"i need you to dance with me."

i wasn't planning on going to kuroo's party that night, but you insisted upon it. because of my blossoming crush on you, i decided to go for the hell of it. at least i'd be with you. besides, there was no way i could say no when you were looking like that, your eyes large and round and pleading. when i agreed, you cheered and whooped, and i suddenly was okay with the idea of going to this party.

i was opposed to parties, which you knew, but you loved them, which i knew. most of the night i made small talk with the few people i knew, all the while looking around just to keep track of where you were so you wouldn't leave without me. i was so afraid of you forgetting me in the sea of people, especially since so many people here were loud and exuberant when i wasn't. i was even more afraid of you leaving with someone other than me, as selfish as both of these fears were.

another difference between us was our opinions on alcohol. you would drink it when everyone else was, and i wouldn't go near the stuff. i wasn't at all surprised when you stumbled over to me, mumbling something incoherently. i sighed, rolling my eyes. "hinata, how many drinks did you have?" i groaned.

you giggled and tripped towards me, startling me. you gripped my jacket, trying to keep yourself upright. i place my hands under your forearms to stabilize you as best as i could. "i only had three.. i think," you hiccuped. i sighed again. you always were a light weight, i thought.

"i'm assuming you need me to drive you home, yes?" i asked. you frowned, shaking your head slightly.

"that's not it," you replied, two hands still gripping the fabric of my clothes. "i need you to dance with me."

i raised an eyebrow at you. "excuse me?"

" i said, i need you to dance with me." you repeated, this time more serious than the last.

i frowned and shook my head. "as much as i'd like to, i can't do that."

"why not!" you pouted, your eyes narrowing and your mouth curving into a deep frown to match mine. i had to look away to restrain myself from pulling you onto the dance floor like you said you wanted me to.

"you're drunk hinata. you won't even remember this conversation tomorrow. you probably don't even want to dance with me, it's just the alcohol talking." i told you.

"baka kageyama! of course i want to dance with you!" you argued, your words slurred. i shook my head again, taking your hand to take you back to your house. you perked up as soon as i grabbed your hand. "are we going to dance now?" you asked hopefully.

"nope, i'm taking you home." i grunted, tugging you along.

your eyes widened in alarm. "y-you can't do that!" you cried. "my parents are home! they'll murder me if they find out i'm drunk!" there was so much pleading in your eyes that i relented.

"fine. we're going to my house."

"oh, your house, aye," you giggled, winking at me.

i socked your arm. you yelped and rubbed your wounded shoulder while glaring at me. "shut up hinata." i mumbled.

you hummed quietly as i led you back to the car. i had to help you into the passenger seat, which proved to be more difficult than it looked. you wouldn't let go of my hand, and when i finally got you off, it reduced you to tears. i sighed heavily. why do you have to play with my feelings like that? i thought, settling into the driver's seat.

"kageyama," you whispered. i was leaned over you, trying to reach your seat belt while trying not to burst into flames from the close proximity at which we were. "i have a secret."

"yeah? and what's that?" i asked.

"well, you know i like guys. and girls." you started. i nodded. "well i have this crush."

"do you?"

"i do. he's very pretty. he was at the party tonight," as you spoke your eyes shined. i barely breathed until i finally clicked the seat belt into place and leaned back into my seat.

"was he?" i replied, my voice shaking. i didn't want to know who it was because i knew there was no way it was me.

"he was!" you said cheerily. "i didn't expect him to come. he doesn't normally go to those types of things. but gosh, is he pretty. he's got these crazy blue eyes, they're really pretty. and even though he acts like a real tough guy, he can be a softy." i nodded, biting my lip. "and we didn't talk much but just knowing he was there made me really happy. i wanted to dance with him, but i never got the chance to," you said wistfully.

i nodded. i swallowed the lump in my throat. "he sounds great," i supplied, coughing back a sob.

"well you would know," you said simply. i looked at you quizically. "you are him," you said, as if this infromation was obvious. i took a deep breath in through my nostrils, eyes wide. your words echoed through my head. i then remembered you were drunk.

sighing, i started the car. "he's just drunk," i mumbled. i looked over to you, smiling obliviously. oblivious to my feelings.
