The trainee dorms weren't usually this quiet.

For the JYP trainees, they were sectioned off in a building that neighbored the company itself.

18-year-old Christopher Bang was at his desk writing while his roommate slept. The year was 2016, and the young hopeful musician wanted nothing more than to eventually debut.

As he was working on his computer, typing away the words that came to his mind, thunder sounded across the sky.

Without warning, his computer shut off, along with every light in the room.

"Oh come on! Not again! Who maintains the power in this place, they need to get fired."

He got up from his desk, a bit frustrated.

He decided to take a walk around so he could clear his mind and maybe possibly find the person who keeps turning the lights off at the smallest sign of thunder.

He walked into the halls of the trainee dorms, looking around.

"Why is it so cold in here? Someone turning off the heater too? They need to get punched."

Christopher went downstairs, seeing no one there at first. He looked around the lounge area, sighing.

Then, after a second look, he noticed someone on the couch.

"Hey, are you the one turning the lights off?", he asked.

"No."

"Oh. Well, did you see who it was?"

"I didn't."

Chris noticed the boy sounded upset.

He walked over and sat next to him.

"Um...hi. My name is Christopher Bang. But, people call me Chan. What's yours?"

The boy turned to him.

"Jisung. Han."

"I like that name."

The boy smiled.

"Why are you down here all alone looking so sad Jisung?"

Chris heard sniffles.

He turned on his phones flashlight, placing it on the table.

He could see the young boys face, tears falling down and trying to hide it.

"Come on, I know we just met, but you can tell me. What's wrong?"

"I'm scared."

"Of what?"

Jisung sat up.

"I don't want to bother you with my sad stories."

"I don't mind. Please, tell me."

Jisung sighed.

"I want to debut. Like we all do. But...my life depends on it. I can't go back home...if I don't make it to a group..."

"I'm guessing your home life isn't too good."

"It isn't. I was adopted a few years ago. My 'family' doesn't like me because I look so different than them. My real parents died when me and my brother were really young, and we went into foster care. Ten years we spent there."

"So the family adopted you both?"

"They did. And they hate us equally. I want to be successful to not only make a better life for myself...but for my big brother. If I go back home, I'll go back to an abusive household with people who only adopted us for social points."

Chan sighed deeply, leaning back on the couch.

"I wish I could help you.", he said.

"I wish someone could..."

Jisung started to cry again, and Chan sat up.

"Come here."

Jisung hugged him.

"You're gonna make it. You're gonna succeed. I can see it in your eyes."

"Y-you can?"

"Yes. You will do amazing."

Jisung kept hugging him.

They stayed that way for a few minutes.

"Did you fall asleep?", Chan asked.

"No..."

"Oh, hehe. You got really quiet."

Jisung wiped his eyes with his jacket sleeves, a pouty expression on his face.

"Aww, you're adorable!", Chan told him.

"'m not adowable!"

"Hm?"

"Am not adowable! Am cute n handsome!"

Chan did now know what he was hearing.

But he thought it was cute.

"Hehe, you're like a little baby now. Well little baby Jisung, where is your room so I can walk you there?"

"Uh, I not know! I sleep couch?"

"I can't let you sleep on the couch cutie pie."

Jisung pouted more.

"Oh my gosh you're cute!"

Chan squished Jisung's cheeks. It made the baby laugh.

"You can come to my room then. From now on, you're my kid. I'll help you, and do my best to make sure you debut."

Jisung clapped his hands.

Chan stood up, holding the babies hand.

Together they walked back to Chan's room.

Slowly opening the door as to not wake his roommate, Chan snuck back in with Jisung.

"Oh! Chu room so nice Mr.!"

"Why thank you cutie pie."

Jisung sat on Chan's bed.

"It comfy."

"It is. And it's late so time for bed."

"Noooooo."

"Come on cutie pie, sleep time."

"But Mr.! I not want sleep. Want stay up wiv chu!"

Chan laughed.

He sat on his bed next to Jisung.

"You know, it's much more fun when you're smiling."

Jisung smiled wider.

"Adorable. But come on, lay down. Sleep."

Jisung pouted again before agreeing to lay down.

He got under the blankets, wiggling his jacket sleeves in the air, laughing at them.

Chan laid next to him.

Looking at the boy next to him, he felt this sense of happiness. He wanted to protect this kid, with everything he had.

Within about ten minutes, the boy fell asleep.

"And you said you didn't want to go to sleep. Heh."

Chan still laid there, thinking.

That was, until a knock came on his door.

He got up, opening the door.

Standing outside was a small and skinny boy with short black hair and beautiful sparkling eyes.

"Oh. Hi.", Chan said.

"Hello sir! My friend told me to come tell you that he wants to be your friend too because you guys have the same accent."

"He did? And we do?"

Another boy came running up, pushing the young kid aside.

"Hi there. My name is Felix. Nice to meet you. That one of the floor is Jeongin who needs to learn to shut up."

Jeongin stood up.

"You're so mean to me."

"Sorry Jeongin."

Chan laughed.

"You guys are adorable."

"Thank you.", they said in unison.

Chan looked at Jisung, then back to the two in the hallway.

"Well I've already adopted one cutie. I guess two more wouldn't hurt."

Felix and Jeongin invaded Chan's room.

Chan stood in the doorway.

"I wonder if these are the group members I'm looking for..."

He paused.

"And how come all of you just spoke perfect English to me?"
