"It was traumatizing!" C insists as I continue to laugh at her. At the Prima competition over the weekend, the judges had once again read the team scores out of order putting the Primas at second place before they realized their mistake. Of course C's team took first, but I can imagine the look they would have gotten from their instructor if they took anything other than first.
"You're so dramatic C," I joke as she relives her anxiety filled experience.
"I don't like you," she pouts, turning away from me. I lean over and kiss her on the cheek.
"Better?" I ask.
"Much," she responds, pulling out her sandwich.
"So how was class," she asks.
"Usual. Park is having us mentor a freshman, I got some kid named Zach," I tell her, "How was dance?" Carly scoffs.
"It's Ms. Helsweel. Now that is a truly traumatizing experience," she says. I nod in agreement. I'm about to take a bite of my own sandwich when I catch a glimpse of someone approaching us over C's shoulder, causing me to freeze.
"Great. This guy again," I mumble under my breath. C turns around to see who I'm referring to, but quickly jerks back again.
"Tell me that's not Austin," she whispers to me. I'm about to open my mouth to reply when he appears beside our table.
"Ah. Carly and Miles. Beauty and the Beast if you will," he says with a self satisfied smirk.
"Oh come on Austin, C isn't that terrible to look at," I reply, causing C to shoot me a quick glare.
"Tsk, tsk. I thought you said you wanted a man who treats you with respect? Remember, when you broke up with me? Instead you have a boy who treats you like this," Austin says to C. I'm immediately on edge when he mentions a break up. Calm down. Don't go there Miles. My girlfriend glares at him hard.
"Miles has more respect in his middle finger then you have in your entire body," C sneers. Atta girl. Austin however, has the audacity to smirk at my girlfriend.
"Whatever you say suds, see ya in class," I replies. C frowns.
"We don't have classes together," She retorts.
"Dude, step off," I add.
"Woah there pretty boy, no need to get jealous now, remember what happened last time?" Austin says. It's my turn to glare at him now. Austin smirks yet again before turning back to C.
"Haven't you heard? I'm doing a film study on your little dance group. The Primas right? See you there," he says with a wink before sauntering off.
"I hate that boy, so much," C seeths.
"And yet you dated him?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"I was a naive freshman," she defends, "and besides. Apparently you two have a history too."
"Yeah well. The guy did try to steal my girlfriend freshman year," I tell her.
"You mean the same year he was dating me?" C asks dryly.
"Man I hate that guy," I say, putting the pieces together.
"How could he possibly have gotten another film study on the dance program? I didn't even know he still went here," C says.
"I know. Especially after the whole episode with Kit and Denzel," I agree.
"Wait, what happened with Kit? Isn't she Jax's girlfriend?" C asks. I nod.
"Freshmen year when Denzel was doing his music video, Austin got mad and shoved Kit. Then Denzel got mad and shoved Austin and he hit his head and blacked out," I tell her. C shudders.
"I'm glad I dumped his sorry ass," she mutters.
"So what happened there?" I ask, trying not to sound too interested.
"Way to be subtle Lennox," C replies. I grin guiltily and shrug.
"Don't wanna make the same mistakes," I tell her. C rolls her eyes, but laughs.
"Basically he wanted a low key friends with benefits kind of thing," she responds.
"That little-"
"It's fine Miles. I broke up with him didn't I?" C says.
"It doesn't excuse-"
"But now I have you," C says cutting me off again and leaning over to kiss me.
"I'm gonna kill him," I state as soon as she pulls away.
"Miles no!" She argues, pulling me back into the bench.
"Why are you defending him?" I ask, frustrated. This feels like Julie all over again.
"Believe me Miles, I'm all for never seeing Austin again, but you are not getting suspended," C replies. I relax. Never mind, C is different then Julie. Better.

So the title of the book is not an allusion to any impending drama, it's actually in reference to C and V's duets from seasons one and two, Secrets Can Haunt, and Seasons Of Keaton.
