While you ponder the idea of how to get the fan down you start to imagine a plan.  What if you went next door and go your neighbor Benny, this little guy who works as a repairman, and got him up on your shoulders.  Then, using something like scissors or something, cut the rope attached to the key.  It seemed like a decent plan, but then you remembered that that would be extremely difficult.  Not only that, but you don't have any scissors, and Benny really doesn't like you after the incident.

How in the world can you get that key.  It's just out of your grasp.  Why did they put the fan in a place so high up?  Why make it to where you can't even use it?  It just seems like a silly little mistake on the building plans.  Secondly, how did you get the keys up there in the first place?  Surely you would have remembered how you did it, if you did.  Why would you do this to yourself?

Maybe you should invest in a step stool, or maybe a ladder.  Then at least you could reach the fan.  Maybe something in this office could help...?
