a coping trick i thought i'd share with you all

whenever i have an anxiety attack, i tap my fingers or my hands shake. sometimes both. no matter what, my hands won't stay still.
as anyone with anxiety knows, attacks and ticks are different for anyone. some people rock back and forth, others' breathing pattern changes, and some people have no physical signs of an attack. the way i've learned to cope with these things is to turn my ticks into something else, something i like to do.
for me, like i said, my hands won't stop moving. the way i deal with this or try and control it is typing. when my hands shake, typing on my phone won't work very well for me, but typing on my laptop keeps both my hands and fingers moving and allow more room for shaking hands to hit the correct keys due to the larger size of the keys versus the ones on my phone. it's part of the reason i've grown to love writing; i do it to escape my ticks and distract me from my attack.
this method is very personal, so what works for me might not work for you, and what works for you may not work for anyone else. find what helps you the most.
