3 - horde
Namjoon thinks the whole thing is surreal. He himself, along with Hoseok, passed by the twins' house just the other day to pick them up for school. Their mother was with them that day, all chirpy and jolly.
To Namjoon, the Mins were like his second parents. Whenever he crashes in their place for personal needs, which is a lot more often than it should, Mrs. Min would always serve him the best pair of oatmeal cookies and milk.
And almost every time Namjoon crashes, he has nothing but his clothes and uniform with him. Mr. Min always lends him his clothes and some of his shirts are still stacked in his house.
Their level of kindness can't be compared to anything else. Namjoon will never forget the school's Parent-Student week and how the Mins immediately stepped up to be his parents for that day.
Namjoon feels his pocket. He feels the folded photo inside. And seeing the zombified Mr. Min attack Seokjin made many thoughts cross his mind— but he knows what to do.
Stabbing Mr. Min is one of the most difficult things Namjoon has ever done. There's a reason why he took as long as he did.
And now that Namjoon is staring at their graves with both Yoongi and Yoonji sobbing loudly— he doesn't know what to say or feel.
It takes a few until Yoongi request he and Yoonji to be left alone. So the whole group shuffles back inside the house quietly until everyone is in the living room.
Jimin lands on the couch first and immediately pulls out his phone. He types furiously as Taehyung crashes beside him and leans on one of his thighs again. It barely gives Hoseok enough space to sit but even when he ends up on the side, he doesn't complain.
Jungkook stands at the side with Yoonji's bat in his hand. He stares at the ground silently. Through his long hair, Namjoon sees Jungkook's red nose and quiet sniffles.
Then Seokjin walks to Namjoon's side and laughs dryly. "You know, I feel like utter shit right now."
Namjoon tilts his head at him. Seokjin releases a loud sigh. His eyes and cheeks are still red and puffy.
"I can't believe I fucking stabbed Yoongi's mom," Seokjin shakes his head. "It feels like I murdered her."
There are many things Namjoon wants to say but he ends up speaking the first thought at the top of his head.
"If we consider human laws, killing someone who already is dead isn't necessarily—"
"Don't give me that bullshit," Seokjin hisses through a whisper. "Where's your conscience? You stabbed Mr. Min! Doesn't that make you feel even a bit off?"
Namjoon purses his lips as he thinks. He takes a deep breath the moment he feels his fist start to tremble.
"We did what we had to do," Namjoon smiles. "There's nothing wrong about that."
Seokjin's eyes widen. He gives Namjoon a look of disbelief. "How are you always this calm?"
A silence. Namjoon's smile fades for a split second before it returns back to his face. "It's what's best."
It's weird. Namjoon can't tell what he himself is feeling.
The tension in the air shifts almost immediately when Yoongi enters the room. He has a tissue in one hand and a knife in the other. Namjoon would think he was menacing if not for his tear stained face.
"Not a damn word," Yoongi says with a hoarse voice when Seokjin is about to speak. "Came here to say we're packing our stuff. We'll be ready in a few."
"You're not planning on coming back?," Jimin asks from the sofa with a hand in Taehyung's hair.
Yoongi stares at Jimin as if the answer is the most obvious thing in the world. "Why should we? There's nothing to return to."
Before anyone can say anything, Yoongi spins on his heel and walks away from everyone's line of sight. Namjoon doesn't think twice before following him out of the living room and into the hallway.
Even through the darkness, Namjoon can see Yoongi's porcelain skin just up ahead. "Yoongi! Wait up!"
"What is it," Yoongi sniffles.
"I'll help you out," Namjoon says as he jogs next to him.
Yoongi stares at Namjoon and even in the dark he can see his swollen eyes. He doesn't say anything and instead walks deeper into the hallway.
Knowing it is some sign of agreement, Namjoon follows Yoongi until he reaches a door. There's a sign that says Knock first, headass stuck onto it and it's slightly open to reveal a dim light inside.
Namjoon sees a shadow shuffle inside and slowly pushes the door open. He enters the familiar room and glances around in nostalgia.
Contrary to Yoonji's room, Yoongi's is lighter in both tone and design. There are a few posters on the wall, some of famous rappers from around the globe and others of local rappers and performers. Namjoon honestly doesn't recognize any of them— with the exception of Michael Jordan, of course.
There's a small hoop screwed onto the wall at the room's corner with a little basketball placed inside its tied basket net. Next to it is a cabinet of clothes with tint knick knacks placed on top.
Namjoon stares at the framed photo placed amongst the little plastic figures. It's of the Mins, two parents, the twins— and him. There's a large ferris wheel in the background and a red balloon in his hand. The difference in their porcelain shade and his own melanin skin makes him stand out.
"I remember the day we took that pic."
Yoongi sits on his bed. There's a dusty brown backpack in front of him. Namjoon eyes him as he spills out the contents of his bag.
"I never said this but that day— it was pretty good, even Yoonji thought so," Yoongi picks up a faded blue pencil case and tosses it over his shoulder. "I could tell you had fun too."
Namjoon sucks a breath. "Yoongi."
"What?," Yoongi hisses without looking at him.
A few seconds pass as Namjoon thinks. He watches Yoongi toss away the content of his bag, mostly school supplies, and shoves in some clothes.
Then Yoongi stands up. Namjoon catches his eye and receives a burning gaze before he passes by and opens up his cabinet.
Namjoon frowns. "You're mad."
"No, I'm not fucking mad at you," Yoongi snaps and snatches the framed photo from the cabinet.
"I've known you since forever, Yoongi," Namjoon clenches his jaw. "I know you're mad. Tell me what I did wrong."
Yoongi still refuses to face Namjoon. He opens a cabinet drawer and pulls out a pocket knife, some socks and a bottle of water— he doesn't question why they're all stored in one place.
After Yoongi shuffles across the room and dropped the items in his bag, he speaks. "Not even a single tear."
"What?," Namjoon blinks.
"If you really think of us as family," Yoongi sniffles again. "Then you should have fucking cried."
It takes a while for Namjoon to fully understand Yoongi's point. Once he does, he feels his hand ball to a fist and tremble at his side. He takes a deep breath.
"Yoongi," Namjoon exhales loudly. "Just because I didn't cry, doesn't mean I don't care."
Yoongi quickly zips his bag shut and glances over his shoulder. This gives Namjoon a sign to continue.
"Just because I didn't shed a tear... doesn't mean I didn't want to dig myself into the dirt, just so I can see them again."
There's a silence. Yoongi faces away and tightly grips his bag. His fingers shake and dig into the cloth.
"Your parents will never be my own," Namjoon whispers. "But they— we may not be related by blood but you guys are my family."
Yoongi sniffles again and wipes his face with the cuff of his sleeve.
"I'm sorry that I didn't cry," Namjoon shakes his head. "When I saw you and Yoonji like that, I held it in and—"
"Shut up," Yoongi grumbles into his sleeve. "Stop talking."
Finally, Yoongi turns around to face Namjoon. Tear stains run down his swollen eyes and drip all the way through his cheeks.
"I'm so fucking insensitive," Yoongi grits his teeth. "Of course you care. Why would I even question that?"
A small smile curves on Namjoon's face. "It's okay. People say lots of things at the peak of their emotions."
Yoongi looks up to meet his eyes. "You know, mom and dad always thought of you as their own son."
"Really now?," Namjoon tilts his head.
"Yeah," Yoongi chuckles. "They actually considered adopting you. Even Yoonji was hyped for that."
Namjoon blinks when he feels tears swell in his eyes. He strokes his chin and hums. "Adoption, huh?"
"I told them that it isn't possible because your real parents are—," Yoongi stops when Namjoon gives him a look. "Fuck. I should shut up."
They both laugh and for a moment Namjoon forgets about the zombies and all the death. That's when he's hit again by the reality of the Mins being six feet underground.
"Yoongi," Namjoon sighs. "I really miss them too."
This makes Yoongi sigh. He turns around and fishes something out of his bag. Namjoon stares at thing being handed to him— a pocket knife, the same one he saw Yoongi pull out of his cabinet drawer just moments ago.
"I'm pretty sure my dad would want you to have this," Yoongi shrugs.
Namjoon shakes his head. "Yoongi, I can't—"
"Just fucking take it."
After Namjoon takes the pocket knife and hides it in his jeans' pocket, Yoongi actually smiles for the first time in a long time. He can't help but grin at the other's gummy smile.
"Hey, what's with that big ass smile."
"You're showing your gums."
"Oh shit," Yoongi closes his mouth. "Not again."
"I don't understand why you dislike your gummy smile so much."
Namjoon glances behind Yoongi and sees Yoonji standing at the doorway. There's a small bag slung across her body and her hair is now tied into a small ponytail. Just like her brother's, her eyes are red and swollen.
"You only say that 'cos we got the same smile," Yoongi smiles.
"True," Yoonjin shrugs and smirks. "Done packing? Let's go."
With that, Yoonji immediately disappears into the hallway. Yoongi gives Namjoon a quick glance before they follow her into the living room.
Surprisingly enough, everyone is in the same position they initially were in before Namjoon left earlier— with the exception of Taehyung, who looks fast asleep on Jimin's lap.
Jimin leans down to whisper something in Taehyung's ear. He almost immediately gets up and yawns as he stretches his arms.
"You're sure about this?," Hoseok asks Yoonji, who is fumbling with her sling-bag.
"Yeah," Yoonji sighs. "Better this way."
"Okay guys, remember the plan," Namjoon says after the group gathers. "Stay quiet. We'll sneak through the horde, okay?"
Everyone nods. Namjoon grips his bloody knife and leads the group across the hallway. He slowly opens the door and winces when the wood's hinges make a slight creak.
Thankfully, it isn't loud enough to attract any of the zombies. Namjoon steps over the body on the ground and takes a good look outside. The horde is still there and he can see their cars parked across the street.
Namjoon makes a gesture with his hand and Jimin steps outside quietly. He's followed by Taehyung, who gasps a bit under his breath after he spots the zombie horde.
One by one, the others move until everyone is outside. It leaves the twins standing in front of their door. There's a click of a lock before Yoongi quietly shuts the door behind him.
When Yoongi turns around, his eyes are glassy with tears. Namjoon smiles and gently rubs his shoulder. Then he makes another gesture for the others to gather around him again.
"If any of them get too close," Namjoon's whisper is barely audible. "Take them out quietly."
Everyone nods, although Hoseok is shaking. Namjoon takes a deep breath and slowly walks up the stone steps with the butcher's knife armed in front of him. He steps on his toes and listens to the zombies that growl nearby.
Namjoon glances around. The zombies around him are limping. Some of them are missing limbs, others have big chunks of flesh torn right from their faces. Most of them are wearing civilian clothing.
When one of the zombies pass in front of Namjoon, he freezes in his tracks. Seokjin almost shouts something but Yoongi clamps a hand over his mouth before he can make any noise.
It's a female zombie with it's hair tied into a loose bun. Dark drool drips between her teeth and down her mutilated jaw. She's missing her entire arm too and Namjoon can see the bone of her shoulder joint sticking out from her blouse.
Namjoon can't help but think this person looks familiar. He shakes his head, dismissing it as paranoia, and stabs the zombie's head instead.
Once the zombie falls to the ground, Namjoon turns around and makes a gesture. Seokjin gives Yoongi the finger before he wiggles out of his grip. Crowbar in hand, he slowly approaches Namjoon.
Seokjin eyes the zombies with pursed lips and a hand over his nose. One of the undead turns its head slightly and he immediately bashes its head in with a crowbar.
Everyone stares at Seokjin as the zombie slumps to the ground. He freezes there, brain matter all over his face, and gags. This makes Yoongi nudge him from behind.
Afterwards, the twins tail behind Seokjin. Namjoon notices the zombie horde begin to grow so he makes another gesture. Jimin, Taehyung, Hoseok and Jungkook shuffle up from the stairs with quick steps.
Taehyung stands behind Jimin, who has fists out in an offensive stance. Hoseok is still shaking, teeth literally clattering, whilst Jungkook walks calmly behind as if he's strolling in some garden.
It takes a few minutes of dodging zombies by forcing himself to be flexible but Namjoon eventually makes it to one of the cars. He stretches his hand out to grab Seokjin, who still has nose scrunched in disgust.
"Guys, hurry up," Namjoon whispers as Seokjin gags again beside him.
Yoongi glares at him from within the horde with a look that obviously says— we're trying. He's still slipping through the zombies by moving his body sideways whilst Yoonji gently nudges them away with her bat.
The twins safely make it so Namjoon keeps his eyes on the rest. Jimin still has his fists up and Taehyung hovers behind him like a bodyguard. One of the zombies gets too close and nearly walks right between them.
Jimin flinches and nearly reacts but Taehyung beats him to it. In a flash, the curved hammer's edge is in the zombie's cheek. Taehyung pulls it out and strikes the undead's head. It basically explodes like a balloon of blood.
And all that blood splatters across both of their faces. The zombie falls to the ground and Jimin is obviously shaken. Taehyung, on the other hand, just looks away and spins the hammer in his hand.
"What the fuck," Seokjin's sudden cussing almost makes Namjoon jump. "Did Taehyung just do that?"
Namjoon shushes Seokjin despite his worries. "Not now."
Jimin and Taehyung make it safely. Namjoon mouths keys to Jungkook, who easily tosses it at him. He passes it to Taehyung, who starts to quietly unlock Jungkook's car.
The zombies still mindlessly wander around but Hoseok is still shivering in fear. His knees shake as Jungkook ends up actually pushing him through the horde.
Despite how the two are going a lot slower than expected, Namjoon thinks everything is going according. Seokjin has already managed to open his car and the twins quietly sit inside.
That's when someone's phone rings.
Nobody moves for a few seconds. The phone loudly blares a familiar hip hop song, Namjoon can tell by the quick rapping and dubstep beats. It's at that moment he realizes whose phone is ringing.
Hoseok's hand trembles as he slowly reaches into his pocket. His screen flashes brightly as it continues to ring and vibrate. Nearby zombies snap their heads to the sound.
Once Hoseok takes a look at the screen, he lets out a sarcastic laugh. "It's Jiwoo. She's alright!"
Namjoon starts to panic— and he means literally, with his heart racing and cold sweat dripping down his forehead. By now, nearly the entire horde has their attention on both Hoseok and Jungkook.
And in those split seconds, Namjoon thinks of the possibilities. He knows both Jungkook and Hoseok can fend them off— but its their numbers. There are too many of them.
But Namjoon observes further. The zombies only wobble and limp.
"Not a problem, not a problem," Namjoon takes a deep breath. "They can't run. They can't run! Take them out before Hoseok and Jungkook are overwhelmed!"
Namjoon swings his butcher knife. He steps forward and slashes a nearby zombie's head, cutting it clean in half. Its skull withers and slides off what's left of its jaw before falling to the ground with a loud splush.
"Oh my God!," Seokjin screams and jumps out of his car seat. "That smells fucking awful!"
"Shut up and clear a path!," Yoongi screams and stabs a zombie in the head. "And turn that god damn phone off!"
"I'm trying!," Hoseok wails within the horde.
The ringing finally stops but it's too late. All the zombies are piling against each other like a wave, all with their eyes on Hoseok and Jungkook. With how narrow the streets are, it's almost impossible to move.
"Shit!," Jungkook shouts and then there's a crunch. "They're too many!"
"We're coming to get you!," Jimin says before punching a zombie in the face.
The zombie's jaw actually spins off its face. It still growls so Jimin punches it again, this time its skull splits open and falls to the ground with its brains out.
"Who doesn't put their phone on silent?! It's the 21st century, god damn it!"
"This is not the fucking time to play the blame game! Just kill these things!"
Namjoon continues to slice through zombies with his butcher knife. He finally gets enough space to take a glimpse at Jungkook and Hoseok.
And their teamwork is impressive. Jungkook does low kicks whenever some zombies get too close and they almost always fall to the ground. Then Hoseok, despite his hesitation, uses Yoongi's boots to squash their heads.
It's working, it really is. But Namjoon knows that the horde is getting larger, that the zombies are becoming more desperate— and they have to get out of there.
"Namjoon, watch out!"
Namjoon turns to see a zombie pouncing at him with its rotting teeth out. In a split second, there's a hammer's head in its temple. It falls and he sees a very sweaty Taehyung on the other side.
"Don't get distracted!," Taehyung warns and swings his hammer.
"Thanks," Namjoon nods and turns back to the surrounded duo. "Hold on! We'll clear a path!"
"Oh God, Oh God!," Hoseok cries as he stomps on more zombie heads. "This is all my fault!"
"I'm sorry Hoseok but please shut up!," Jungkook hisses from the floor and continues to low kick. "You're going to attract more of the—"
When Jungkook pauses, Namjoon desperately cranes his head to see why. That's when he realizes that the zombies are huddling together and that they're looming over the two with bared teeth.
Then the zombies weight finally takes hold and it crumbles— all on top of Hoseok and Jungkook.
"Shit!," Yoonjin screeches, her spiked bat dripping with blood. "Those fuckers just piled on top of them!"
"They what?!," Jimin's eyes widen. His fist is still inside a zombie's head.
"Holy fuck! They're as good as dead!"
"No!," Namjoon decapitates a zombie and grits his teeth. "They're not! Keep cutting through!"
Namjoon is worried sick. He himself doesn't know if Hoseok or Jungkook are alright, especially because they're too quiet. So he cuts through the zombies and slices their heads apart.
Somehow, with everyone's combined efforts, they make it to the center of the horde. Just when Yoonji raises her bat to slam it down on the zombie pile, Namjoon raises a hand.
"Wait," Namjoon shakes his head. "Pull the zombies away. We might hit them by accident."
Although Yoonji has a big frown on her face, she grabs a zombie by the collar of its shirt and pulls it backwards. It lands next to Yoongi, who immediately stabs it in the head.
And that causes a silent agreement to form between them. Whilst Namjoon, Yoonji and Jimin pull apart the zombie pile, those behind them strike their heads. At the same time, they also defend everyone from the zombies surrounding them.
"How many are there?!," Seokjin hisses and tears out a zombie's throat with his crowbar.
"I can see Jungkook's hair!," Jimin screeches with tears in his eyes. "We're almost there!"
It feels like forever but Namjoon eventually gets to see both of them. Jungkook is unconscious, blood all over his white undershirt, and lays on top of a very wide eyed Hoseok.
Namjoon stares for a few seconds. He feels the tears swell in his eyes again but this time he takes a deep breath to stop them. With a loud grunt, he grabs Jungkook by the waist.
"Jimin, get Hoseok!," Namjoon screams as he throws Jungkook over his shoulder.
With his lips trembling, Jimin nods and pulls a very obviously shaken Hoseok to his feet. He whispers to him softly. Taehyung eyes them from behind.
"Clear the way!," Namjoon groans as he swings his butcher knife with his free hand.
Somehow, Namjoon still is able to slash a zombie's neck, even with muscle pig Jungkook's weight on his shoulder. The others continue to fight the undead as they slowly part and clear a path to the cars.
Namjoon's steps make a loud splash against the pools of blood and brain matter on the ground. It takes him all his strength to reach Seokjin, who is already unlocking his car door.
"What the hell happened?!," Seokjin screams in terror.
"Open the door," Namjoon says calmly and feels Jungkook's blood seep into his back. "And don't complain about the smell."
There's a moment of Seokjin just staring at Namjoon with fear in his eyes but he eventually swings the door open. Namjoon basically tosses Jungkook's body in the back seat before he leans on the car to catch his breath.
"Stay inside with him," Namjoon says before he lifts the butcher's knife and runs again.
After Seokjin enters the car through the driver side, Namjoon turns just in time to see Hoseok struggle with a zombie that's grabbing his shoulder. As he screams, Namjoon swings the knife downwards.
It leaves the hand, still clutching onto Hoseok's shoulder. Jimin pulls it away and Namjoon finishes off the zombie behind them.
"Get in Jungkook's car and drive," Namjoon points at the vehicle behind him. "We have to get away from the horde first."
Although Jimin looks hesitant, he nods and drags a still very dazed Hoseok with him. Taehyung opens the door and they both throw themselves into the backseat.
Taehyung gives Namjoon a quick glance before he shuts the door and revs the engine. He slips away just before the horde starts slamming themselves onto the car.
"Drive!," Namjoon screams and slams his hand on the car's hood.
He sees Taehyung give him a look before the car goes in reverse. It drives over some zombies and shake as if its running on a rocky terrain.
Namjoon hears another car start to drive and sighs in relief when he sees Jungkook's car move. Then his eyes widen when he glances at the horde— and fails to see anyone human.
"Yoongi?! Yoonji?!"
Gaining no response, Namjoon glances around desperately whilst swinging the knife around. He continues to scream their names. More and more zombies start to surround him.
Namjoon feels his heart race and hears the thumping in his ears. He swings and swings. More bodies fall to the ground, there's blood all over his clothes. Still, he doesn't see any sign of the twins.
Just when Namjoon starts to give up, he hears a car skid across the road loudly. Suddenly zombies are flying and he's staring right at his car. Hot smoke rises from underneath the tires.
The window lowers and Yoongi's head pops out from the driver's side. "Get in, dumbass! You dropped your keys during the chaos!"
At that moment, the backdoor opens to reveal Yoonji with her bloody bat on her shoulders. Namjoon doesn't need to be told, he hops in before any of the zombies can reach him.
The door slams and Yoongi makes a sharp turn. Both Namjoon and Yoonji tumble as the car swerves and smashes some zombies onto the walls of nearby houses.
"Fucking drive properly!," Yoonji screams.
"Shut up and put on a seatbelt!," Yoongi hisses and spins the wheel again.
Thankfully, the car actually drives straight this time. Namjoon can tell how quickly Yoongi drives because it only takes about a minute for them to catch up to get away from the horde.
When the car stops, nobody says anything for a moment. Namjoon can also hear deep breathing from all three of them.
Yoonji speaks first. "Holy shit. That just happened."
Namjoon slowly reaches into his pocket to take out his phone and pauses when he sees his hand shake. He continues to shiver, even as he dials Seokjin's number, and listens to the classical music ring in the silent car.
After two rings, Seokjin picks up. "Namjoon? You're alive?"
His tone makes Namjoon frown. "You sound like you want me dead."
"What? Of course not!," Seokjin scoffs. "It's just— I can't believe we all made it out of there."
It makes Namjoon think. He feels his hand tremble again as he takes another deep breath. Both twins stare at him worriedly.
"How's Jungkook?," Namjoon asks with a heavy sigh.
Seokjin doesn't say anything for a few seconds. There's the sound of shuffling and squeaking against rubber before he finally does speak.
"Corner street bakery, where we used to hang out after class," Seokjin replies. "You should see for yourself."
Namjoon nods, not really sure if he should take that as a good thing or not. "Okay, we'll be there."
After the call ends, Namjoon relays the information to Yoongi. He nods and drives off. It only takes about a minute until they reach the bakery.
Both Jungkook and Seokjin's cars are parked next to each other in the bakery's already small parking lot. There are some decapitated zombies on the ground around them, as well as plastic wrappers and cups.
The moment Namjoon steps out, with the twins behind him, he sees the bakery's now desolate look. There are metal blinds covering its entrance and that itself is vandalized with black pray painted words that spell— It's the end.
Namjoon then spots Jimin standing outside Jungkook's car. There's still fresh dark blood dripping down his brass knuckles. He sees a zombie with its skull smashed in laying next to his feet.
Before Namjoon can say anything, Jimin speaks. "Hoseok's talking to Jiwoo. You should check on Jungkook first."
Namjoon purses his lips and nods. He turns and heads to Seokjin's car. There's nobody standing outside, instead he sees shadows move through the backseat window.
After Namjoon very hesitantly knocks on the window, the door swings open. His breath stops in his throat when he sees Seokjin sitting there with an unconscious Jungkook next to him. They're both covered in blood.
"He hasn't woken up yet," Seokjin says whilst staring at Jungkook.
Namjoon doesn't like the idea but he knows he has to ask. "Is he bitten?"
Seokjin looks up to meet Namjoon's eyes. There's a certain fear in his gaze. "I've checked, haven't found anything so far. You think— being bitten can really turn us into those things?"
"It's our only bet," Namjoon kneels down and scans Jungkook's figure. "We should be careful nonetheless."
"So this really is what the world has come to, huh?," Seokjin scoffs and leans on his seat. "I can't believe we're talking about being bitten by fucking zombies. This only happens in movies!"
Namjoon shakes his head. "Who would have known."
"Oh my God, Jungkook!"
Hoseok runs into Namjoon's view and bends down to look into the car. Hurriedly following behind him are Jimin, Taehyung and the twins. He basically lets out a sob when he sees Jungkook's unconscious figure.
Hoseok buries his face in his hands. "Oh God, please tell me he isn't hurt."
"It's okay, Seok," Namjoon holds his shoulder. "He's covered in zombie blood but he's fine."
"What happened back there, Hoseok?," Jimin asks curiously. "Why was Jungkook on top of you?"
It takes a few seconds until Hoseok speaks. "When the pile fell, Jungkook just— launched himself over me. He was so quiet that I thought he was—"
"Don't kill me off just yet."
Everyone turns to see Jungkook raise his head. He groans and combs his fingers through his long dark hair.
"I may have had the wind knocked out of me but I'm fine," Jungkook puts on a big bunny grin. "Don't worry about me."
Before anyone can say anything else, Yoongi suddenly barrels through everyone. Jungkook's eyes widen when his collar gets grabbed and he gets pulled closer.
"Don't fucking do that!," Yoongi shouts to his face. "Do you realize how much danger you put yourself into?!"
Jungkook tilts his head. "Yoongi—"
"Shut up," Yoongi hisses. Tears suddenly flow down his face. "Listen, you dumbass. I've already lost my parents. If I lose any of my good friends—"
Although Yoongi doesn't finish his sentence, Namjoon is sure about what he means. Nobody says anything, Yoonji looks away, before Yoongi sniffles and pulls himself away.
"Sorry," Jungkook says sheepishly.
Yoongi huffs and looks away. "I swear to God, if any of you throw your lives—"
"Wait, hold that thought," Jimin suddenly says and presses his vibrating phone to his ear. "Jihyun?"
Everyone stares at Jimin as he frowns. Then his eyes slowly start to widen.
"Jihyun? Jihyun?! I can't hear you— What do you mean they're inside?!"
"Oh shit," Yoonji whispers.
"Wait, Jihyun!," Jimin hisses when his call suddenly ends. "Fuck, fuck, fuck. The zombies got in. Jihyun and Ami are stuck there."
Jimin looks up. There's an expression of desperation and fear on his face, one Namjoon hasn't seen on him in so long.
"Please," Jimin's lips tremble. "We have to save my little brother."
