Moving Day

Tomorrow was moving day. There, I said it. Happy? Anyways, tomorrow is the day we move to Kennedy, Minnesota. Apparently Dad needs to move there to help promote his companies new site. It will take two days to get there, at least according to Google. I'm not so happy because here in Las Vegas; it is so fun and exciting! Except for the occasional killing, it is all a 15 year old girl could want. Kennedy sounds cool, since it was named after John F. Kennedy, but other than that it just seems just plain old boring. I guess it would be cool to live on the border of America. I just finished texting Grace, since she won't be able to come. Maybe we could be pen pals and send letters the old fashioned way, since that isn't normal. "Come and finish helping your dad, Caroline!" Hollered Mom. Can't a girl just get some down time? "Do I have to, Mom?"
"Yes, darling!" Ugh, so much for trying to be optimistic. I headed downstairs and was met by lots of boxes. "Whoa! You guys have made some progress!" I said. "It was easier since you weren't poking me with a rake." my twin brother, Kan, remarked. "Well that's because you were taking my stuff out of the boxes!" I retorted.
"Well that's because you hid my iPhone in the bathroom!"
"Well that's because-"
"Enough!" my mother interrupted. "I hope you two leave all that energy here, because that won't be allowed in the car. If both of you quarrel in the car we will leave you at the next rest stop." Both Kan and I knew that mom was just teasing us. So I resumed packing boxes with Kan, and we finished the day with only 50 boxes left to pack. Mostly bathroom stuff, but there was also a few boxes for the kitchen. That night I dreamt that I was walking around in a sticky substance, and a very dim light, almost inconspicuous against the black veil of night, was guiding me towards something. What that was, I did not know. It was hard for me to keep from screaming, from fright or joy I do not know, but I managed. The luminous castle came into view slowly, like rendering the graphic of certain games. It was amazing how large it was! It was practically in the clouds, but something was off. I had a hard time figure out what it was, and then it hit me, literally. There was smoke coming out of the chimney, but it wasn't any old smoke, like what would come out of a pipe. It was more like ashes, but not quite as powdery. It was definitely breathable, at least for me, but the light was flickering, a lot, like someone turning off and on a flashlight, really, really fast. I wanted to run but I kept on falling down, since the substance that I assumed was ground, was very sticky. I felt scared, like a child against a pack of wolves, but then I realized it was just a dream, and I woke up. I heard footsteps, then a light came on across the hall. I checked the digital clock on my bookcase. 6:26. Kan must be up, reading or playing video games. I decided to get out of bed, and go across the hall to him. Just my luck, I stepped and squeaked a board so Kan could have heard me coming. So much for surprising him. I strolled on in, and Kan was, of course, why I didn't realize he was doing this, I do not know, was playing with Marmalade, our cat.
