Chapter 10

Sarah peeked out of the bathroom, into the dimly lit bedroom. A few candles on the nightstand by the bed provided enough light to see that Loki was not laying in bed.

The God of Mischief wasn't even in the room.

Quickly, she slipped into the cool bedroom and sighed; the comforting scent that surrounded her was like laying next to the Prince. She wandered over the bed, leaning slightly against the bed post.

The covers were neatly done, no sign that anyone had even sat on them, meaning he must've used magic. However, when Sarah looked to the other nightstand she found Loki's helmet and some of the heavier bits of his armour.

He must not have gone far if he didn't wear his armour.

Getting more and more curious, the brunette made her way over to the door and opened it, peering into the hallway. Warm air touched her skin, making her knee-high dress swish and closed the door behind her. This was the first she had been outside of the room in over two weeks. Loki had told her to stay in the saftey of his bedroom, for it was not safe throughout the rest of the tower.

'Don't leave the room without his company.' Warned a tiny voice in her head, but Sarah pushed it away. She was too curious.

The only way to go was right, so she cautiously crept forward, making sure she didnct make a sound. There were room scattered throughout the halls and Sarah pressed her ear to most of them, trying to hear what was going on behind the closed doors. However, the sound of the piping was too loud.

After Loki had captured New York, the Avengers had fled across the country and Avengers Tower lost half of it's power. The midgardian slaves were not knowledgeable in maintaining the tower, so now less than half the power in the tower was working.

Sarah sighed, carefully creeping around a corner. A door at the end of the hall, a door stood open. The door looked as if it was made out of the same material as the other, but it had been decorated with red paint. Swirls and spirals thinned out as they grew from the bottom of the door, making for an eyecatching design. With curiousity, the brunette approached the door in which she had never noticed before. She was sure Loki had taken her down the hall before. Why hadn't she noticed such an ornate door?

Suddenly, a female's scream peirced the air and not too long after, a male's voice shouting,

"JANE!!!"

Sarah ran through the door to come across a horrific scene.

Loki had his fingers wrapped around a woman's throat, pinning her to the floor. A dirty-blonde man was bound by unseen forces at the other end of the majestic room. Blood was splattered in the middle of the room but Sarah couldnct tell who it was from. All three of the figures had some kind of wound; Loki had another gash on his calf, the woman had cuts and bloody bruises all over her body, the man had a gash on his temple. The man strugled against his restraints attempting to hold out a hand, but failing. He was reaching across the room from Sarah where a hammer layed.

Suddenly Sarah knew who the man was.

Thor.

Almost as if Thor heard Sarah think his name, he looked over at the doorway where she stood and his eyes widened.

"DON'T COME IN HERE!! SPARE YOURSELF!!" The Asgardian cried, earning Loki's attention.

"Oh dear brother..." The trickster snarled, "...always trying to be the hero..."

Loki then flicked his hand in the direction of the door without looking and suddenly Sarah felt smoldering hot iron binding her; however when she looked down, there was nothing. Still, she could not move. Before she could shut her mouth, a cry of pain passed her lips and she fell to her knees. Yet Loki still paid her no attention. He still remained ignorant of who he was harming.

Tears threatened to spill as the binding seemed to dig into her skin- like a snake trying to squeeze its prey to death- but Sarah refused to give in to her tears.

"Loki-" She choked out, but the Prince did not hear, "-Loki... Please-"

Thor looked from the brunette to his brother- who continued to look through Jane's memories. Finally, Loki had enough and he lifted himself from the ground and turned to face Thor. Another cry escaped Sarah's sore throat and she trembled with fear. This time, Loki turned-annoyed as hell- to tell off what he thought was a worthless midgardian servant. The tears finally won the battle and spilled onto Sarahcs cheeks as she looked up just in time to see Loki's horrified face.

The God of Mischief waved his hand, sending relief throughout Sarah's body as the invisible binding were released.

And then...

                                                ...all turned black.

.

Loki slid forward to catch Sarah before she fell forward , capturing her in his arms. Her deep red dress pooled around her legs and onto his lap, exposing a large portion of her thigh. Quickly, Loki smoothed her dress, picking her up and turning quickly to face Thor once more.

"You have no idea who she is..." Loki growled, his features pained, "... Do you?"

With that, he turned on his heel- weakly for that matter, the gash on his calf was deep- and disappeared into the hall; closing and locking the door with magic bahind him. A ragged sigh escaped the raven-haired Prince's lips as he made his way back to his room.

What had he done?

Why had he done it?

Could that really had been him that had done such a thing?

"I'm...

                      ....so sorry....

                                                      ....I'm....

                                                                                a monster..."
