The Almost Dropout
Dr. Ito walked into the piano studio to begin Masterclass. All 15 of his piano majors were gathered together. Mitsumi was the only one admitted into the program this semester. Which caused her more grief than happiness. Ever since coming home from the tournament, she had been forced to work overtime to prepare for her various semester performances. And this time, it was her turn to perform for the devil's spawn of a teacher. Did Ito care for his students? Yes. But his expectations were as high as the sky and they were expected to achieve them. But thankfully. that week off from volleyball allowed her to have plenty of time to play catch up.
Suga had also been watching over her like a hawk to her annoyance. The first couple days were spent fighting about what she could and couldn't do. Although it was completely pointless in the end. He at least made sure she didn't sneak into places she wasn't supposed to be.
The professor pushed his glasses up as he took a pen out of his shirt pockets. He took down some notes before class started. "Okay, Mitsumi and Oyami. I believe it's your week to play for everyone." He said as he left the two students to decide who would perform first.
Oyami was Ito's top student. Although his personality said otherwise. The pink-haired male was quiet and reserved. And barely ever spoke. And thankfully, he wanted to go last. Nothing was worse than butchering a performance after the star student plays.
Mitsumi sighed and stood up from her bench. She walked over to the grand piano and handed her music to the head professor. She hated how much pressure she felt anytime he was in the room. "So, today I will be playing Chopin's Etude Opus 25 No.11. Winter Wind." It was a bold piece for a first-semester student. But, Mitsumi wanted to prove that she could survive Ito's insane program. She had already somewhat proven her point. But, she wasn't satisfied yet.
She took a deep breath and began the piece. The slow opening bars burst into a rapid flurry of notes. Mitsumi needed to start her college music career strong. And the last time she played, Ito basically gave her a free pass for epically murdering Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 2 Number 14.
It didn't seem to matter how good of a performance she gave, Ito found something to tear her apart. Dr. Ito's pen was scribbling on his notes paper. The sound of his pen cut through the music. It was Mitsumi's least favorite noise in the world. The piece ended and she gritted her teeth waiting for the criticism. Her classmates were luckily forgiving and complimented her playing style and such.
And then the pin was pulled on the grenade. Dr. Ito looked at the music. "You need to work on voicing the left hand. Have you been practicing the jumps? They looked super sloppy. And the right-hand needs to be made clearer. Make sure you are playing with your whole arm." His comments were endless.
This is why I can't be proud of anything. Mitsumi thought to herself as she went back to her seat. Ito tore everyone apart like that. Especially if they weren't taking private lessons directly from him. Gosh, you really can't satisfy this guy. The looks of pity from her classmates weren't exactly helping her mood as well. At least they were kind enough to tell her the things she did well. Even if it seemed like they were running in circles a little bit.
Mitsumi stood outside the office after class and checked her phone. It was time to go to work. Hopefully, Dr. Tanaguchi was in so she could spill all of the tea. One of her classmates caught up to her. It was Mei.
"Mitsumi, you really got a beating today. I'm sorry." Mei walked down the sidewalk with her classmate. "Your sound is really coming together though. Ito will be blown away by the end of the semester."
"Thanks for the encouragement, Mei." Mitsumi thanked her upperclassmen. "I heard you are doing a collaborative recital with Kendo. When is it again?" She had already met her concert attendance requirement but wanted to support her classmates.
"Next Friday night. Are you coming?" Mei was secretly hoping she could make it.
"That's my first game of the season." Mitsumi groaned. She was actually looking forward to the concert. "I'll be there in spirit then."
"Awww man, I wanted to see you play. You were on the All Japan Youth Team in high school, right?" Mitsumi had played when she was in high school for fun. It was just something to keep her active. "I need to crash one of your practices. We gotta support each other, ya know."
Mitsumi stopped in front of her office. She nodded slightly, "Yeah, tonight we are playing a game with some old friends if you want to join in. We'll be at the gym." She offered for Mei to join in on the fun. "The more the better." Mei was one year ahead in school. She helped Mitsumi study for her classes quite often and they sometimes spent their lunch break together.
"I don't have much going for me tonight." Mei smiled gently, "But, I don't want to burden you guys. I haven't played much since high school. Just intramurals, ya know." She scratched her neck and followed Mitsumi into the office. She had her jazz lesson today with Dr. Nakamura.
"Well, that isn't an issue at all! Just show up and we'll make the teams there." Mitsumi clocked into work and took a seat at the front desk. The office was filled with the sounds of merry music-making. This time of day was always noisy. It was the most popular time for private lessons. So, people were in and out of the office quite a bit. It was a nice change of pace.
Dr. Tanaguchi called her student into her messy office. She was reshelving her endless collection of books and music scores. "Mitsumi, how did masterclass go?"
The student started helping her out by putting a stack of books onto the labeled shelf. "I want to drop out after today." Mitsumi spat out without any hesitation. Her mind was still plagued with all of Dr. Ito's comments and remarks. "And I actually thought I did decently today."
"That's Ito for you. He's extra tough on the newbies. Today was the first performance of the Chopin, right? What did you play last time?"
"The Bach fugue."
"That's right. First performances are always going to have the most feedback." Tanaguchi smiled at her student. The professor watched her sort through all of the stacks. "So don't drop out on any of us. You have a lot of potential." She hadn't received a new student in a while. And the program had shrunk ever since Ito had decided to tighten the audition criteria.
Mitsumi felt a little more relaxed at her comments. She was letting everything bother her too much. "I've got a game next week if you want to watch. It's a home game." She said after a brief silence. "I'm sure your daughter would have fun."
"I already was planning on going! Kimi and I like to go to them. You know, she's thinking about trying out for the high school team next year. But she's never played outside of just passing the ball." The professor was a single mom with one teenage daughter. Everyone in her piano studio knew Kimi really well. Kimi stopped by after school to catch a ride home with her mom instead of taking the train home. And sometimes she came to the piano major's potlucks on the weekends.
"Good luck to her then! You know, I have my hands kind of full, or else I would help out. But, I know Mei could help." Mitsumi really didn't want to pick anything else up. She sighed a little bit, "My Fridays are going to be totally booked now that we have our game schedule finalized."
"Don't drop out." Tanaguchi reminded her, "Don't do it."
"Geez! I won't be okay?" Mitsumi burst out in irritation. "Some of my old buddies and I are playing tonight in the gym. And we need a ref. I was going to ask you, but-" She decided not to finish her train of thought.
"I'll be there. Kimi is having a study group at her friend's place." Tanaguchi really didn't have anything better to do. Compared to all of the other music professors, she was incredibly carefree. It was that free spirit that allowed her to connect with everyone. "One condition though. If you pass all of your literature exams this semester, I will be your referee for as long as I can."
"Deal."
...
Bokuto Kotarou: Hey hey hey! Don't forget we are meeting up in the university gym at 7 pm tonight!
Kimura Aoi: I am hyped up to play with everyone!
Akaashi Keiji: Send directions so we know how to get to the gym.
Kuroo Tetsurou: So, the Owl Tamer is coming?
Shimura Aki: Heck yeah, can't wait to meet you all!
Mitsumi Chie: *sends a link* Here's the map.
Ritsu Nori: Heck yeah! This will be an epic reunion.
Akaashi Keiji: I see that nicknames are still being applied, Kuroo.
Sugawara Koushi: Hey Takuma, you have a gym key. Right?
Kanagawa Takuma: Yeah, I'll get you guys in.
Sawamura Daichi: Exciting times.
Mitsumi Chie: *Mitsumi Chie added Haruna Mei to the group* Hey guys, one of the piano majors wanted in. So, don't scare her off.
Haruna Mei: Thanks for adding me, Mitsumi!
Mitsumi put her phone in her pocket and stood up from her seat. It was a miracle that everyone had found the time to meet up on a Thursday night. Especially for Akaashi, who was busy with high school. The university played games on Fridays, so their day off from practice was on Thursdays and Saturdays. Although conditioning was on Saturday mornings.
"Hey, Chie." Suga waved and walked over with one hand in his pocket, "Headed anywhere?" He asked her with that stress-killing smile.
Mitsumi shook her head, "Hey, Koushi! I was going to go for a midday walk. My classes are all canceled this afternoon." She sighed heavily. She wasn't sure what she was going to do with all of her free time. She was studying for a test she had the next day. But, her head was spinning so she had decided to call it quits for the day.
"Well, it's Thursday, so I'm done for the day." He scratched his neck, "Want to go grab some boba with me and the others? We were going to figure out how we are going to decide teams tonight." Suga held his hand out to her happily. Ever since that one night at her place, she didn't want to make her uncomfortable. He knew that she would hold hands with him when she was ready too.
"Sure, I have nothing better to do." Mitsumi linked her arm to his with a small smile. "Hey Koushi, how tall are you?" She asked him as they walked. She was short, very short. And that fact made her feel dwarfed by a lot of people.
"I'm 5'8, why do you ask?" He looked down at her with a raised eyebrow. It was a bit of a random question.
She shrugged, "Just wondering." The libero took a deep and relaxing breath. The couple had become more comfortable being out in public with each other. Most of the time when they walked, it was just them coexisting. There would be occasional talk about what happened throughout the day or what they watched on tv. But, their relationship wasn't a noisy one. And that was okay for both of them. Neither of them were known to be loud people in public despite having loud friend groups.
Suga opened the door to the cafe and let Mitsumi in ahead of him. The others had already been there for a little while. "I'll go order for us. What do you want?" He reached into his bag for his wallet.
"I'll get the taro boba." Mitsumi handed him her card, "It's on me today, Koushi. Did you forget?" She heard his soft sigh and patted his arm. "I'll go grab our seats with the others." She left him to order their drinks and found Kuroo and Bokuto sitting at a table in the back corner. "Oi, what's up?"
"Trying to devise a team plan and epically failing." Bokuto's hair was all deflated from the stress of trying to come up with a plan for the night. He and Kuroo had put it off thinking it would be an easy task. But, the roommates were horribly wrong.
Kuroo had his laptop in tablet mode laying flat on the table. He was scrolling down the list of people who were coming: Mitsumi, Suga, Bokuto, Aoi, Shimura, Yuki, Daichi, Takuma, Watanabe, Mei, Akaashi, and himself. It was even six people of both genders. In total, they had four wing spikers, three-setters, three middle blockers, and one libero. Mei hadn't told anyone what position she was comfortable playing.
"This balance is ridiculous." The black-haired male stared at the list. "We will probably all be switching roles."
Mitsumi sat down and joined the other two in staring at the glowing screen. "Yuki is actually a super talented spiker. I'm sure she wouldn't mind doing that."
Suga came with their drinks, "Oh yeah, she does that weird move where Shimura will set for her sometimes." He remembered Coach Ueno bringing it up in practice one time. "Like the Miya twins." He took a seat next to Mitsumi in the booth and put an arm around her as he sipped on his drink.
"Well, I want Akaashi to set the ball for me." Bokuto crossed his arms like a child. It was true, Akaashi really was the best setter for him. And everyone unfortunately knew that. "No offense, Suga, it's just not the same."
Suga sighed heavily, "Are you trying to tell me my setting sucks?" His eyebrows were starting to twitch in irritation.
"I think he's trying to say it's different, Koushi." Mitsumi let out a sigh. "Anyways, Kuroo, you're the analytical one here. What are you thinking?" She chewed on some boba pearls.
Kuroo rested his elbows on the table in thought. "I have an idea. But someone might hate me."
...
Everyone had arrived at the gym right on time. Dr. Tanaguchi had been tasked last second to look at the two team rosters. She hadn't seen most of them play before, but that was okay. She sat on the bench with Kuroo's laptop and occasionally glanced up at the group as they warmed up. She had seen Shimura and Yuki play before, and the roster showed that they were on opposite sides. That was going to be interesting.
"Okay! Well, I think I split the teams even like you asked, Kuroo." She stood up and got everyone's attention. "Team A will have Shimura, Bokuto, and Wantanabe as wing spikers, Takuma as a middle blocker, and Akaashi as the setter. Mei, I hope you don't mind defense."
Bokuto jumped up into the air, "Aw yeah! I get to show you all the new sick moves I've learned, Akaashi!" He threw an arm around his old teammate.
"You really haven't matured any..." Akaashi mumbled in disappointment. Although the energy was refreshing.
"We should call ourselves Team Tokyo!" Shimura gathered her team together as they put on red jerseys. Everyone gave her a confused look. "You know, we are all from the Tokyo area. So, it only makes sense."
Takuma rolled his eyes, "Seriously, Shimura? Are we in kindergarten?"
"Well that makes the rest of you on Team B. Yuki, Daichi, and Kuroo will be wing spikers. Suga will be setting. Aoi is the middle blocker. Mitsumi will be the libero." The piano professor had the teams set. She set the laptop on the bench and closed it gently. It had been a hot second since she was a referee for any kind of match.
Suga had a childish grin as he looked at everyone as they huddled up. "I got you guys covered!"
"Same here!" Mitsumi nodded with a smirk.
Daichi and Aoi glanced at each other. They had changed a lot. But could they keep up? Daichi looked over at Kuroo, "Let's do our best." He had moved on from their high school rivalry. Although part of his pride was hurt by the fact that he was on the same side of the net as the cat who almost killed him and his team at Nationals.
Yuki had the first serve. She was on the backline bouncing the ball as everyone got into position. She could feel her brother staring her down and rolling her eyes in an attempt to shrug it off. She was scared when her brother decided to actually focus. Takuma was at the top of the business management program. But, his focus was utter trash, even when he tutored Kuroo. She took a deep breath and went straight in for a hybrid serve.
Nobody had anticipated it, but Shimura somehow found the courage to receive the serve. "It's up!"
Takuma hit it and sent it towards Akaashi. The third-year got ready to set the ball. He had Kuroo and Daichi, both he had played against before, in the front. Bokuto was hungry for the first spike, but did he send it to him or to Wantanabe? He and the owl boy made eye contact as he set the ball. Akaashi expected him to go straight in with that cross-shot from the left.
"Aoi, Daichi, he's hitting a straight." Kuroo was fast to observe Bokuto's movements. He had perfected a deceptive move where he turned his body to make it look like he will shoot the ball across, but instead hit it dead on. It was a scare tactic that the spiker had nailed in a short amount of time.
Aoi and Daichi trusted Kuroo's judgment and moved in place to block. On Aoi's count, they jumped together. The ball fell right into her hands before zooming right past them. "One touch!"
Mitsumi dived in and saved it, "Shimura!" She called out to her captain, who was ready to cover the save.
"Nice receive, Mitsumi!" Shimura sent the ball towards Suga, making sure that it was nice and high. She held her hand up for a high five. Mitsumi indulged the captain in one.
Daichi watched the ball as Suga set the ball. His set was easy to get and smooth. Smoother than what he remembered. He went in and slammed the ball back over the net. He still had it in him, and he could feel the sparks fly.
Mei dove for the save, but barely missed the ball as it hit the ground. "Sorry guys!" She got up and scratched her neck. Everyone there were impressive players. Some of which were some of the best in the country. She felt out of place playing with such a talented group. It was hard to believe that they were doing this for fun.
"Shake it off, Mei." Watanabe smiled and patted her shoulder. "It'll all come back." She too was trying to get back into her volleyball groove. Yes, she was the team manager and occasionally got to play, but it had been a while since she played a full game. "Just have some fun."
The purple-haired girl nodded with a smile. It was comforting to know that someone else was in the same boat as her. Mei got back into a defensive position and watched Yuki go in for another serve. And this time, it went right for her. She made the receive and smiled at herself.
Tanaguchi observed each rally closely. Everyone was connected and working in unison. They were truly having fun, even when the rallies were long. The two teams were chasing each other's tails on the scoreboard. She spotted her daughter walking toward her and sitting on the bench at the end of the set, "Kimi, I thought you went to your friend's place." She said a bit surprised.
"We finished early." Kimi took a sip of juice from her juice box. "How have things been here?"
Takuma was up to serve. His jump serve smacked the backline with a loud thud. It was unfortunately out. Which meant, Shimura was serving again. Tanaguchi laughed at her daughter's statement, "These guys are crazy. We'll be having a lot of fun at their games this season." She placed her hands on her hips.
Kimi decided to make herself useful and help keep score. She watched the match go on with a sparkle in her eyes. She had never played on a team before, but she would have if her middle school had a team. So, she practiced either by herself or one of her friend's sisters who played for a high school team. "Hey Mom, do you think I could come by here when they play?"
"You'll have to talk to the one in charge here." She gestured to Mitsumi, who was rolling on the floor to get a save. "You know Mitsumi, so it shouldn't be that big of an issue."
...
"What the heck, you guys!" Takuma was laying on the floor huffing and puffing, "Aoi, your blocking was brutal!"
Aoi threw a peace sign and a wink as she handed Daichi his water bottle, "Well, of course, you're looking at a Hikari Pharmaceutical Red Rabbits candidate." She had received an offer from the Japanese V. League right out of high school to try out for different teams. The Red Rabbits were a division 1 team, the highest division in the league. Many Division 1 teams were famous for their strength and intense games.
Daichi put his arm around her, "Killer as always."
Suga high-fived Chie, "And the first win goes to us." He handed her a towel with a blinding smile.
Mitsumi nodded and took the towel. She wiped her face and took a deep breath. "That was a solid last set." She was trying to get her heart rate to go down. Her legs ached from the length of the rallies. Thankfully, it was only a three-set match.
Kuroo threw his elbow on Mitsumi's shoulder, "Take a look over there." He pointed at Bokuto jumping around Akaashi in circles. "Maybe it's a good thing we got him here."
"Emo mode averted," Suga commented with a chuckle.
Mitsumi mentally smiled at the sight. "Hey, I need to talk to Mei really fast." She said before going to go jog to her classmate. Mei was stretching out on the gym floor. She looked absolutely beat. "Good work today, Mei! You pulled some serious moves for your first game back." She had reverted back into her old captain mode. It was natural for her to check in with her teammates when she was given a chance.
"Thanks for inviting me. It was a lot of fun." Mei chirped with a smile. "It took a little bit to adjust, you all are so good." She scratched the back of her neck. She knew her body was going to pay for it in the morning, but every second was worth it. "So, Watanabe, she's your manager right?"
"Yeah, we actually went to high school together. She graduated the same year as me." Mitsumi nodded, "She's probably the most reserved person here." She admitted with a sigh. The gym was filled with the sounds of laughter and everyone poking fun at each other. It was like the old high school training camp days. Only this time, they didn't have teachers and coaches on top of them.
"And Takuma, Bokuto, Suga, and Kuroo are all on the Men's team. So, who's that setter guy with Bokuto and the guy with Aoi?" Mei was trying to keep track of who everyone was.
"AKAASHI! You HAVE to make it into school here to set for me!" Bokuto's voice echoed through the room.
"HEY! Calm down Owl Brains!" Mitsumi shouted at him and groaned, "The setter's name is Akaashi Keiji. He currently plays for Fukurodani Academy. He's in his third year." She took a sip of water after yelling and sat on the floor to finish cooling down. "And he's the only one who has the patience to deal with Bird Brains. Aoi's boyfriend over there is Sawamura Daichi. Everyone just calls him Daichi though. He was the captain of the Karasuno Boys' Volleyball Club last year. He went to Nationals with Suga last year. Now, he's studying Criminal Justice at the Hakusan campus."
Her comments shocked her classmate. Mei's jaw almost hit the floor. "That's insane! And he isn't going pro?"
"No. The same goes for Suga. Suga is only playing right now to pay for school. But, don't tell anyone I said that." Mitsumi added.
Kimi was helping Watanabe get everything put away. She saw that Mitsumi still had her jersey and jogged over. "I can take your jersey." The third-year junior high student offered and held her hand out.
"Oh hey, Kimi!" Mei said with a wave, "Decided to stop by today?"
"Yeah, my study group got canceled. And I didn't have an orchestra rehearsal today." Kimi rocked back and forth on her toes.
Mitsumi handed her jersey to the girl. "Your mom was telling me you're planning on trying out for the girl's team next year." She had a small smile on her face. There was a soft spot for kids in her heart. But, it was another one of those facts that were too mushy-gushy for anyone to know.
"Yeah, I am. I can't really say that I play though. I can't do much more than pass the ball." Kimi scratched her neck. She couldn't believe her mother had told her students. "I was wondering if I could hang here when you guys play. Just to observe."
"Hey, guys! Would it be fine if Kimi came and helped out every week?" Mitsumi shouted at everyone. She was personally down for it.
Everyone nodded enthusiastically with a cheer. It was unanimous. Kimi was allowed to come on a regular basis. She had a starry-eyed grin, "Thank you so much!" She bowed to all of the players.
"You'll get to learn from the pros." Her mother winked playfully.
...
Everyone was laughing as they walked out of the gym. It really was a good and wholesome game. Suga was holding his girlfriend's hand, which caught Daichi's attention. The former captain raised an eyebrow. "So, you got a girlfriend and didn't even bother to tell the team in the group chat."
Suga's face instantly exploded into a blush. "I was going to but you know! Things get busy! And this only happened not too long ago!" He squeezed Mitsumi's hand gently as he went off on his friend. His actions made Daichi laugh as he put his hands in his pockets. It only irritated Suga more. "Hey! Don't pull my leg like that!"
"Loosen up a bit, Koushi." Mitsumi nudged him with a bit of a sigh.
"Good to see you haven't changed." Daichi's laughter died down, "Although your playing has changed a ton! Either Kageyama rubbed off on you, or your skills have been exploding." He looked up at the sky with a sigh. The Karasuno team had kept in contact over time. Their brotherhood was a tight-knit one.
Mitsumi listened to them talk about their old teammates and how their playing styles have changed. She wondered how her juniors were doing at Nekoma. The Inter-High tournament would be happening in a few months. She smiled as she thought about the photo they all took together as she was on the way to Miyagi. It was funny how their paths happened to cross on that one day. It gave her the motivation to be a bigger example to the girls.
Tomorrow is my first official college game. Yeah, it isn't a tournament, but we are playing Nihon. And they are a big school... She had gotten wrapped up in her own thoughts again. Her anxiety about the upcoming was already starting to make itself present.
"Thanks for inviting me, Kuroo." Akaashi was with the other two boys. Although he was dragging Bokuto on his back. The older one did not want his friend to leave him.
Kuroo curled his lips up into a half-smile. "Anytime. We've all given up trying to babysit your friend here. Takuma keeps him under wraps most of the time." He swung his gym bag over his shoulder.
Bokuto let go of Akaashi and started to walk normally again. "I'm very well behaved, Kuroo!"
Mitsumi heard Bokuto's comment and stifled her laughter. She turned around to see her sulking friend. "Yeah right, Bokuto! I heard that!" She lost control and pointed at him laughing. Which in turn, made Kuroo lose his cool and laugh.
Suga watched Daichi wave goodbye to everyone and looked over at his laughing girlfriend. The others had caught up to them. "You need to teach us your tricks." He saw what had happened and glanced at the high schooler. He was even at a loss.
"There really isn't much to do. Just don't feed his ego." Akaashi let out a long sigh, "Anyways, best of luck with your upcoming games. I'll let you know when I can come again." He parted with the group before Bokuto decided to do anything stupid.
Kuroo watched as Mitsumi had gone from laughing to being quiet and emotionless again. Mitsumi checked the time and sighed. "I'll be off now. I have a match tomorrow, so..." She was pulling on the ends of her hair again. That was a bad sign.
"I can walk you home." Suga didn't want her to go home in the dark by herself.
"It's all good, I know you're headed to the library. And I live quite far from there." Mitsumi told him with a reassuring look. She said her goodbyes and walked to her apartment in silence.
"I'll see you at home, Bokuto." Kuroo put a hand into his pocket. He was off to go work on a business class project. He waved as Bokuto took off. "So, how're things with Mitsumi?" He asked Suga as they headed towards the library.
Suga smiled, "Things have been great. She's really an amazing person." He was a bit worried that the spiker was going to bring something crazy up. Or that he did something wrong. His heart was starting to pick up the pace again at the thought that he had done something to Chie without knowing it.
"Have you noticed anything strange lately?" Kuroo was using their conversation to educate his friend. "She's been giving me some off vibes lately."
The setter started to think, "If you're talking about tonight, then yeah. I usually walk her home." Suga thought it was strange that she didn't want his company. But, he didn't want to pry for a reason. "And after the team photos a while back now that I'm thinking about it."
"Mitsumi has a habit of putting up a face and suppressing her feelings. So, it may not seem like she's anxious, but the bigger the act, the more she really is anxious." Kuroo warned him in an informative tone. "She's probably overthinking the game tomorrow. That's why she was acting up. Don't tell her I told you anything."
Suga was a bit surprised by the sudden information dump. But, he didn't let it show. "I had no idea. What can I do to help her then?" His hazel eyes fixated themselves on the concrete in front of him. Mitsumi was always there for people and helped with whatever she could. Even if she came off as blunt, everyone knew she had a heart of gold and meant well.
"Listen to her and don't leave her alone if things get rough." Kuroo was honestly really worried to see how the next day would go. He remembered her first game in high school and the day before any major tournament. It was like the world was going to explode. At least in her mind, it would. The same went for major exams or large events.
"Thanks for letting me know." The setter nodded and sighed a bit.
Sugawara Koushi admitted to being a little bit inattentive that night. Maybe love made him blinder than he noticed.
