Rory's POV
I woke up screaming.
Images flashed through my head.
A dead body, a cold smile pasted on the face of the murderer.
Solange.
That's what her name was. She had murdered the dwarf. Thrown icicles into her chest. I remembered standing over the body, not being able to do anything.
Not exactly remembered. But somehow I knew what I had seen had actually happened.
I sat there, shaking.
I felt someone's arms wrap around me and melted into the embrace. I closed my eyes and leaned against Chase's chest, regaining my breaths.
I couldn't believe it. The image kept replaying. Solange's smile as she watched the girl slowly die. How could anyone be so cruel?
Finally, my breathing slowed and I opened my eyes. "What's wrong?"
"N- nothing. Just a bad dream." I replied.
He didn't let go though. We sat there as he held me, a horrible feeling building up.
BACK AT EAS
There was a knock at the director's office.
"Come in." Mildred said.
Then stepped in the last person she was expecting.
"Maggie. This is... unexpected."
"Where's Rory?" She sounded really worried.
"She's... missing."
"WHAT?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE'S MISSING?!" Maggie started panicking.
"She's gone." The director said simply. She wouldn't go into detail, because that usually made parents freak. Especially if they found their daughter was captured by the snow queen.
"She WHAT?!"
Maggie was freaking out by now. Not only had her daughter gone back to EAS when she had specifically said she can't, but now she had gone missing, and the director wouldn't even give her any details.
Simply saying 'she's gone', wouldn't make her feel any better. Her daughter was missing.
The director didn't look like she was gonna say anything else, so Maggie turned and huffed out the door, annoyed and worried.
But Rory always returned. Didn't she?
Lena's POV
We decided to set up camp farther away once I saw Ripper.
I can't really say I helped though. I recited the spell for an igloo, but other than that I didn't do much at all.
I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Ripper had the book. If Rory and Chase really were there before, and were gone now, then Solange must've wiped their memories somehow.
I hadn't got it before, why Mia would be poking around in my workshop. But it made sense now. Solange couldn't get Rid of Rory, because that would ruin her tale, which would ruin whatever Solange had planned. The only other option had been to lure her to the palace so she could preform a memory wiping spell.
It's too far fetched. I thought. Solange wouldn't do that. She probably never even thought of it. Besides, where would they be if their memories were gone?
Yeah, that wasn't it. Your overthinking it. I told myself.
But still, I couldn't stop the horrible feeling building up.
