A/N This week's Tardigrade assignment challenged us to write something you'd normally never write. To write something from a very different perspective: a monologue of the first thing you find in your fridge. Enjoy!

My life is the best!

For as long as I can remember, I have lived in this huge white house, right at the top of it. I can see –

*********

– everything! Right below me, there's Broccoli and Carrot and Spinach. Further down there's Cheese and Butter – great guy – and their friends.

Then there's this –

*********

– guy down at the bottom, who doesn't seem to like me. His name is Salami I think, and he always glares at me. But that's okay, because I know he won't stay forever. This is my home, after all. They all leave eventually. I'm the –

*********

– only one who always stays, because it's my job.

That's right, I have a very important job here at my house. Not only do I have to watch over all the others who stay over in my house, but I also need to illuminate them at all times. Because they are the lucky ones. They get chosen to go outside!

What I wouldn't give –

*********

– to go outside sometime. I've never seen anything but the inside of my home. I get glimpses, of course, past the large things that always reach into my home to Choose one of the others for this highest honour of going outside. But I never see much, it's mostly just white wall, just like the inside of my house. Maybe the things that Choose live in a bigger version of my house.

Strange creatures, they are. They always –

*********

– reach in to Choose something, swinging the door shut only to imme-

*********

-diately open it again. And the weirdest part: somehow they've made whoever they've Chosen disappear! Poof, gone. Like magic. There it is again, they've just chosen Lettuce, and now they're closing the door and –

*********

– poof! Lettuce is gone, vanished! It's okay though, he must've just gone back to his own home. They don't want to stay in my boring old house forever. Oh look, it seems they've chosen Burger now. He gets to go home, too. Bye, Burger! Thanks for staying with me! See you next time!

A/N Well that was a lot of fun to write. xD I don't know if anyone understood what was happening here, but this story was written from the perspective of the lamp inside the fridge. Since it goes out when you close the door, it's as if the lamp is asleep, so it only becomes conscious again when you open the door again. Right? Right. Anway, thanks for sticking with me through this story! xD
