The only thing Louis knows is that he's in some obscure city in some nowhere state. He knows that he's too old to be doing this shit anymore. He knows that he doesn't want to do this shit anymore. He loves singing, don't get him wrong, but being on tour isn't what it used to be. Aching bones, worn out voices, and trivial rivalry are the only things that this bus brings.
Louis sighs as he pulls the microphone to his lips again as he walks up and down the stage. Liam, Niall, and Zayn are somewhere else together.
The crowd is big for somewhere in nowhere-vile. Louis thinks that he's in some sort of midwest state... like Minnesota or Iowa or something. He should've asked Niall before the show, but it slipped his mind.
"Alright, let's check out some of these posters, eh," Liam cheers from across the stage. Louis turns and lets out a fake laugh as if he agreeing with Liam's statement. Honestly, the only thing that he wants to do is get back to the bus and sleep.
Louis turns and sees Liam on the big screens on either sides of the stage. When they started this tour again, everyone made sure that the stage was set up the same way it was back when they did their On The Road tour the first go around. The only thing that would change where the boys themselves.
"This one's cool... 'What's one thing you wished you could tell your past self?' I don't know lads, what do you think," Liam reads.
The only other thing that's changed is the signs. Before, fans would write witty jokes or cute messages. Now, they write questions that the boys should answer. The trend started at their first stop when Liam read a sign with a question and all the boys answered it. Now, everyone wants their fifteen seconds of fame.
"Be yourself. I was so scared of who I was that I bullied other people in my life for sharing the same qualities. I wish I'd come to terms with who I was earlier," Zayn answers. Louis knows that Zayn's talking about him. From across the stage, Zayn sends a smile towards Louis which Louis happily returns.
"I'd probably tell myself to look out for my friends more," Niall says. Louis prepares his answer because he knows that he won't be getting out of it.
What would he like to tell his past self? What would he like to tell his past self that he could say in front of this many people?
"Stop drinking. Some of the worst things I've ever done has happened because I was drunk. Drink responsibly kids," Liam cheers. He makes his answer sound more up-beat, but the boys know how serious his answer is.
Suddenly, it feels as though every eye in the stadium is on Louis. He hasn't even been thinking about his answer. Shit.
"Talk more."
Communication is where most of Louis' relationships have failed. He's learned that over the years, but hasn't found anyone who he truly wants to communicate with. There's nobody who makes Louis want to put in the effort that a relationship requires.
"How many kids do you have and what are their names," Niall reads. Louis isn't surprised that Niall's the one to read off the card about family. Niall has the cutest family out of the bunch of them.
"Well, I've got Bear who's 24," Liam answers. Louis' shocked by Liam's answer. He thought that Bear was only 18. Louis figures that time flies when you don't give a shit.
The attention is turned to Niall who happily cheers as he answers. "My wife, Abby, and I have three beautiful children. Our oldest is Evelyn followed by Emma and Eva at the end." Evelyn and Addison are best friends. They have spats quite frequently, but they always end up coming back to each other eventually. Parker can't stand Emma or Eva and the two girls, along with Jo, have made it their life's missions to torment Parker.
"No kids for me," Zayn answers casually.
"I've got Addison and the twins: Parker and Jo."
"I think we have time for one more before our next song," Liam cheers. Louis watches as Liam walks around the stage. To make everything even more dramatic, the man covers his eyes and wildly points at a sign. Without any pre-reading, he reads the sign off.
"What happened to Ha-"
Everyone goes silent. It feels as if the stadium itself is holding in it's breath.
Slowly, Louis walks towards the stage's exit. His mind tells him that if he stays there any longer than he'll die.
Once he's off right off stage, he sits on the floor. His knees and hips protest, but he silences them as he slides to the floor.
Harry. God he wishes he could get over him. Louis wishes that one day, he'll wake up and forget that the boy ever existed. He wishes that he stayed with Eleanor and never messed around with his sexuality to being with. It's not to be messed with. He shouldn't have. He should've have let Harry mess him up. He was happy. Before Harry came around, Louis was happy with Eleanor and his life. He could've gotten married to Eleanor and had kids and it wouldn't have been a problem.
I'll always love you.
God, Louis was stupid. Why did he promise that? Why did he promise Harry and himself that he'll always love Harry? It's as if he's spoke the promise into existence. If he hadn't have said that, then maybe Louis would've gotten over Harry. Maybe he would be with someone else. Obviously, Harry moved on fine.
