," I said, walking out with the coffee in my hand.

I started humming a tune as I walked to school. When I arrived at the school gates, I was greeted by John -who was probably waiting for me.

"Heya John!" I greeted, putting the disposable cup of coffee in my bag's water bottle pocket. It was a little habit of mine, collecting coffee cups. I stacked them up, often drawing on them as well, placing them all around the house. It was my way of keeping track on how much coffee I had -cough cough more than a thousand in total cough. And yes, I did wash the cups.

We talked about stuff until the first lesson started - Self Defence. Despite being a criminal, I sucked at that class. We usually just had to have hand to hand combat, which is one of the reasons I sucked. I'm not entirely dependent on weapons, that's for sure. If I was I'd be dead meat. And I wasn't that bad at hand to hand combat either. It's just that we can't hurt anyone that much, which sucks for me because my fighting style revolves around quick and painful attacks.

Luckily, we didn't really fight today. Out teacher, Mr Kewa, just went through on how to use knives without inflicting any serious injuries. It was a relief when the bell rang, meaning it was our chill time.

Chill time is basically a pre-recess. It lasted thirty minutes after the first one hour of school, and after that was the actual recess. We didn't eat because one, we were in the classroom. Two, eating was for recess.

I was absentmindedly listening to one of my classmates when I felt someone tap my shoulder.

Silvia. The devil.

"Um, hey Silvia," I greeted. Silvia and I weren't really the best of friends. Silvia was known to be one of the popular girls in school. Her family was well off, kind of spoiling her. They were the stereotypical rich family, the stay at home mother, the wealthy father and the pretty popular child. Our little, um, 'unspoken war', started a few days after school started. I was walking towards the school gates -where John and I would meet before stopping by HQ- when I saw her flirting with him. He was obviously uncomfortable, trying to get her off his chest. I mischievously giggled before taking a photo of the situation for reasons. After a minute of watching the hilarious scene, I decided to help him.

"Hey John!" I exclaimed, giving him a big tight hug. Originally, I just gave him one of my friendship hugs to get Silvia of him. However, she took that the wrong way. The glared at me and spat, "who are you?"

I let go of John, still grinning like an idiot. "Oh. I'm Red, John's friend!" I exclaimed, giggling a little just to piss her off even more. Yup, that glare didn't go unnoticed. Her face was red with anger as she huffed and sashayed away. I didn't mean to get her jealous but, oh well. Works for me -she did go away by herself.

After that incident, she's been relentlessly hitting on John. It didn't affect me a lot, just that I'm not a big fan of romantic love. It's complicated, unnecessary and straight down disgusting. Although I didn't hate love, I still enjoyed watching and reading some romances, just that I don't like it in real life. And my opinion on love made her hate me even more. Which leads us to where we are now.

I shifted awkwardly under her smirk. I knew shit was going down. "Whatcha' doing here?"

"Oh nothing," she replied in a sickeningly sweet tone. It was fake, just like mine at sometimes. "But," she continued, dragging the 'u', "is it true when John said you're part of the criminal gang?" She unmistakably said the last part louder so the whole class could hear her. Everyone's eyes landed on me except for one.

John. He wasn't in the class at all.

Freaking John! He ratted me out! I scrunched up my face, pretending to be confused. "What do you mean? Is this a prank or something. It's obvious I'm not a part of the criminal gang. I mean, we don't even know their genders. Not to mention I suck at self defence. And from what I've heard, they are really strong," I defended. The rest murmured in agreement.

"Yes, they are admittedly strong. But how do we know you're not just holding back? That you've been lying to us the whole time?" she asked. The murmuring got even louder. This is taking to long. I slammed my desk, making everyone shut up and gaining their attention.

"Look, whatever John told you is obviously a lie. First of all, how would he know? He's obviously not a criminal. I mean, he's a teachers pet for god sakes! Secondly, how could you all just turn on me like that!? I thought we were friends. I trusted you, and I expected you to trust me back," I said. The class had shameful looks. I sighed, picking up my bag and said, "I'm not feeling well. I better go home."

I walked out and made my way to the nurse's office, getting an excuse to leave school. Once the school was out of sight, I ran to HQ, using a shortcut only I knew about to avoid anyone. Including John.

"Well hello Red!" David greeted me. He opened his mouth to say something else when I interrupted, "David. Call Scott upstairs. Now."

Our HQ was one of those shops with a house on the top. The shop had many things. Most of the inedible stuff are used to disguise ourselves -clothes, make up, wigs, face clay thingies and etc.

"So why did you call us here? And where's John?" Scott asked, leaning on the rails of the staircase. I took a deep breath.

"John's gone rouge."
