Chapter 12-Agent Alice
A/N:
Paalala lang po.
I don't speak French :)
Though I like languages.
Iyan po ang reason why I have all these French translations in the story.
Kung mali man po ang translation, contact Google :)
Tulad po ng lagi kong sinasabi, I write for fun.
Enjoy na lang po natin.
xoxo

When shooting resumed, the atmosphere was more relaxed not only for Eugenie but also for the rest of us.
During the table read, doon ko napatunayan na she really has a flair for comedy.
Sa delivery pa lang ng lines, nakakatawa na especially when she says the word yes in French.
Pati tuloy ang mga staff, nahawa na sa kanya.
Instead of saying yes, they used the word oui.
I find it good actually.
Baka kahit sa ganoong paraan eh magkaroon ng instant recall sa isip ng mga moviegoers ang Agent Alice.
I wasn't wrong in my assumptions.
When Eugenie guested in Sole's show, pati ang mga hosts, ginaya din siya.
Everytime she mentioned Agent Alice, they said oui all together.
A few minutes after her guesting was aired, ang daming memes and GIFS na lumabas.
OUI ang nakalagay below whatever concept the netizen thought of posting.
As the weeks wore on, I also noticed something different with Eugenie—she looked happy.
Kung during the start of the shoot eh ilag sa kanya ang mga staff dahil sa akala nila eh suplada ito, a few days after the interview with Sole, lagi siyang nakangiti.
I took particular attention because I know how the mood of the stars affects everything.
Since she's happy, all is well and good.
Smooth sailing ang shoot, nakakatake one na din siya and she doesn't argue with me like she usually does.
But what if something goes wrong?
It didn't take long for me to find out.
Neri invited me for lunch one time.
She revealed the reason why Eugenie was walking on cloud nine lately.
"She's been going out with Sole." She told me while sprinkling a generous amount of black pepper on the clam chowder soup.
"Are you sure?"
"Oo." She took out her phone.
There were pictures of Eugenie and Sole sitting across from each other at a coffee shop.
There was nothing revealing about the picture.
But if you look closely, they were looking straight at each other as if nothing mattered.
There were also the knowing smiles.
Well, I know Sole's because she used to smile at me that way.
"No wonder she looked radiant." I sliced a small piece of steak before I shoved it in my mouth.
"Kaya nga. There are rumors na nagkakamabutihan nga daw ang dalawa which I think is fine. They're both single and mukhang magkasundo naman silang dalawa sabi ng mga close sa kanila."
"I agree." I said in between bites.
"Sana lang Sole doesn't mess this up. Kilala mo naman iyon."
Neri's optimism was clouded by what I said.
She knew I have a point.
I dated Sole for years and was privy to things na hindi alam ng publiko.
Masaya ako na she's moving on.
But my first priority is the completion of Agent Alice.
As long as her closeness with Eugenie doesn't disrupt the making of the movie, I'm all for it.
But two days after that lunch with Neri, daig ko pa si Nostradamus with my prophecy.
Dumating sa set si Eugenie na mainit ang ulo.
Her personal assistants were walking six feet behind her.
Sa mukha nila, they looked as if they didn't want to touch her with a nine-foot pole.
Kinabahan ako bigla.
What on earth happened now?
I was tempted to text Neri but I overheard one of the staff commenting that Eugenie and Sole must have fought.
"Kaya siguro mainit ang ulo ng lola." Added the staff.
Great!
The timing was just perfect.
We were about to shoot a scene that involves Eugenie hanging from a metal beam and trying not to die.
Fuck it!
I have to act fast.
She was sitting on a corner of the room furiously typing on her phone when I found her.
I could see smoke coming out of her ears.
Her eyebrows were so close together they looked like dueling waves.
"Can I talk to you for a sec?"
"Oui." She answered and followed me to the unoccupied set we used as the agency captain's office.
I gently closed the door and pointed towards a chair.
I pulled the one across from her and sat.
"What's wrong?" Diniretso ko na.
We are already behind schedule dahil late siyang dumating.
It was out of the blue.
Eugenie was usually early for the shoot.
That was one indication that something was going on.
"Nothing." Her lips were thin lines of anger.
Up close, her hair was disheveled.
Mukhang tinali na lang ng basta-basta that's why there were curls falling from whichever direction.
"Eugenie, I don't care about your personal life." I started.
"But if it interferes with work, then I have to step in."
She bit her lower lip, nostrils flared.
Uh oh.
This is not a good sign.
I braced myself for what was to come next.
"How do you do it?"
"How do I do what?" I asked, puzzled.
"Cette femme est une garce." She threw her phone across the tiny office.
It landed on the prop couch.
Eugenie briskly rubbed her nose in annoyance.
"I don't speak French."
"Good." She raised her palm.
"I cannot help you if you are speaking in a language I cannot understand." I said, softly.
The redness of her face and the forceful way she was waving her hand were enough to let me know that I have a very angry woman in front of me.
"She got mad." Her knuckles turned white as she gripped the armrest tight.
"Who did?"
"Sole."
Ah.
"Why was she mad?"
"Because I was out partying with my friends and I forgot to tell her."
"You forgot? Or you didn't tell her?"
Eugenie was silent.
"Who's side are you on?"
"I'm not on anyone's side." I have to take the spotlight away from me and back to her.
"But if you want me to understand what happened, you can't just give me bits and pieces of the story."
"Le directeur." She said in disdain.
"That one I understand."
"How do you do it?"
"Be a director?" I am so confused.
"Non." She dismissed with a wave of her hand.
"Sole. How do you deal with her?" She raised her voice.
Crap!
The spotlight is back on me again.
"Did. Past tense." I replied.
"Past...present. Je m'en fous. How did you deal with her when you were together?"
I guess there's no way out of this.
Eugenie clearly cared for Sole otherwise she wouldn't be this mad at her or herself.
"Well, I usually tell her if I'm going to a party not because I need her permission to go but because I know she worries if I stay up too late."
That shut her up.
"You didn't tell her about the party because you think she won't let you go?"
More tight-lipped response.
"Do you like her?"
She nodded.
"Then you should talk to her so you can learn more."
"I should apologize. Je suis une garce." Eugenie stood up and pick up the phone from the couch.
I have no idea what she just said.
"You do that." I stood up to give her the privacy she needed.
On my way back to the set, I totally get why Eugenie was upset.
Sole is very controlling.
But I'm not going to tell her that.
She has to figure things out on her own.
Besides, I don't want Sole to go after me just because I said something negative about her.
When we were together, I learned things as we go.
It wasn't easy not just for me but for Sole as well.
Hindi naman ako perfect.
I have a feeling that as long as they are seeing each other, I'll be putting on my therapist hat more often.
