The Ninja trained before Zane started to interrupt them. After freezing half of the training equipment, they looked at Zane, who seemed to be in his own world.

''This roof ain't big enough for the four of us,'' Kai said after slipping on the ice.

''Correction, this roof isn't big enough for him,'' Cole replied, looking at Zane.

''It's like he's in his own world,'' Jay said. ''I bet he can't even hear us!'' he raised his voice.

Zane threw his shuriken, before jumping up and spinning mid-air.

''Sensei, Zane's weird,'' Kai said.

''What is weird?'' Wu asked the Fire Ninja. ''Someone who is different, or someone who is different from you?''

Cole shook his head. ''No, Sensei, he's ''weird'' weird.'' Cole replied.

The ninja then remembered times where they saw Zane as weird.

Looking over at Zane, he bowed his head, only to be hit by the dummy.

''We like the guy, he's really smart, just... uh, a little off sometimes,'' Kai said.

''Zane is a brother, and brothers are often different, I should know.'' Wu said the last part quietly.

Hearing the doorbell ring, the ninja rushed out, with (Y/n) being helped along by Nya.

The Mailman stood next to his bag and sighed. ''Let's see...'' He dug into the bag. ''A letter from Jay's parents, Kai has a fan letter, (Y/n) has a letter from her sister... and oh, something from Cole's father.'' He gave the items to the ninja.

''What, no package?'' Cole asked. ''I'm expecting something from Creatures, Beasts and Beyond.''

The Mailman looked into his bag. ''Oh, nothing from...'' He found the package and gave it to Cole. ''Ah, here it is.''

''Hah, Rocky's gonna love this!'' Cole said with a smile, before running off.

(Y/n) opened her letter.

Dear Sister,

Wherever you are, I hope you're doing okay.

P.s, Mum made me write this

(Y/n) snorted and threw it away. ''Sisterly love.''

Looking over at Zane, she noticed he didn't get anything from the mail.

''Hey Zane, how come you never hear anything from your parents?'' Jay asked the Master of Ice.

Zane was quiet for a moment. ''I don't remember my parents, I've been an orphan all my life.'' He answered.

Jay and Kai looked at each other. ''You mean you've never had a home?'' Kai asked.

Zane shook his head.

''The monastery is your home now,'' Wu said.

Zane turned and walked away, with the others watching him.

Sitting at the table, the ninja ate.

''Oh, I love it when it's Zane's night to cook!'' Jay exclaimed.

(Y/n) grabbed (f/f) and stuffed it in her mouth. ''Mmm...''

''Hey, I didn't hear any complaints about my duck chowder last night,'' Cole said.

''That's because it glued our mouths shut,'' Kai replied, making (Y/n) stifle a laugh. ''You really thought Jay was speechless all throughout dinner?''

Jay crossed his arms. ''Yeah, please don't make that again.''

Zane walked in, wearing a pink apron. (Y/n) blushed at the sight of it and looked away. ''Dinner is served,'' Zane announced with a smile.

Everyone except (Y/n) and Zane laughed, clutching their stomachs. Zane looked confused. ''What's so funny?'' He asked.

''Zane!'' Nya exclaimed, giggling. ''You're wearing a... Even I wouldn't wear that.''

The Master of Ice walked to the head of the table, looking confused. '' You laugh because I take steps to ensure I am clean after cooking?'' He asked.

Kai laughed. ''No, we laugh because you came out wearing that ridiculous outfit.''

(Y/n) sighed, taking a bite of her food.

''I guess we don't share the same sense of humour,'' Zane replied.

''Well, how about this?'' Cole said, grabbing a plate of shrimps/prawns and throwing it in Kai's face. He laughed, and Kai looked at him, unamused. The others laughed again. ''How could you not find that funny?'' He asked Zane before Wu dumped a bowl of soup on him. ''Ah!'' He cried out in alarm.

Kai laughed at Cole's shocked expression. Wu put his hand on Zane's and Cole's shoulders. ''Now you are brothers.'' He winked at Zane.

The ninja started a food fight, with (Y/n) trying to catch the food in her mouth so Zane's great cooking wouldn't go to waste.

Some of the food ended up on Zane's apron, and he watched, a blank expression on his face.

(Y/n) was on her bed, drawing.

She drew home, with the willow tree near the cliff, the forest where she'd play hide n seek with her friends.

Shivering as some of the bad memories came back, (Y/n) drew stick figures of the ninja, using that as a basic structure.

Grabbing her eraser, she rubbed out the simple lines and slowly drew more complex ones over them.

Nya popped her head in, noticing (Y/n) drawing. She smiled, opening the door and letting it creak.

(Y/n) turned around, her pencil in hand. ''What do you need, Nya?'' She asked her best friend.

''Me and Wu are going to get the others, do you want to come?'' Nya replied.

''No, I should stay. The Monastery needs to be guarded.'' (Y/n) said, putting her drawing book away.

''Okay then,'' Nya said with a shrug, disappearing.

(Y/n) grabbed her drawing book and resumed drawing.

Sometime later, she had filled her whole page with drawings.

One with Jay and Nya together.

Zane with a bird on his shoulder. (Y/n) had no idea where that came from.

And then there were some other messy scribbles that made up the page.

Suddenly, (Y/n) smelled smoke.

Beginning to cough, she looked at the ceiling. Tendrils of grey smoke could be seen.

'How did this fire start?' She asked herself.

Flames burst, crackling to life and licking at the wood.

(Y/n) grabbed her sketchbook and pencil, as well as her eraser.

She crawled out of bed, a part of the ceiling collapsing on where she just was. Her eyes widened, and she crawled out of the room, doing her best to ignore the pain in her legs.

'Almost there.' She told herself, seeing the exit.

The Monastery began to collapse around her, the flames tenderly licking away at the wood.

She began to lose consciousness, the smoke in her lungs making her cough and wheeze for breath.

Faintly, she could see a blurred tall blue being tower over her, with red eyes. Before she could even think, her mind slipped away from conscience.

The Ninja saw smoke, and the monastery in ruins.

''We're too late,'' Kai said. ''Those snakes!''

The dragons roared, in distress. ''Rocky!'' Cole said, hopping down from Flame to free the dragons.

A page fluttered past, burning at the edges. It showed Nya and Jay together.

Kai looked at what remained of the monastery. ''Our home.''

Shard flew in, and Zane turned to his dragon. ''Shard, put this out.'' He ordered. Shard then used its icy breath to put the fires out.

Nya gasped, seeing a pile of wood cover someone. She ran forward, and Cole followed and helped her, pulling the burned wood off them.

(Y/n)'s face looked back at them, her (H/c) hair slightly burnt while her clothes with burn holes showed burns on her skin.

The others helped to pull the rest of the wood off her, and silence overtook the group.

''The training equipment. Gone.'' Zane spoke, looking around.

''Our video games, gone!'' Jay cried out, burying his face in Zane's shoulder.

''And (Y/n)...'' Nya whispered, looking at the girl.

''They stole their staff back,'' Wu said.

Cole looked at Wu. ''What do we do now?'' He asked. Rocky came, rubbing his muzzle against the Master of Earth. Cole petted him, trying to reassure his dragon friend.

Kai picked up a piece of wood, crushing it in his fist. He sighed. ''If you hadn't followed that silly bird, none of this would've happened!''

''Kai...'' Wu started but was interrupted by Jay.

''No, Sensei, he's right,'' Jay interrupted, walking up to Zane. ''Because of you, my high score has been deleted!''

''This is a teaching moment,'' Zane replied, looking at them. ''We must learn from this.''

Cole stomped up to Zane. ''A teaching moment? What's wrong with you? Don't you get it, everything is gone!'' He shouted.

''Enough!'' Wu shouted, stopping them. ''We are all at fault, Zane is your brother, apologise at once.''

Kai, Jay and Cole lowered their heads in guilt, before turning around only to find Zane gone.

And in the distance, a white and light blue dragon flew away.

The Ninja sat under a makeshift tent, near a campfire.

(Y/n) was awake, staring at the food on her stick in silence.

''What are we eating again?'' Kai asked.

Cole took a bite of his food. ''Mud newt, not bad for something that lives underground,'' Cole replied, though it seemed like he was lying to himself.

Jay was disgusted. ''What?'' He spat out the piece he was eating. He then threw a rock into a can. ''Yeah! A new high s-sc-score!''

''Remember, we must be thankful for what we still have.'' Wu reminded them.

''What do we have?'' Cole asked. ''Our home is gone.''

''You know, I don't miss our home. What I really miss is Zane.'' Kai admitted.

''Yeah. I miss Zane.'' Jay said.

''Zane?'' Nya said, looking into the distance.

''Yeah, Zane. You know. White Ninja. The smart, strange one.'' Jay replied.

''No.'' Nya pointed ahead. ''Zane!''

Upon seeing Zane, they ran to hug him, with Nya helping (Y/n) up.

The Ninja faced Zane, with smiles on their faces. Jay sighed in relief. ''Zane. We're so sorry for everything we've said. We're a team and that means we're all responsible.''

''You don't need to apologise to me,'' Zane replied.

''But what about all those awful things we said? Isn't that why you left?'' Kai asked.

''Of course not. I saw the Falcon again and I followed him.'' The Ice Ninja answered.

''That's our Zane,'' Cole said with a smile.

They all hugged Zane, grateful for his return.

''We're happy to have you back,'' Nya replied

''Why? Is it my turn to make dinner?'' Zane asked.

Everyone laughed, including (Y/n), who coughed between laughing. They backed away, giving Zane some space.

''Yes, Zane. We would love you to make dinner.'' Wu answered.

''But I already made it. Come. I want to show you what I've found. I think you will all be pleased.'' Zane replied with a smile.

The group followed Zane to the Sea of Sand, where Zane stopped.

''I can't explain it, but I feel a strange connection with the Falcon. I think he's trying to help show us the path we need to take.'' Zane told them, and they walked around the corner of a boulder to see a ship, stranded in the sand.

The others gasped. ''Our new home,'' Zane said.

''Do I smell pie?'' Jay asked.

''Cobbler berry. Oh, and I made myrtle berry and apple and—'' At the mention of this, the others ran to the ship, hungry. Cole picked up (Y/n) and ran with her in his arms to the Bounty.

The ninja sat at the table, having a food fight.

Hmmm

I don't know about the whole 'broken legs thing'

Maybe I can make it work out.
