Chapter 2
"Good morning officers!" Chief Bang said as he entered the conference room. The room was filled with the previous case investigators and the new case investigators.
"Good morning, Chief!" The officers replied loudly and bowed. The Chief signaled them to sit down.
"As you all know, we are gathered here to discuss the killings of wealthy Alphas around the country." The officers said a collective 'yes', prompting him to continue. "Good. Now, without wasting our precious time in meaningless speeches, can the respective officers please start the briefing?"
Five officers stood up. They made their way towards the projector screen and the lights were lowered so that the screen was visible. The Chief took his seat beside Namjoon and the officers started their briefing.
"Good Afternoon, fellow officers. Our team's name is TXT, and we have been investigating this case.. I am the leader of the team, Soobin, and I will be briefing the case," Soobin explained.
"The first murder was reported on May 2nd," he went on. "This was the first week of May. The victim was one of the ministers of a political party. His wife had died a few years ago and he had no other family members."
"What about the forensic report?" Jungkook asked.
"We did an autopsy of the body but there were no DNA traces of the murderer." Soobin then signaled one of his team members, who switched the slides. The new slide displayed a picture of the dead body at the crime scene.
"We just found a lipstick mark on the man's cheek in the shape of a kiss.. There was nothing else on the scene."
"There was no DNA on the lipstick?" Namjoon asked.
"No. We concluded that the murderer didn't come in direct contact with the victim. He drew the lipstick mark on him." Another team member, who had introduced himself as Hueningkai, spoke.
"Was there a scent or something that would reveal the subgender of the murderer?" Seokjin asked.
"Unfortunately, no, there was no scent. We concluded that the murderer is either a Beta or was using scent blockers."
"Scent blockers are expensive." Taehyung pointed out.
"Yes. That's why we put 'expected to be wealthy' in the report that we made and are using it to write details of the murderer upon our observations."
"So, we don't know about their subgender," Yoongi stated and Soobin nodded. The six males collectively let out a disappointed sigh.
"Please excuse me but what have you done this whole time? Were you even investigating?" Namjoon asked and the other team looked down in embarrassment.
After a short silence, he gestured for them to continue. The screen changed, displaying a picture of the body of an old man..
"The second murder happened on the 6th of May. This would be the 2nd week of May. The victim was the owner of a five-star restaurant: Min Myung-Seok. The crime scene was identical to the first one. The family members refused to do an autopsy on the victim so we could not find anything on him." Again the screen was changed and a new person's dead body was displayed.
"This is the third murder. This is Kim Dave, the MGB bank owner. He was killed on the 10th of May, the 3rd week, making it a pattern. His family also refused to do an autopsy on him so we had to leave the body. The crime scene was, again, the same as the others with lipstick mark on his cheek." The screen changed again and another dead body was displayed.
"This is our most recent victim. He is a parliamentary member, Mr. Choi. He was killed on the 14th of May, in the same week as the previous murder. The crime scene is being investigated as of now. His family has refused the autopsy too." Soobin finished.
"Okay." Namjoon said. He closed his notebook and stood up.
"Thanks for the briefing. We will take this case from here. Please send the related files and autopsy results to us so that we can further investigate. Can you please tell us the address of the crime scene?"
"Yes officer, we will send you everything right now." The other five people stood up too after closing their notebooks. The lights were brightened once again and the Chief stood up.
"Namjoon-ah, please do good on this case. I expect an excellent performance from your team. I'll be going now. If you need any help just come to my office any time. We will have a meeting every once in a while so that we know how far you are with the case." The Chief said, exiting the room after being bowed to.
"TXT! You all did a great job! Don't beat yourself up for not completing the case. Sometimes failure can teach you many lessons that success cannot." Jin said as he patted Soobin's shoulder. The members looked at him with twinkling eyes and bowed at him.
The elders gave encouraging praises to TXT as they exited the conference room, leaving the team behind.

The next day, the six team members were sitting in their personal planning room. Namjoon was standing in front of the white board and the other five were sitting with notebooks in their hands.
"Firstly, I will share what I extracted from my observation. You all are free to say your own observations in between." Namjoon said and once the members nodded, he continued.
"So I am sure that you all find it very suspicious that the family members refused to do an autopsy on the body." Everyone nodded their heads furiously.
"Hyung, I think the murderer bribed the family members to not sign the papers," Jungkook said.
"You're right but even more concerning would be that the murderer threatened them," Namjoon replied.
"All in all, the main point is that the family members have been in contact with the murderer," Hoseok said.
"Yes. That brings us to our first mission. We will go in pairs to the victims' family houses and ask their family members questions. Before you visit the homes, discuss the questions with us so that we can add the more relevant questions into our lists, too," Namjoon said. The others nodded and started writing possible questions.
"Remember to add the questions about why they haven't signed on the autopsy and if they knew anything about the murderer," Yoongi said before continuing his work. The six of them continued working in silence.
"I'll share my questions first," Namjoon said after a while of writing on the white board. The others nodded and Namjoon moved aside, leaving the board visible to the members.
----------
As the members finished their planning for their first mission, they started going out of the precinct in pairs. Taehyung and Jungkook went together. Jin and Yoongi had a small fight on who would take their Omega but Namjoon had rolled his eyes at them, finally deciding that Hoseok would go with him and Jin and Yoongi would go together. The two had pouted but when they saw Namjoon glaring at them, they quickly scurried away muttering about him being 'too scary for an Omega'. When Namjoon said that he heard them, they ran to their car with more speed.
Hoseok had laughed at them but then linked his arms with Namjoon and they happily walked towards their own police car.
"You are not obliged to go with me, Hobi-hyung," Namjoon said as the two Omegas reached the car.
"Who would drive you otherwise?" Hoseok asked, laughing when Namjoon slapped his shoulder. Despite being a detective, Namjoon had still not passed his driving test.
Both of the Omegas sat in the car with Namjoon in the passenger seat as Hoseok started the car and they were on their way to Mr. Choi's house. Taehyung and Jungkook had gone to Kim Dave's house while Jin and Yoongi had gone to Min Myung-Seok's house.

After a tiring afternoon filled with questions and some tears from the victims' families, the members were once more assembled in their planning room.
"Okay, everyone. Let's share our answers quickly so that we can go and have dinner together," Jin said. The others agreed and they decided to start with the youngest officers of their team.
"For starters, his house was like a palace," Jungkook said in amazement and the others giggled.
"Okay, okay, jokes aside. We were greeted by his wife. She was pregnant so we didn't ask personal questions to avoid giving her unnecessary stress. We only asked about her husband's recent activities and why she didn't sign the autopsy papers."
"We noticed some strange behaviour when we questioned her about the autopsy. She told us in detail what happened on the day of his death. She said that her husband was successful in signing a big deal with foreign investors. He and his team wanted to celebrate this so they planned to go to a new club that had opened in the East district," Taehyung said.
"There's where he was found dead," Jin recalled.
"Correct. We asked her about his team and she gave us more information on them. We can find their addresses today and me and Kook can go and investigate them tomorrow if you want," Taehyung said, directing his attention towards Namjoon.
"Yeah, take the information out after we finish the meeting. No need to go talk with them now. Let's just share about today and we will discuss what to do next tomorrow. Now, tell us about when you asked her about the autopsy," Namjoon replied.
"Jungkook was the one who came to that topic. He asked her why she didn't sign the papers. At first she was fine and gave us the answers that we were expecting. But then when we asked her if it was the murderer who asked her to not sign, she started sweating. She bowed her head downwards and she was moving her eyes quickly. Jungkook went to get her some water. She drank it, wiped at her forehead, and sobered up."
"When she sobered up, she answered our questions as if she was not sweating like crazy a few minutes ago."
"That's suspicious," Hoseok said.
"Anyways, as we expected, she said that she hasn't seen the murderer or heard him. Not signing on the autopsy paper was her decision," Taehyung said.
"She said another thing and let me quote her words,"Why would I cooperate with the person who killed my lover? My husband? That is preposterous!"" Jungkook said, mimicking the woman's voice. Everyone giggled at the younger's antics before continuing.
"Okay. Jin-hyung, Yoongi-hyung, please go on now," Namjoon said. The two nodded and Jin opened his notebook to read his notes.
"First of all, Jin-hyung wasted half of our time talking about different spices that we use in our food and what we should do if our pans get burned badly," Yoongi said before Seokjin could utter a word from his notes and he let out a loud 'yah!'
"Can you blame me for that? Tell me, everyone, did you know that if your pan gets burned badly you can put in two cups of water, mix it with vinegar, put a few spoons of baking powder and then put it on low flame. Then after a few hours it will be cleaned. Did you know about this? No, right? Ungrateful brats." Jin folded his arms over his chest.
"Anyways, moving on from the very nice and short theatrics," Yoongi continued with a monotonous voice and Jin slapped his shoulder.
"Min Myung-Seok had a girlfriend but when we went to the house, we were greeted by his parents. The business was passed on to him by his father who got too old to oversee it. Myung-Seok was killed in a cold room in his very own restaurant. As we know through the files that were forwarded by TXT, the CCTV was not working the whole day so there was no trace of the person who killed the man. When asked about the autopsy, his mother got up and left the room with the excuse to make us some tea."
"Why do you say 'excuse'?" Taehyung asked.
"Because we got no tea," Jin said.
"His father said that it was their decision and they didn't want their son to be cut open. They wanted to bury their son as is," Yoongi continued.
"They were definitely contacted by the killer," Jungkook said. "Seeing as they used the same lame excuse as the lady we interviewed." The team collectively nodded.
"Okay, moving on, Hobi-hyung, please tell everyone what we gathered," Namjoon said and Hoseok nodded.
"When we went to Mr. Choi's house, we were greeted by his two daughters and two sons along with an Omega male. The children went away when they saw us but the Omega greeted us and gave us cookies and a nice rosemary tea" Hoseok said.
"Aww, man. You both got lucky! We were literally given nothing!" Taehyung said. Hoseok giggled.
"Anyways, good news for us, the Omega told us about the killer," Hoseok continued. Everyone turned serious now.
"He told us that, after Choi's death, he got a call from a restricted number. It was a male. The Omega was not sure about his age but he said that the caller seemed to be a young adult with a masculine voice. The killer told him to not sign on the autopsy paper or else he would tell the media that he was Mr. Choi's mistress and that Mr. Choi had killed his actual wife."
"Wow. That's twisted," Jin said and the others nodded.
"Wait a sec. Didn't he just confess about Mr. Choi killing someone?" Jungkook said with wide eyes.
"He did and we gave the recording to the Chief. But it would not be of any benefit as it is not related to our case and could have been an empty threat. Anyway, this is what we gathered about the killer and now we know that he is most likely a male." Everyone cheered at their new discovery. Namjoon smiled as he picked up the black marker and wrote 'MALE' on the whiteboard.
"Let's celebrate it by having dinner at Miss. Kyung's," Jungkook said and when everyone agreed, they piled out of the room and made their way towards the exit of the precinct.
