Three

Four funerals.

Three seriously injured including Megan.

It had been her screams after all.

We had attended them all, Dick's friends were all dead. I held his hand, trying to pull him out of his guilt.

Father and Wintergreen had escaped, slipped away while the League had been distracted caring for their dead kids.

Because that was what they were, though all adults, the mentors had lost their children.

Dick threw a chair.

Yet we still won't tell the League our connection to Deathstroke. It felt like we were dishonoring the dead's memory, knowing that it was us who'd brought Wintergreen in.

It was all my fault.

If I hadn't given myself up to Father, none of this would've ever happened. He would have never gained access to the mountain or slaughtered half the team.

Bruce had tried to glean information out of Dick and I, but his son was too lost in grief and I couldn't tell the truth without exposing Dick too.

"Aww, poor little Princess" Father's voice taunted from behind me. I tried to keep my sight on the grave, it was Wally's, as they finished the funeral. "Did I kill some of your precious friends."

Ignore it. Ignore him. It was just a vocal hallucination.

"I'll do worse, you know I will." He mocked, closer this time. "Maybe I'll decide Dick isn't worth my time, focus all my efforts on my only child. That'd mean his death."

No.

Ignore him.

Heroes had gathered around to show their support to Flash, some wore sunglasses to hide their identity, some didn't. It was a trusted circle of people after all.

Iris and Barry were crying.

It'd been a week since the attack, Bruce and Oliver paid for all the preparations, helped in any way they could.

Conner stood beside Superman stoically, jaw clenched. Wally had been kind to me, that's just who he was.

He deserved to live a life, to find love and happiness. They all did.

Wally's casket was lowered into the earth, sending a sense of finality over the group. At least this was the last funeral, they were all heavy and I don't think Dick could take another.

Everyone grabbed a handful of dirt, letting it spill into the grave.

Iris welcomed everyone to her house for the wake after that.

The whole day felt like a blur.

I found Dick in Wally's room, sitting on his bed in the middle of what appeared to be a disaster zone. Maneuvering through it would normally be a challenge, but with a crutch, it was worse.

Eventually, I sat next to Dick, leaning into his side. He'd escaped from the bloodbath relatively unharmed, save for maybe a few pulled muscles and a bruised jaw.

"It's all our fault" He sobbed. "Now he's gone."

"If anything, I'm the one to blame, if it hadn't been for my mistake, he would've never gained access."

"Deathstroke has proven how far he's willing to go" Dick's eyes began to harden. "He's threatened my friends before but he's never killed one of them." His jaw tightened. "I'm going to go after him."

"Hey" I grabbed his shoulder. "I want him gone too, but he's too powerful for us Dick. We wouldn't beat him in combat."

"I don't care" His eyes closed. "Not after all the things he's done. To Wally and you. To everyone. He deserves to be in that grave, Wally or Artemis or Kaldur, or Dinah"

"We should really tell Batman" I pleaded. "He's got resources and he can strip away Slade's."

Dick froze. "There's an idea"

"What?"

He turned to me, knee coming up on the bed. "What if we strip him of everything, his money, his contacts, everything."

"Slade has friends all over the world, we couldn't possibly..."

"Why not? You're the heir to his entire empire, the world believes Slade to be gravely injured, if we could convince everyone that it's worse than what the news is saying, we could potentially strike a blow against him"

"Then we tell Batman? We could really use his help"

"No, we'll do it ourselves." Dick's expression became far off, plans already forming in his mind. "Slade's secrets will die with him"

"You aren't thinking straight" I put my hand on his shoulder again. "You're grieving, killing someone will destroy you"

Dick slumped, defeated. "Wally was my friend"

"I know. But killing Slade won't bring him back" I set my hand on his jaw, drawing his eyes back to me. "I like the plan where we take everything away from him, but after that, we'll put him in a hole so deep and dark, the world will forget him."

Dick gave a small nod of approval. "He's going to pay for what he's done"

"He will." I assured softly. "Now will you come back down? Iris was looking for you"

He took one last look around the room, at the posters haphazardly taped to the wall and the piles of clothes on the floor. "Yeah, just give me a minute"

Dick helped me to my feet before reclaiming his spot on the bed. "I'll see you down there" After I got a nod, I began the trek across the floor, sometimes hopping to avoid tripping.

Everyone was gathered downstairs, Bruce was mostly interacting with Clark and Diana, speaking in low, reverent tones. Luckily for us, all the supers in the rooms were too distracted to listen in on our conversation.

If they did, at most they could realize that Dick and I had interacted with Deathstroke before, something people already knew.

"Keeper, you shouldn't be walking around" Conner appeared at the bottom of the stairs, eyes rimmed red.

"I'm fine" I eased myself to the ground floor, the cut on my stomach wasn't feeling much better than my leg. "My stitches are in tact and my leg only touches the ground when I'm not moving." I gestured toward the full leg cast I had on, trying to ease the clone's worry, which was a little surprising to be honest, he hardly knew me.

It had the be the freaking knee, Slade couldn't have ruined my foot or something easier to manage.

"Still, you and Nightwing are part of the few remaining members of the team, we need you to heal as fast as possible."

Huh.

"I'm no hero Superboy." I pat his arm on the way to the couch.

"Touching wake" Father's voice echoed in my mind. As soon as I was sitting down, I shut my eyes. Not real. "You're going to have to attend a lot of funerals if you keep company with heroes." He spat the word out.

Not real.

Not real.

"You know what'll happen when I get my hands on you" the voice warned. "You're. Going. Crazy." He sung.

No.

"Keeper" my eyes snapped open to discover Barry crouching in front of me. "Is there anything you know.."

About Wally's killer.

He was looking at me imploringly.

My heart ached at the thought of lying to the poor man. He'd already lost his nephew. Now he was just looking for answers.

Answers I could've give until Dick and I both agreed.

It was his secret too.

"I'm sorry Mister Allen, I don't have anything, I was just as blindsided as you all were"

"But you knew, you knew that it was Deathstroke in the mountain" Barry ran a hand through his hair. "And the way you and Nightwing talk to each other, it's like you both know something we don't."

Great. Hero gossip. Seems that either Dick and haven't been as careful as we thought or those with superhearing were blabbing.

"Barry, leave her alone" Dick immediately came to my defense, walking up behind the couch and laying a hand on my shoulder. "She said she didn't know anything and she doesn't."

"How can you be sure?" Oliver Queen stepped forward, the room descending into silence as the gathered crowd turned to listen. "You've said that she doesn't tell you everything, that she knows all of our identities, yet doesn't share them. She could have been the one to let Deathstroke into the mountain." he slurred.

Oh even better, a drunk hero.

I got up with the help of my crutch, retreating to Dick's side, this was getting less and less safe.

"That's enough Arrow" Dick warned, arm wrapped around me. "I get it" he addressed the room. "We're all grieving and looking for someone to blame, looking for things in places that don't exist. Trying to explain what happened. Don't take it out on Keeper. I won't allow you all to turn her into a villain when she isn't one"

"He's right" Superman stepped up. "What happened at the mountain wasn't anyone's fault. Not here. Deathstroke is the one to blame, not Keeper."

"We barely escaped with our lives" Oliver Queen stumbled slightly.

"Deathstroke, while enhanced, is only a man, the scans we got from his accomplice also indicates a human." Batman spoke, the entire room was dead silent.

"That's right, we've taken on Darkseid and many alien threats as well as earthly ones. What's two men against the entire Justice League?" Superman took back the proverbial spotlight. "Sure we were surprised at the mountain, but now we're prepared for what we're going up against and he will lose."

Dick gave me a reassuring squeeze.
