Meet me on the battlefield
Even on the darkest night
I will be your sword and shield, your camouflage
And you will be mine
--
Lightning flashed and thunder crackled, while the Bounty flew, being pursued by the sinister ghost boy on his very spooky dragon.
''Take positions,'' Wu ordered, and the ninja looked back from the deck of the Destiny's Bounty to see the ghost warrior flying on his dragon.
''Ah, I give you this much. That Ninja never quits.'' Cole said as the dragon roared.
''No ninja ever says quit.'' (Y/n) mumbled, watching Morro.
''Portside!'' Zane warned as his dragon shot a blast of spookiness at the flying ship.
''The cannons!'' Cole told the Lightning Ninja and Jay hopped onto one, firing at the wispy green dragon but missed.
Morro's dragon shot another blast of spookiness at the ship, and Nya quickly turned the steering wheel, making it miss.
''Aah! Let me get this straight. You're just telling us now that you had another pupil before us, and now his cursed spirit has possessed Lloyd, all so that he can take your staff?'' Jay asked, in his usual ranting mood.
''Morro won't stop until he gets what he's after. There's a secret message engraved on it. All these years, I had no idea.'' The old master replied, making (Y/n) sigh.
''Of course. Ha, just another day in Ninjago.'' The Lightning Ninja said.
The Wind Master's dragon caught up to the Bounty, and as (Y/n) looked at him, she could see herself in his eyes.
''If this is as fast as the Bounty goes, I think we're in for some serious trouble.'' The Earth Ninja told the others.
The wispy green Wind Dragon flew up, flying upside-down and flying over the Destiny's Bounty, Morro de-summoned his dragon, dropping down onto the deck of the flying ship and two ghost blades appeared in his hands, laughing.
''I need ink and parchment to make an imprint to see what's on the staff,'' Wu told the others.
''Kai and I will take you to our quarters while Jay, Cole and (Y/n) will keep him busy,'' Zane replied.
''Oh, that's honourable of you to nominate us.'' The Earth Ninja told them.
''Yeah, we didn't fare so hot last time. Why is it you get off with the easy task?'' The Blabber Mouth asked.
''Because I'm the intelligent one,'' Zane answered, before disappearing below deck.
''Ah, let's take this guy,'' Jay said, and the three ran at Morro, the boys with weapons while (Y/n) had none. She planned to get close to him, use her powers and... what? It was a work in progress.
The two clashed swords, with Morro kicking Jay into a cannon and also Jay, while the Master of Illusion went to punch him, her fists ready to deliver the blow, the Master of Wind kicked her, making her land on the mast.
The three quickly got up, getting back at Morro with their weapons.
''Why am I steering the ship?'' Nya asked herself. ''There's a reason autopilot was invented.'' She then activated it, making a blowup but chubby Dareth appear and take the wheel.
Cole yelped as he was thrown, landing on the wooden part of the deck, getting up soon after while Jay watched.
''Oh, great.'' The Lightning Ninja said, seeing that Morro had the two blades in his hands.
A circular blade appeared, making the ghost warrior's spooky blades dissipate.
Morro fired green lightning at the Samurai Girl who dodged, making the lightning strike the controls. ''Oh, that's not good.'' She said as the inflatable Darreth deflated. Screaming as the Destiny's Bounty swerved on its side, the trio slid down the deck towards the ground, holding onto the side of the Bounty.
The Wind Master then disappeared below deck, leaving the others hanging.
''We'll crash if we don't stabilize the Bounty,'' Cole told the others, holding on tight.
''Ya think?'' (Y/n) asked, sighing.
Nya then hopped up, jumping onto the cannons and landing on the side of the steering wheel. She pulled on it, but nothing happened. ''Ugh. Come on, pull up. Pull up!''
The Bounty pulled into a dive, heading straight for a snow-capped mountain. The trio of boys and one girl were in the control room, looking ahead at what was in front of them.
''Ah! Are you aiming for that mountain?'' The Lightning Ninja asked, pointing at it.
''Trying to rise above it! Ugh, a little help?'' Nya asked, and the four helped. The Samurai Girl turned on the boosters, making the Bounty barely miss the mountain, while also hitting the hull on the way up.
Morro grabbed the staff as it fell, before flying back up to the Destiny's Bounty to retrieve one important person to him.
(Y/n) could feel herself getting stronger, and as she turned to the ghost warrior he faced her. She then turned and ran, jumping off the Bounty with the windy boi following.
Once he was close enough, she summoned her dragon and flew away from him, the Master of Wind stopping as he knew her plan; he was in her head, after all, he knew her better than anyone.
The girl's eyes widened as her dragon disappeared, and Morro swooped in like a knight in shining armour, without the fancy helmet and heavy armour.
Landing in his arms, she knew it would be more difficult to escape him this time.
---
The Wind Master landed his dragon in the Forest of Tranquility, far away from the other ninja and let (Y/n) go. The Master of Illusion looked at him, confused.
''You know I can disappear into the trees, right?'' (Y/n) asked. The Master of Wind nodded, holding the staff.
''You won't get that far,'' Morro replied.
''Well then, let's see.'' The girl challenged, turning and running away from him. The Master of Wind watched, before glancing at his imaginary watch on his wrist.
Morro then summoned his dragon, flying above the trees and looking for the girl, which wasn't difficult as he could see an orange outline of the girl.
His dragon dove towards her, picking up her if she hadn't rolled to the side, almost making him crash into a tree, but the dragon quickly turned and followed.
The wispy green-winged beast took a shortcut and appeared in front of the Master of Illusion.
Morro de-summoned his dragon. ''Boo.''
(Y/n) summoned her orange lightning, close to the Master of Wind who simply narrowed his eyes, making the sparks disappear.
''You thought you could outrun me?'' Morro asked, smirking beneath his mask. The girl scowled, making him chuckle.
''Yeah, maybe, but why do you want me?'' (Y/n) questioned.
''You're due for a proper explanation.''
---
The Master of Illusion put the logs in a ''tent'', surrounding it with rocks. Using her lightning, she sparked the fire, providing warmth to the two.
Morro put his hands near the flames, warming his cold fingers. He sat down on a log, the fire reflected in his dark green eyes.
''So what are you going to explain?'' The Master of Illusion asked. Morro nodded, throwing a twig into the fire.
The Master of Wind was silent, his gaze on the fire before him. He then spoke. ''How I got in your head and information like that.''
''Not very detailed, but go on.'' (Y/n) replied.
''Okay, let me explain. I was stuck in the cursed realm when I found a way out. The rules were if you were in the cursed realm you stay in the cursed realm.''
''I figured if I separated my conscience from the rest of me, I could roam freely, but be unable to interact with living beings.''
''When I was floating around Jamanakai I noticed the ninja- not including you, about to fly away on their dragons. The one you know as Cole picked up the scroll I was going to read, he was about to show the others when I used my powers to make the wind blow it away.''
''I followed them to the monastery and my former home and stayed quiet until your ''friend'' Kai found his true potential, while you were stuck on the Destiny's Bounty with nothing to do.''
''When Clouse opened the portal, only to be sucked in himself, I was so close to truly escaping, only to find that spot of mould entered my domain.''
''And when I finally and truly escaped, I set out my plans, possessed Lloyd and here we are now.'' He finished casually, making a leaf twirl above his finger in a mini-tornado.
The little snake appeared on (Y/n)'s shoulders, looking at the Master of Wind. ''Why are you so casual about it?''
Morro shrugged, and the Master of Illusion could hear talking in the distance. The Master of Wind seemed to not hear it, but he could, ignoring it so he could ask her one last question. ''Since I gave you an explanation, what about that time you disappeared? What happened?''
(Y/n) frowned, if she gave him the reason why she left, he'd question his existence and ask her too many questions.
The Master of Illusion stood up, with Morro watching her movements as she slowly walked away. He did not follow, instead, using the wind to extinguish the fire. Everything went dark, and she stumbled, tripping on a tree root.
Hearing the voices call out, she raised her head, using her great sense of hearing to listen.
''-Are you sure she's this way?'' Asked a voice, Kai's.
There was a yelp as someone tripped over and fell, and there was silence.
''I'm alright!'' Jay's voice called out.
''We did see Morro fly over here,'' Zane told the others.
''Forget about that ghost boy, where's (Y/n)? (Y/n)?!'' Cole shouted.
''I'm here!'' (Y/n) replied, shouting in return. She then got to her feet, and the others appeared, their faces filled with relief upon seeing the girl.
The boys surrounded her, asking questions. The girl put a hand to her head, wincing as her head throbbed in pain. Kai went to her side, concern on his face.
''Are you okay?'' The Fire Ninja questioned, putting a hand on her shoulder.
''What does it look like? Am I not holding the side of my head?'' (Y/n) asked, snapping at the Fire Ninja. Seeing the look on his face, she sighed. ''My apologies, I can't think with this pain-''
''It's... alright,'' Kai replied, and the group went back to the now damaged Destiny's Bounty.
While they walked, the ninja told her the story of Morro, how he met Sensei and how the old master had brought the younger Master of Wind's hopes up only for the Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu to not react to him.
''That ambition sounds a lot like....'' (Y/n) trailed off, looking at Kai with a smirk.
''Kai.'' Remo finished.
''No one's as vain as porcupine, No one's hair is as spiky as porcupine, No one's a hothead as much as porcupine-'' (Y/n) sang. ''Oh wait, that's terrible.''
---
After travelling through the terrain, Cole's walliper turned into a ghost, while they discovered the one weakness of ghosts: water.
They then followed the train tracks, to Stiix.
