Now What?
Okay, we have to get that girl out of there soon. I was just informed that she can't be removed because the people there are now worshipping her as a magical princess.
Can we even get rid of this world now if it has that many people on it? It seems cruel to just kill them all, just like that. But, we couldn't possibly handle both worlds and I don't want to just throw away the one we made.
I swear Ariel is in so much trouble when she gets back! How could she just do something like this! There's so much already, and she just has to go and make a new world and set it up so we can't even destroy it without a crisis of morality! Maybe we should just send her down to hell for a few days. It might teach her some manners at least.
I wonder if we should just destroy her world. If we just left it alone, it could end up with a few immortals in it. We can't just have people from different worlds, working together on one. Someone from that world might think that something like the shadowlake is actually okay to have.
In any case, we shouldn't just leave a world completely alone without any gods. That'd be dangerous. We'll just have to get rid of that world completely. It isn't safe, and it's not good for those people anyway. They're ruled by someone who kills half of his citizens as soon as they turn eighteen.
We can send them up to heaven after anyways. Can't we? Surely that's better than what they have right now. Even so, I'd rather get Ariel out of the before we get rid of it completely. If she made it, she should at least have some say in what happens to it. Besides, I don't think any of us should have to go through being in an ending world again.
"Damien," Aaron says, "We need to get her out of there. I think we might be able to stage something that looks like her leaving to join her true people. It won't upset the people too much, and we can get her back up here to handle this mess."
"What did you have in mind?"
"I don't know exactly. I think we could have someone do a whole 'God talking from the heavens' thing. They could tell her she needs to come back to us because the world will be destroyed soon. We can call her our princess, and once she's back we can get rid of the world and send the people on to heaven."
"We're really going to have to destroy it, aren't we?"
"Afraid so. We can't keep it alive. It's toxic anyway. We just have to make the end quick and painless, and then they can have a perfectly nice afterlife. It's sad, but it's for the best."
"Yeah, I know."
"Should we go and do it then?"
"Let's go."
Aaron and I walk through the garden, each lost in our own thoughts. Both sad, but knowing we were doing the right thing. We have to be doing the right thing.
We come up to the fountain and look into the water. Ariel is talking with her new family in there. They look so happy together. It's such a shame that we have to break this up.
"Do you want to do it, or should I?" Aaron asks.
"You should do it. It's your idea, and in any case, you're better at this sort of thing than I am."
"No, I'm not. You just can't tell because I'm always backing up your plans."
"I really wish we could have met before the world ended. It would have been nice to have another person like me for all those years. We probably could have been friends."
"Calm down, you're way older than me. Didn't Matilda have a husband who was immortal?"
"Yeah, it's crazy. They were only born one century apart, and even in the same town too. It's crazy. Those two were so lucky."
"Yeah. Anyway, back to business. Let's get that little brat back up here."
Aaron puts his hands around the fountain, before gently putting his finger in it, as if to break apart the sky inside of it.
"Hello, mortals," he says, "I'm very sad to tell you that your world is reaching its end. We loved it and all of you, but now it's time. Our lovely princess Ariel just wanted to see it and live among its people before we had the destroy this world. Now, we need to take her back to us. We will make sure that all of you get a lavish lifestyle in heaven. Thank you for taking care of Ariel and for being such a perfect race of beings."
Ariel starts to float in the air, she's coming back up to us. She's obviously trying to fight it. I take Aaron's hand and put my other hand into the water to add my power to the mix. She comes slowly, but eventually arrives back out of the fountain. With a wave of my hand, I get rid of this world, and we turn our attention to Ariel.
She's glaring up at both of us, and looks like she would like to send us to hell.
"Ariel," I say, "How could you do something like that?! Do you realize what you could have done?! That was so reckless! You didn't even think about how that affected the rest of us or what could have happened to you!"
"I'm fine," she says, "Nothing happened down there anyways. All I did was have a little bit of fun with a new world. Is that so wrong? Nothing happened to me or anyone else. No one got hurt. So please, just calm down before you hurt yourself."
I wave my hand and send her to hell. I can't deal with this anymore. If she's not going to feel sorry at all, then maybe this will make her feel some kind of remorse for her actions. I just can't anymore. I can't deal with this. She can just sit down there for a little while and learn. At least I won't have to deal with her anymore for a few days.
"Damien," Aaron says, "Did you just-"
"Yeah, I did. I just can't deal with her right now."
"You're going to bring her back up after a couple days, right?"
"Yeah, I will. Besides, she's a goddess. Satan can't do too much to her before she comes back up. She'll probably get a fairly minor punishment for a few days. It'll be just enough to make sure she doesn't do it again."
"She's gonna be really mad when she comes back up."
"Well, I'm mad now."
"I know, I know. Look, let's just work on something else for a few days. That'll give you some time to cool off before she comes back up. Then we can handle this better, and work out a solution. But, Damien?"
"Yes?"
"Let me do most of the talking next time, okay?"
"Yeah, okay."
"Good."
"How did I get so lucky with you?"
"I don't know, you just got a good right hand man. Now, let's go put the first parts of life on our world so it can at least start evolving."
"No speeding up time to add people yet."
"I know, let's just get it ready to go."
"Okay."
