2. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Hogwarts resembled a glowing fortress with the looming darkness of dusk setting in. The train journey had gone by incredibly quickly and students were ushered into the castle by the Gamekeeper.

"Rubeus Hagrid, ladies an' gentlemen. Follow me," the large man declared, helping the first years get out of the boats in which they had crossed the vast lake, after descending the Hogwarts Express.

"This way, if yeh please." He held a large lantern above his head, prompting the students to follow. Clad in their Hogwarts robes, Thor and Loki made their way behind the enormous figure of their guide.

"Reminds me of mother's drapes," Loki muttered, sniggering, as he pointed to Thor's robes.

Thor rolled his eyes. "We're wearing the same robes, Loki," he retorted with annoyance. His brother shrugged.

"I wear it better."

As soon as the students entered the school, they gazed around them in awe. The torchlight from the walls cast flickering shadows all around and the stairs they walked up seemed ancient, leading to some mystery on the top floor. As the first years made their way upstairs amid the muffled conversations, they were met with the tall, green robe-clad figure of a witch. Her composed demeanor and stern expression were indications of her status as a teacher.

"I am Minerva McGonagall, students. Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts. First years, please follow me," she stated, beckoning to them to follow with a roll of parchment in her hand.

The first years filed in behind her, taking in their surroundings. Thor thought about how sharp the swords in those suits of armour were. Loki was thinking about all the dark hiding places the castle offered. Hela had proceeded to the Great Hall with her friends.

The students entered the Great Hall.

The two brothers were astounded at the splendour around them. There were a thousand floating candles casting light all around the tables. There were four banners that hung front the ceiling, with a table underneath each one to denote the four houses of Hogwarts. In front sat a long table where the teachers were seated, watching the proceedings. There were several teachers, as Thor and Loki observed. They glimpsed a wizened old man with a sliver beard and crescent glasses. He looked atleast a hundred years old, according to them. There was another teacher in black silk robes, who had shoulder-length black hair and a look of sheer superiority as he gazed down at them. A voice interrupted their musings.

"When I call out your name, please step forward and take a seat here. You will then be sorted into your houses," Professor McGonagall called out, unrolling a parcel that resembled a rather old, dusty hat. The sorting ceremony had begun.

The houses you were assigned to now would determine your entire life at Hogwarts.

Hela craned her neck in anticipation from her place at the Slytherin table. Where would her brothers be assigned?
