"It's been so long and you have found nothing about the killer yet?" Chief Bang said. The members shook their heads.

"Chief, we went to the crime scene of the kill yesterday, it was too late so we went back home and today we had to discuss whatever information we had gathered," Hoseok said.

"You guys went home just because it was past your office time?!" the Chief snapped.

"Chief, our shift was finished and it is a rule that says that officers should leave the precinct when their shifts get ov--" Jin was stopped by the Chief standing up angrily, making his chair fall back with a crash that made Jin flinch.

"There is a KILLER ON THE LOOSE AND YOU GUYS WORRY ABOUT THE RULES?!"

"We are very sorr--" This time Jungkook was cut off by the Chief.

"Save your sorries," the Chief said, looking at Jungkook who was bowing. Jungkook stood up straight but kept his head bowed just like the others.

"Namjoon-ah, I had big expectations," the Chief continued. Namjoon's eyes widened when the chief softened his tone. The chief then sat back down and sighed.

"I am so sorry, boys. It's just... It's very scary thinking that I might be the next one on the killer's list. I have been living on edge. Even a little shift in the shadows terrifies me. I can't even take my kids to the park because I'm worried. I don't want my kids to witness my death," the Chief said and from his voice, the six men knew that he was close to crying.

"Please, I beg you. You boys are some of the best police officers in Korea. Please don't make me bow my head in front of other Chiefs. Please don't make me regret ever talking highly of you in that meeting," he finished with his hands joined together. The men gasped at their Chief begging them.

Namjoon felt even more shame fill in his body as the Chief was older than him and he was begging them. He felt ashamed and embarrassed. If his parents were to see a man older than him begging him, they would shake their heads and probably guilt themselves into thinking that they had done something wrong in raising him.

"I didn't expect the Chief to apologize," Taehyung said as they made their way back to their office.

"Now I feel very bad for sleeping peacefully last night," Jungkook pouted and the others hummed.

"Joon-ah, you--" Jin stopped himself when he saw Namjoon walking towards the planning room. He turned around and the others knew that he was in a determined, leading mindset.

"Let's discuss what we all gathered at the crime scene yesterday.," Namjoon said and the others agreed. They all entered the planning room and sat themselves down around a table. They opened their notebooks and Namjoon told Jungkook and Yoongi to go first.

"Yesterday, me and Yoongi-hyung searched the backdoor. When we opened the door, we saw that the lock was broken. We concluded that the lock was fine before and it was broken on the day of the murder." Namjoon nodded his head.

"We contacted the forensics at the same time and they said that the forensics report was done but no one from the police came to take them so we decided to go today to get the reports," Yoongi continued.

"That's nice. Anything else?" Namjoon asked.

"Yes, when we entered the backdoor, we saw a camera there but when we asked the security guard for more information on it, he said that the camera was broken. There was nothing else," Jungkook said and Namjoon nodded.

"Okay, Jin-hyung, please tell us what you found yesterday and then we will talk about today."

"We got nothing too important. There was nothing in the washrooms or any of the building. It was like the killer was an expert. He literally left no trace," Jin said and Hoseok and Taehyung nodded in agreement.

"Okay. I also didn't get too much information, just the scent of roses," Namjoon said and the room was filled with silence for a few minutes.

"Okay, now let's discuss what we found out at the crime scene today. We will go around using the same order."

Jungkook and Yoongi sifted through their notebooks and took out their notes. "We questioned the librarian. She said that the vice president comes to the library everyday after 08:00 and leaves before 12:00. The place where we found the body, it was where he always used to sit and--" Yoongi was cut off by Namjoon who was looking at the skyline from the big window.

"--read books. He loved reading books. He used to bring me so many good books, he was the one who created a bookworm in me. He would bring me lots of books from libraries and I remember that I used to tell him summaries," Namjoon giggled and a tear slipped from his eyes. Hoseok put a hand on his shoulder and snapped him out of it. He wiped the tear and sniffled before telling Yoongi to continue.

"We can stop if you don't want to talk about it," Yoongi said but Namjoon shook his head.

"No. Please continue," he said and Yoongi nodded.

"So when he didn't come out from his spot after two hours, she went to see if he had fallen asleep. It was common for him to fall asleep while reading a book. Often, she had to wake him up to tell him to go home. But when she got there, she was met with the sight of him leaning back against the shelf with a knife in his stomach. She had gone into shock but snapped out of it when she heard the door of the library shut loudly."

"The door shut loudly?" Namjoon asked.

"Yes. We asked her if it was someone else but she said that no one was allowed in the library after 06:00 except the Vice President."

"So it was the killer!" Taehyung concluded and everyone agreed with him.

"Exactly. But she hadn't noticed him because she was in shock," Yoongi said and Jin cursed.

"Okay, what did you get, Jin-hyung and Hobi?" Namjoon asked.

"Well, we found something which indicated that the killer was there before the Vice president. There was a book opened on the desk next to the Vice president's," Jin said and Namjoon nodded.

"Okay, Well, I got nothing important, just that there was a rose scent at the scene."

"Let's note down the rose scent as the Killer's scent," Jin suggested and Namjoon nodded. Then Namjoon received a call and he excused himself to answer it.

"Hoseok, what was it that you wanted to say in the van?" Jin asked as he turned his swivel chair in circles.

"It was nothing hyung, just something meaningless," Hoseok answered and waved his hand in a dismissing manner. Jin stopped turning his seat and stared at Hoseok.

"Well, me and Yoongi listen to your nonsense 24/7, please tell us what it was this time," Jin deadpanned and Hoseok slapped his shoulder lightly. By now, Taehyung, Jungkook and Yoongi were attentively listening to their conversation.

"It's useless, I told you," Hoseok said again, trying desperately to avoid the topic.

"Tell us hyung," "Yeah tell us," "Well now I am curious too Seok-ah," The other three men said and Hoseok sighed, biting his bottom lip. He knew he couldn't avoid talking about it now so he took a deep breath.

"I... I think that--" Hoseok was cut off by Namjoon opening the door.

"Guys, I have to go. Mom called me and asked me to go to the morgue with Aunt and her," Namjoon said.

"Yeah sure, go. Please tell the family to sign the autopsy papers," Yoongi reminded before Namjoon could close the glass door and Namjoon yelled an 'okay,' before he closed the door.

"Okay, Hoseokie-hyung, go on," Jungkook said, diverting everyone's attention back to the topic.

"It's only my observation but only Namjoon is able to detect the smell of the killer and last night, before he could go to sleep, he told me that his red string glowed bright at the crime scene and he was feeling different kinds of emotions. So,I came to the conclusion that the killer is Joon's soulmate and because we can't smell the scent, the killer is a Beta,"

"Wait, wait, I can't really understand what you are saying hyung," Taehyung said. Hoseok sighed and stood up. He went towards the board and flipped it so that a new clean board was on display. He wrote KILLER'S DETAILS on it and looked at the others.

"Here we will write what we know about the killer that could be true or false," Hoseok said.

"Why can't we write that on the other side?" Taehyung questioned.

"Because Namjoon won't be happy to know that we are labelling the killer as his potential soulmate. He literally fucking killed his favorite uncle, he won't like that," Yoongi answered Taehyung's question who nodded and then Hoseok continued.

"We know that the killer is a male so a tick to that," Hoseok said as he wrote MALE on the board and drew a tick next to it.

"Then we know that the killer is between the ages of 20-30." Hoseok then wrote AGE: 20-30 and then drew a tick next to it.

"Now, as it's just a guess that he is a Beta, we won't add a tick to it," Now he wrote BETA and drew nothing next to it.
Then Hoseok wrote NAMJOON'S SOULMATE and put a tick next to it. "Why a tick?" Jungkook asked and Hoseok smirked. He put the marker down and put his hands on the table facing the four males.

"As an omega, I can assure you that what I am gonna say next is true." Hoseok said and everyone got even more curious now.

"When I first met Yoongi-hyung, only I could smell his vanilla scent. Jin-hyung started smelling his scent after we all mated," Hoseok said. Taehyung and Jungkook looked towards their elders who nodded their heads confirming Hoseok's statement.

"Namjoonie is an Omega and the scent of his soulmate is more potent for him. That's why we can't smell the roses because his soulmate is a beta," Hoseok said.

"But, there is a possibility that the killer is using a scent blocker. It could be that he is an Omega because Joon said he had a rose scent," The others nodded agreeing to everything that Hoseok said.

"But if he is wearing scent blockers then how can Joon-hyung smell him?" Taehyung asked
"Hyung, everyone can detect their soulmate's scent even if they are wearing scent blockers," Jungkook said and Taehyung 'Oh-ed'

"That was a very good observation, Hoba," Jin praised Hoseok and he gave him a heart shaped smile in return.

"Shall we leave now? It's way past our time," Taehyung said and everyone glanced at the wall clock placed behind the white board.

"Okay, Have a good night friends!" Taehyung said as he stood up from his seat. Jungkook followed him and they exited the planning room, making their way towards their desk to gather their stuff.

Jin, Yoongi and Hoseok were the last ones to leave the precinct and Hoseok had flipped the board back to its original position before leaving the planning room.
