Chapter 9

                                                                                    Chapter 9

It had been only been a day or so since (your name) had come to Roderick's house. She had settled in ok even though she had to share her room with Lutz; whom she made sleep on the floor. He had complained at first, but after making it very clear she wasn't going to budge on the subject he let it go and made a small cot for himself to sleep on.

Though it was uncomfortable the German didn't seem to mind. He had known from the start that (your name) wasn't going to let him sleep in the bed with her. So he just let it go and tried to move on and take each day as it came. He did his thing while she did hers and every now and again sometimes the two even had small conversations. However, (your name) still refused to answer anything he asked her directly, but Lutz took it in stride and tried to be good a sport taking his vengeance in small ways by messing with her here and there. And just when he felt like giving up one of said small acts sometimes lead to a small smile from (your name) and at times even a small laugh. She is so beautiful when she smiles he thought "her entire face just lights up like a Christmas tree'.

He adored those moments most of all when her (eye color) eyes would shine like the stars and her face would give off a small glow, as the song of her laughter left her (color) lips. It was those small moments that made his situation worth it and encouraged Lutz to keep trying to break down the wall (your name ) had built around herself. And as it stood now Lutz would have given anything to be able see her smile all the time, it just made all his worries disappear and if he ever needed that it was now.

The war effort was failing his resolve was crumbling around him and the allies were at his door and here he was dealing with Roderick for hours on end decorating for brother's annual Christmas ball! To put it simply Lutz was tired and beyond irritable. He simply wanted to lie down and go to sleep. So naturally Lutz returned to his room to rest only to find (your name) sitting on the small window seat staring out on the snow covered garden below. A small frown adorning her (lip color?) lips as she stared lost in thought. "Katzchen?" he asked concern lacing his words as he walked over to where she sat.

"Hmm?" she asked looking at him "Oh it's you."

"Well don't sound so happy about it." he pouted as he sat across from her.

"It's not like that. I'm just ... not feeling so swift." she replied.

"What's wrong?" he asked "you're not getting sick are you?"

"Nothing like that" she replied a sad smile gracing her features " well not physical sick anyway " she sighed " I guess I'm just a little home sick."

"Oh well don't worry Katzchen we'll be going back to Berlin soon" he replied hoping that might brighten the girl's spirits. It didn't.

"That's good." replied ( your name) pulling her knees to her chest bringing her head to rest on her knees as she once again looked down upon the garden bringing a small frown to the German's face as he looked at her. 'She didn't really sound happy about going back to Berlin.....' he thought as he looked at the girl when he noticed a pair of dog tags in her right hand.

"Whose are those?" he asked a small twinge of jealousy dripping like venom off his tongue as he waited for ( your name) to once again speak of her all too infamous boy friend back in America.

"Hmm?" she asked looking back at him "whose are what?"

"Those dog tags" he replied

"Oh....no one important" she replied looking away sadly producing a small spark of rage within the German. He had had just about enough of her round about way of talking. How she never answered him directly and often ignored him! He had hoped she would simply talk to him on her own, but she never would. So, he decided that he would demand she answer him!

"Why do you always do that?" he asked.

"Do what?" she asked confused.

"Shut me out!" he exclaimed "No matter what I say to you. You just yell at me! Tell me to go away! Or say don't worry about it! Why can't you give just a straight answer for once?!"

"Because I don't want to." she replied.

"Why not?!" he demanded

"Because you're a Jerk!" exclaimed (your name) not appreciating his tone. "You yell at me! You make me clean your house! You won't even let me have my coin back! And most of all you can't even understand that I want to be with my family on Christmas and not a jerky butt face like you!" she exclaimed barging out the room and running down the hall.

"Whoa there fraulein where's the fire?" asked Gilbert as (your name) ran past him

"Just leave me alone!" exclaimed (your name) as she ran out the door.

"What wrong with her?" asked Gilbert looking at his younger brother.

"I don't know!" He exclaimed " I may have raised my voice a bit but all I did was asked her what's wrong and she said she was homesick! So, I told her we'll be going back to Berlin soon so she doesn't have to worry about it! then she says that's great but she still looks upset then I asked her about the dog tags she had and when she said they weren't important like everything else I may have raised my voice a bit more and I asked her why she never gave me straight answer then she yelled at me and said that I was a jerk and then she said some other things. Then I said some things and she got mad and left! But I don't see what I said that was so wrong!"

"Because you're an idiot! She doesn't miss our home dummkoph! She misses her family and friends back in America not here!" exclaimed the Prussian.

"I-I hadn't thought of that.." murmured Lutz looking at the ground

"What appears to be the problem over here?" asked Elizabeta coming to see what all the yelling was about.

"Lutz upset (your name) again" sighed Gilbert "And she ran away.... again."

"Again?" she asked

"Yeah she did this once before when Lutz yelled at her the first day she stayed with us." replied Gilbert

"Why did you yell at her?" she asked curiously but seeing there was no reply she looked to the tall german and asked "Well?"

"She was crying" he replied "I didn't know what to do so I told her what you all told me to do when I used to cry."

"Lutz! You can't do that to a lady!" exclaimed Roderick "You have to be gentle with them!"

"I know that now!" he shot back "and don't even pretend you know about frauleins!" exclaimed Lutz glaring at the new comer.

"Well obviously I know more than you do~" retorted the Austrian wrapping an arm around Elizabeta to prove his point.

"Shut up." muttered Lutz stalking off towards where (your name) had run off.

"Always the hot head.~" hummed Roderick with a smirk as he watched his younger brother leave. "How long do you think it'll take them to get together?"

"I give it a week" replied Gilbert.

"I give it till Christmas" replied Roderick

"I don't care how long it takes as long as you two don't mettle in their love lives" stated Elizabeta shooting a look at Gilbert and Roderick.

"Aww but liebe" pouted Roderick " Luther doesn't have any lady skills he need my help!"

"He's better than you think he is" replied Elizabeta crossing her arms.

"Alright Liebe but can we at least teach him a few tricks?" asked Roderick sticking out his bottom lip.

"Are you going to do it whether I say yes or no?" she asked with a sigh

"Probably~" he grinned

"Alright" she sighed with a small smile " but don't go too far ok?"

"You got it liebe!" he exclaimed giving her a quick peck as he ran off a large grin spread across his face.
