CHAPTER EIGHT- THE TALK

And the new president of the United States is...

" Wake up!" Someone shouts in my ear. It was a man's voice and sounded quite familiar.

"Go away! It is being announced that who'll be the next president of USA," I say, still half asleep. I turn my back to the person, trying to ignore him and invite sleep with my open arms.

" I am sure it will turn into a nightmare."

"Why?" I ask.

"Because Donald Trump will win."

"Don't speak of the evil with the name of Devil." I face towards the man and slowly open my eyes but it was quite difficult to do it because of all the light in the room. I decide to open one of my eye and keep the other one closed. I see Noah standing before me. The edge of his lips are curved into a smirk.

"Get downstairs in ten minutes, mom wants to talk to us," Noah speaks leaving the room and closes the door behind him.Oh no. I am not at all in a mood for a talk.

After procrastinating for a little more time I go downstairs. My mom, dad and Noah were all sitting in the living room. Mom and dad had occupied one couch while, now was sitting on the one adjacent to it. I go and sit beside Noah. He seemed all calm and cool, unlike me.I take in a deep breath and brace myself for another family meeting.

"Do you remember Kash?" Mom asks Noah and me. I slightly nodded reminiscing the time we have had spent together in our childhood, while Noah had an expression like- wait, who?, plastered all over his face. He really has bad recalling skills. Well, Kash was the son of my mother's best friend, Alicia. His father died of cancer when he was quite young. We were of same age and have had been diaper buddies too. However, we became distant as we grew up.

"The son of Alicia, my best friend. You used to be good friends when you all were kids," mom reminds him and continued to speak in a small voice. " Well...the thing is... Alicia met a car accident and died. Kash has nowhere to go now. Until he turns eighteen he couldn't live alone."  I gasped hearing this. His mother was the only person he had left in life. He would be greatly broken.

She held back a tear and resumed," Your  dad and I have decided that Kash will be staying with us from tomorrow until he turns eighteen. And he would be staying in the guest room on the first floor and I want that room to be ready for him by next morning."
