Welcome to the family!
Pelco's POV
TIMESKIP THREE DAYS LATER
It took longer than we'd hoped for us to fly to the Kingdom of the Sea.
Nobody'd admit it, but, I suspected it was because of me.
We'd just landed on a beech, when we heard wingbeats behind us.
I turned around to see that it was Bowfin, Angelfish's boyfriend and long time crush.
"We've been expecting you, Pelco. Your family are waitting for you. Come, follow me."
We flew for about an hour until we came within sight of the Meeting Balcony.
The Meeting Balcony (as it was called among many other names) was part of the new Summer Palace that Queen Coral was building.
At the moment it was being used (as the name would suggest) for important meetings with the Queen.
As we landed, I heard the voices of Cory and Carp singing.
"Wab-awa awin-aba awin-aba."
"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight!"
"A weeeeeeeeeee-eeeeeeeeeeeeeee
a pumba-pumba-way!", I finished as I entered the room.
"Pelco!", Carp cried, runing into my arms.
Dang, I missed him so much.
"Hey, Pelco!", Cory said, patting my shoulder.
"Well, look who's back", Angelfish said in her suppieror-sounding voice.
Mother walked up to me and put a wing around me.
"Welcome back, Pelco!"
She gave Oaktail a friendly smile.
"And you must be Oaktail. I've heard so much about you."
"What? What have you heard?", Carp asked.
I put a talon over my face to try to hide my blush.
"This is Oaktail, my boyfriend."
Angelfish's jaw dropped.
Somehow, her face almost made the embaressment worth it.
"Well, in the case, welcome to the family!", Cory said opening his wings.
Angelfish face-palmed.
Cory walked up to me.
"Hey, sis, you're looking kind of hot."
"You are reeeeeally not helping", I remarked.
"The Queen has personaly invited us for dinner. You should get ready", Mother instructed.
"And Pelco, don't forget to take a bath."
Bruh, I'm a Seawing.
One hour later
I'd never been to the Royal Dining hall before.
Much to my dismay and annoyence, "all of us" had appartently meant, "You, me, and your brothers and sister".
My friends were eatting dinner with the soldiers and I knew that no degree of persuasion would get the queen to allow them to dinne with us.
"I'm sorry that your friends cannot eat with us, Pelco. We were not prepared to have dinner with dragons from other tribes."
It felt almost as if the queen was scorning my friends for not being Seawings.
I'd always felt kind of annoyed by Queen Coral.
Many old documents said that she was the best queen in Phyrria.
But, as it turned out, Queen Coral herself wrote many of those old documents.
"How are Tsunami and Auklet?", The queen asked me.
"They're doing alright."
"Good. I got a message today saying that Seasnake and her Mudwing clawmate, Curlew, are on their way here so that Seasnake can get help for her parenioia."
"Why didn't they just come with Pelco and her friends?", Carp asked.
"Sunny didn't want Seasnake traveling with Amur and Lacewing", I explained.
"I've already decided who will replace her. After mush disscussion, I've come to the conclusion that Cory will go with you and your friends back to Jade Mountain."
Cory did a flip.
"Yesssssss!"
Angelfish rolled her eyes.
Geeze, why does she have to be so snotty all the time? He's just happy.
I disracted myself from being mad at Angelfish by taking a bite of my food.
I wonder what Oaktail and Avocet are eatting right now.
After dinner, I found myself wishing (for what was probably the twentyth time) that I could be back with Oaktail.
It was my every intention to go back to him as soon as I was excused.
"I can't belive you actually followed my advise this time!", Angelfish told me.
"Noooo, really it's me following my own advise since I said I wouldn't get a boyfriend until I fell in love", I corrected.
"What's he like?", Carp asked.
"Oaktail is awsome."
Angelfish wacked me with her wing.
"Be more specific! What are his personality traits?"
"Oaktail is patiant, smart, dedicated, kind, and loyal. He's a little quiet when you first meet him, bu, he's really funny once you get to know him."
"How long to it take for him to open up to you?", Carp asked.
"Um, I think he's always been kind of open to me", I told him.
"Like a book?", Carp asked.
"Like a book."
Angelfish face-palmed.
TIMESKIP BROUGHT TO YOU BY cute younger brothers
Late in the night, me and Oaktail snuck out for a stroll on the beach.
I realize now that we probably weren't being as secretive as we'd thought; looking back at it, I think I heard solt talon-steps and felt inquizative eyes folllowing us.
"Do you remember when we first met?", I aked Oaktail.
He grinned at the memory.
"The way you jumped was really cute", he teased.
I blushed and shoved him playfuly.
We stood there in silence for a moment.
Then, the melodic sound of Oaktail's voice reached my ears.
"There's a calm surrender that can't be turned away
It's enough for this reastless warrior just to be with you
And can you feel the love tonight?
It is where we are
It's amazing to this wide-eyed wonderer, that we made it this far
And can you feel the love tonight
It's enough to make kings and vagabounds believe the very best."
I took Oaktail's talons and we sang the last part of the song together.
"It's enough to make kings and vagabounds believe the very best."
We were so busy in doing this, that we didn't even notice that Carp was standing right watching us.
"You two are in love?", he asked.
"Have you been standing there the whole time?!", I asked in a loud whisper.
"Yep and I've decided you two make a cute couple", Carp teased.
"If you want to tease someone about love, go tease Angelfish; she and Bowfin are engagged you know", I retorted.
"What?! No, I didn't!"
Carp ran back to the inside, leaving me and Oaktail alone.
"What's he going to do?", Oaktail asked.
"He's going to wake up Angelfish so that he can tease her."
Oaktail laughed.
The next day, we can within sight of Jade Mountain.
I did a flip and gave a whoop.
Oaktail and Cory joined in.
I could tell Cory was excited about going to the academy.
Third person POV
Tody and Cliff sat on a rock, relaxing.
"Ahh, nothing like a good sun-bath at the end of a hard day's work", Tody said with a contented sigh.
"But, Tody, you've never done a hard day's work", Cliff remined him.
"Well, I've done a hard day's schoolwork."
Cliff rolled his eyes.
"Pelco's back!", Dusky called to them.
Pelco's POV
Dusky, Cliff, and Tody ran towards us.
There was much laughter and talking.
I introduced Cory to Cliff and Tody, who exchanged grins with Cory.
Oh boy I think we have another trouble-maker on our talons.
Oaktail embraced me.
"You did it Pelco."
"No", I corrected him."We did it."
A/N: I've been reading this story to my cousins, and they really laughed at the part where Carp runs inside to wake up Anglefish just so that he can tease her.
